SOOOO.. where are you going to celebrate your fabulous finish for the 1/2!:)

I am meeting up with some friends from high school and we are still deciding. I would like to be around other runners celebrating as well..

as far as history goes, where does everyone go? a park? downtown Disney?

I wanna be where all the hoopla is!! :rotfl:;)

I leave tomorrow!!! :scared1: Yippie!! I guess I better pack! :lmao:

I am headed to the resort for a shower, brunch and then a walk. From there, to a park to keep the legs loose so the next morning is manageable.

As far as tradition and what folks do, it is honestly all over the place. a few years back Disney would open Pleasure Island to runners for a post race party. It was a fun event seeing folks who just ran trying to shake their groove thing. Once they closed PI the tried to hold a post race party in DHS but it was later and not well attended. This year, well nothing official.

DO wear your medal for the remainder of your trip when leaving your room. Is is a badge of honor that will make your the center of attention no matter where you go. Also, while one would think that there is a pecking order, Goofy, Mickey and Donald, honestly there is not. All runners know and share a common bond in a job completed, regardless of 5k or 40 miles. We all love to listen to the stories of the fight, the achy knee the funny lady at the water stop, etc. Non runners will not know the difference between a half or Goofy so lay on your war stories.

I am also heading to the hotel room for a shower and then breakfast at Tusker House! We will be in AK for the day (well, I will only be there until early afternoon) and then an early dinner at 'Ohana before I do it all again in the morning for the full!
I, of course, will be wearing my medal all day Saturday. Can't wait to see Donald's reaction at breakfast:donald:

thank you coach! I will wear that Donald medal with pride! One year ago I set a goal to start running and run the Disney 1/2... and I am very proud that I kept that goal and will get that medal on Saturday... but now I have my sight set on Mickey!! :lmao::thumbsup2

My traditional celebration has always been later in the day with dinner at Boma. I did it on Saturday night after both halves and will be doing it Sunday night this year. Walking around the resorts or parks with your medal will get you a lot of congratulations.

yes, I am looking more for at night.. after the race I will go back to the resort for a bit, eat, shower, etc.. maybe nap.. but was wondering what to do at night.
Not sure if we are going to go into a park.. I will have local friends who are not running coming over to celebrate with us and I would hate for them to have to pay a park ticket just to come visit us..

Our tradition is to relax for the rest of the day at our resort (Wyndham Bonnet Creek) by the pool and then head to DTD. This year there are 17 of us and we have a reservation at Raglan Road at 4:45pm. That was the only time they would seat a group as big as ours. I'm sure we'll just hang there for the night.

Good luck to you in the race. We fly out tomorrow bright and early.
