1/2 IM Race Report

Mike, your RR is such a great read. Congratulations on your first tri and an IM 1/2 at that. Very impressive all around.

Highlights of your RR for me included:
1) Your TP is a hoot. You two obviously are good for each other and share a similar sense of humor. "My TP laughed like a maniac, which in fairness, I would have done the same thing to him." I want to see the two of you together!
2) Any reason to get new/additional gear--like tires--works for me.
3) So glad to hear you were able to change your Clydesdale class. And loved your definition of a Clydesdale. Now I want to be one.
4) Super 8 hotels! :scared: 'Nuff said.
5) “This is your first tri…ever?” :lmao:
6) I was charmed by the inside-out wetsuit. It's those kinds of touches that make me see me in other athletes.
7) I think I would have freaked out with all those bodies in the water next to me. Like a bad horror movie. Glad to see you kept a calm, cool head.
8) "Go, Sneezy!" "I'm inside you!" And you kept your sense of humor on the bike! You deserve the groupies--and maybe a restraining order! :lmao:
9) Ah, your support crew is there at the run, cheering you on. I bet you must have been floating at that point.
10) What is it with races and cowbells. I mean, we own one but don't know why we have it?
11) Yay for seeing TP on the running course and exchanging fist bumps. Very hip of you! And so cool that you caught up with, and passed, him! (And he was very cool with it, too.)
12) Reading about the race was an awesome experience, and you are an awesome athlete. It must have been a subliminal experience to finish and finish so strong!
13) (To go with the mileage): Your pictures are all centerfold worthy (well, at least the ones that ARE you)!

Great job, and it's been a privilege being with you here on WISH through your training and to hear about your event! :cheer2:

Mike---great report!! Sounds like you had a blast, which is the #1 reason to be one of the idiots (I mean Endurance Athletes)! ;)

As for the wetsuit....it happens. You'll learn. Same about having your bike in the wrong gear at the start.

Good job for being cool to the volunteers/spectators and encouraging your fellow athletes...that's part of what makes it fun...as well as the huge sense of accomplishment you must feel. :goodvibes

Ipod...I don't train with one, except only on a few occasions (a long run here and there). If I can't have it in a race, why become dependent on it? I actually like the peace and quiet now on my training runs, and then I don't miss it in a race.

GREAT JOB!!! What's next? :)

:worship: :worship: :worship:
OMG. I had no idea this was your first tri. What kind of over achiever are you? ;)

Dh and I decided it would be a good night before the race read. Not sure if that was a good idea or not, but you are an amzing inspiration. Wow....

Huge congrats!!!!!! Thanks for the awesome report!

PS - Your thermodynamics talk has you sounding like a fellow engineer. Scary. ;)

To quote Squirt from Finding Nemo: "That was totally awesome dude. You rock!"
I didn't like the part about the water though. Not nice...ooohhh, it makes me hyperventilate just thinking about it. I was at Lake Eugenia today and I thought that was just manageable at about 79...
