My DS will turn 2 on our trip, what rides can he do vs. ones he will actually like.

He will probably like the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella's Carrousel, and the train. Depending on if he does not scare easily he might also like Peter Pan's Flight(my DD's favorite) and the Buzz Lightyear ride. Both of these rides have villains (Captain Hook and Zurg) in them and scare some children. but if he is more of an adventurer- he will like them. I would steer clear of the Snow White ride. This ride even scared me when I was 12.
Don't forget that most rides are dark for a few seconds (even the Winnie the Pooh ride is dark). My daughter had a light up necklace. It was not bright enough to bother other guests but it gave her a feeling of control because she could turn it off and on.

My 2 yr old DD went on almost all the rides. She loved them all, especially the BuzzLightyear ride - her fav.

I think it depends on the child. If your child is easily spooked I would stay away from the more dramatic rides.

The noise is what spooked my 2yr old. But he was fine in:
Pirates of the Carribean
Peter Pan
Winnie the Pooh
Philharmagic (keep the ears plugged)
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion
Carousel
etc....

He would always slide over to my lap and I would cover his ears with my hands and he loved watching what was going on...just not the loud noises. Every kid is different in this regard.

LOL. The only ride he got spooked on was Dumbo :D He didn't like the height.

We just got back from Disney on Saturday. My DS turns 2 next Monday.

Here were his favorites (in no particular order):
;)

Bus
Water Fountain (the ones you drink out of)
Water Fountain (the ones you play in)
Train (Monorail)
Lawnmower (that was mowing by our bus stop)
Elevator Button

He also liked the following rides: Dumbo, Pooh, Buzz, Toonland, Jungle Cruise.

Favorite Characters - Couldn't get enough of Pooh, Tigger and Minnie.

I would highly recommend the Character meals at Crystal Palace (Pooh and friends) or Chef Mickey's (Mickey anf friends).

DS loved these!

LOL!! Too funny! :hyper:

mr. poohbrain, (I just love that user name hee, hee:) )

Those are my 2yr. olds favs too. It just cracks me up:rotfl:

My 15 month old loved anything that spun. Such as: Dumbo, Triceratops, Aladdin. He also loved Pooh, the carrousel, Peter Pan, etc. He had a great time in FOTLK until he fell asleep right in the middle of clapping to the music!! He also conked out in Spaceship Earth and El Rio del Tiempo. He didn't quite get the safari, but loved the animals on the surrounding trails.

Have a great trip!

That reminds me about the time we took DS to the local zoo. His favorite animal was the ducks that you can see in any local park.

As for rides... if this past summer was any indication... DD who is 1 1/2 loved the carousels at the places we visited... everytime we passed it we had to go on.

We just got back with our 2 DS's (18 months & 3 years). My 3 year old rode everything that he could get on, and my baby went on everything that he could pass the height requirement.

Things our 18 month old loved (aside from elevator buttons, of course):

- Dumbo (he cried to get on whenever he saw it)
- Pooh, Pooh and more Pooh
- The water fountains (that you play in): Donald's Boat and the dancing fountains at Epcot.
- Buzz Lightyear (he outscored his 3 year old brother - 1200 points!).
- Magic Carpets & Triceratops Spin
- The carousel
- The park in Toon Town (a great place to let them stretch their legs).
- The following characters: BUZZ!, Pooh, Mickey (Cinderella made him cry... go figure) - Lunch at the Crystal Palace was a very good time.
- The Legend of the Lion King (he loves the music)
- The monorail
- The ducks at the resort
- The pool at the resort
- The sand on the beach at the resort

Things our 18 month old seemed like well enough

- Pirates
- Peter Pan
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority
- The train
- The Jungle Cruise

Everything else he tolerated, but didn't get too excited about. He didn't cry, either.

Mr. Poohbrain: LOL...our DD(just turned 2 in July) also gets a great deal of enjoyment out of the elevator button. She actually gets insulted if one of us attempts to press the button first.

I am really enjoying this post. December will be DD's 1st trip to WDW (she will be 2 1/2) so I am interested in this topic as well.

I'm also enjoying this thread. My DD will be 2 1/2 when we go next spring and although she's been once before, at 1 1/2, they grow and change so quickly. Too quickly, lol. I find it SO interesting to read about what other 2 year olds enjoyed. I hadn't even thought of the "non-rides" like transportation and fountains...hmmm, maybe I should be sure to allow extra time for those things in our itinerary, LOL. ;)

At 1 1/2 DD's favorites were:
At MK: birds on Tom Sawyer Island, Dumbo, Pooh, Dream Parade, Wishes, (we missed Spectro)
At Epcot: the lights in the sidewalk at night, Illuminations
At AK: TriceraTop Spin, the tigers, TriceratopSpin, and did I mention TriceraTop Spin?
At MGM: Playhouse Disney, Fantasmic

She also loved all the characters except Cinderella  , and all of the "props" at the Winter Summerland mini golf course...we had an impossible time trying to get her out of the photo-op sleigh at the end!

She didn't cry over anything, but didn't care for the 3D movies much.

Mrs. Poohbrain,
The elevator button is STILL dd4's favorite thing in the world.

DD was 15mos when she went for the first time and she liked Dumbo, ALladins magic carpets, tea cups, WInnie the Pooh, Buzz etc. Was OK on Snow white. SHe loved Small World, sat down refused to get in her stroller and signed more. So we rode it 3 more times. At Epcot she loved, Space ship earth.

She will be 3 1/2 on this trip and loves elevator buttons too. When my niece and nephew went last year, they liked the lizards.
