OK you guys....can we stop talking about flying.....I am trying to forget that part of the trip. I know that it is still 35 days away but the closer it gets the more nervous I get....(about the flying part that is) .... I am certain once I see the Magic I will completely forget about the flight....that is until January 22nd when I have to get back on that airplane to come home. I sure wish I had talked my DH into driving :moped: instead of flying.

Karebear1: I think Houzer and I have decided to go to the Dis Meet. However, I am not sure about our families yet.

You'll be fine Meshee!! I will make sure of that ;) !! :rolleyes1 :drinking1 ;)

Hi Meshee,

Mark of "mark & sandra" is a friend of mine on another cruise. Anyway, as you know, we hijacked your thread, lol, and I saw your post. I wanted you to know that I also have a fear of flying. And, because of it, we did not do out-of-state traveling for many years. Now, I take a xanax - 25 mg. one hour before getting on the plane. I tried it prior at home so I'd know what it would feel like. I get a little sleepy for about 4 hours, but that is OK. It works for about 6 hours. I've only taken it on trips with my dh, never alone. It basically turns off the "fear" portion of the brain. I call my physician, leave a message that I need Xanax for my trip for my "fear of flying." I highly recommend this to help you with your fears! I think I could fly without the xanax now, but I've been too chicken to not take it. Also, the generic brand does not work as well for me, so I ask my doctor to give me the actual xanax. Hope this helps! It's OK to take for a short bit...my doctor usually gives me 10 pills.

Best wishes!

Barbara

We have started getting some summer clothes out and laying them out to get ready to pack. I plan on sweatshirts for the 3 days we will be at Disney, but I hope the cruise will be warmer.

Ok I have a question for all you cruisers and all who live in warm climates. I live in Ontario where it can get really cold and damp so we live in wool sweaters, sweatshirts and don't forget that turtleneck or you'll get a chill. Anyway my question is do I need sweatshirts and how many. I really am unsure about how to pack. I have been checking the temps for the different places we are traveling and so far it looks like I'll be in short and t-shirts for sure but I want to be prepared. Remember we have weather that can drop to -20C within a day here so we need to be prepared at all times. I guess the planner is coming out in me and I am REALLY having a hard time with this.

Pauline :boat:

Pauline- I'm bringing a sweater/sweatshirt and 1 pair of pants- everything else is summer stuff. I figure if iot's that cold, I'll just stay inside the ship!

Can you pm me with your names for the nametags for the meet? I know you said your not sure who is coming- but that's opk. I'll just make them for everyone- no big deal.

Houzer- We did our first cruise this same week last year. Port Canaveral was about 60 degrees, with the wind, it felt a lot colder., but coming from NY where it was 10 degrees, it felt like a heat wave. When the ship was moving it was cold up on Deck 9 and 10. Key West was mid 70's and it got warmer as we went South. Grand Cayman and Cozumel were high 70's low 80's. Castaway Cay was cold in the morning, but warmed up nice in afternoon. Perfect to lay out and get a suntan. The water was pretty cold. My kids avoided swimming and they usually will swim anywhere they're allowed too. I do think they were a little freaked out about swimming in the ocean, especially after our sting-ray excursion. The pools on-board are heated and they always swam in them, no matter how chilly it seemed...Mark

Okay so I guess you know you are getting close to your cruise date when the dreams just won't stop!! A few nights agao it was that the rroms were like sleeper cars on a train! Last night it was that the kids clubs were closed down. What next?? I think I have a pretty good handle on this trip. There is alot of planning with our first week and I am looking forward to relaxing on the cruise. I can't really start packing and organizing things until after Christmas, so I don't know why the anxiety dreams??? ANyone else having dreams?? :wizard:

Well I can't say I have had any dreams but the anxiety is really setting in. I am a compulsive planner and I know it gets on my DH nerves sometimes but that is just the way it goes. I haven't even started to get out the skidoo suits for our first trip yet which I usually have already packed by now each year. I am finding this a little overwelming this year with both trips so close together and my caseload at work has gone bizerk!!! I am really scared about getting sick because I had pneumonia twice last year once walking pneumonia and I went a month not allowing myself to give in...you know nurses and social workers are the worst!!! I am allowed to say that not anyone else!! ;) Anyway HELLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP I need a holiday just to get my head on staight and calm myself down!!! Sorry just venting>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>! :boat: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :charac2: :charac2:

Look at the bright side Pauline. At least you're not worrying about flying!! Oh sorry Meshee!!

Last year Sandy had some dreams about the kids falling off the verandah. When we first got into our room we went out to look off the verandah and my son, of course, leaned up onto the rail, that was it for her!! Even though he was 9, she forbid him from even going out there again unattended...Mark

:grouphug: Well it looks like we are all having our little quirks come out with this cruise from packing, flying, verandahs and dreams etc. I am thinking it is the pre-cruise perfection gitters. ::yes:: I think we need to come up with an idea of how to get rid of these!! What do you think!! Good thoughts and pixie dust for everyone! :wizard:

MARK!!! Does this look familiar...I just happen to find it on another meet posting! Remember there are Canadians on this post are you trying to say something about us???
(Sorry everyone the pictures wouldn't show up!)

"Notice to the residents of Cherranna,

We regret to inform you that Canada's army will be tied up in Kabul this winter. As a result you will have to shovel your own snow. Since we are so (sniff) compaaasionate and caring, we have proved a tutorial on the use of a snow shovel.

First of all you must take a test in order to see if you qualify for the tutorial. The first question is: Which one is the snow shovel? Hint drag curser over image for clue.

Congratulations if you picked the center you qualify for the tutorial.

Step One- Grasp shovel as you would a hockey stick as shown in picture. We don't recommend that you wear skates or roller blades as this may greatly inhibit your efforts.

Step Two- Hold shovel with mouth parallel or in a horizontal position with respect to the ground, as shown in picture. Holding the shovel in vertical manner such as like a hockey stick for example will prove most ineffective.

Step Three- Push shovel into snow. You may notice that snow will collect on the mouth of the shovel. Note: This may take some practice.

Step four- Turn body (yours that is) 180 degrees, not to be confused with three university degrees. You will turn completely around and turn shovel upside down. That is providing you have some snow on the shovel.

As a special government benefit, Sheila Copps, The Minister of blond jokes and failed leadership candidate will provide the snow shovels free of charge.

Department Of National Defence Memo."

Somewhere in this thread there must be a time/place for the Meet. But I cannot find it.... So as we approach the 30-day mark, can someone either post the details or PM me? I am travelling with DH, DS-1 (age 12) and DS-2 (age 4).

I am VERY excited about our first ever cruise on DCL. Its a Christmas Surprise for the kids... Under the tree will be a Giant Mickey Mouse holding the DCL Cruise DVD.

If anyone is interested in introducing the kids, let me know...

The Dis Meet is scheduled for Sunday- January 16 from 10-11am in Sessions. Please let me know if you would like name tags for whoever will be there from your group.
