1/10/09- EARLY Roll Call! Who's coming?

Jennifer - just watched the Weather Channel and we're going to have snow showers tonight and tomorrow in mid-Michigan! Yikes!!!

I've always wanted to vacation in January and I'll be getting my wish in less than 75 days.

My DD in Kzoo is a home schooling mom, too! She works out of her home as a CPA.

Yikes is right!!! This is WAY too early to be getting snow! My poor dd (2) is wearing her Cinderella costume on Friday - she'll be SOOO cold! We've been told we're getting flurries and the kids are excited, but nothing yet.

Very cool about your dd!! How old are her kids? Is she going to be on the cruise?

She is doing preschooling with Sean who is 4.5, and she will continue homeschooling. Younger sister is 2.5.

DD will not be on this cruise. 11 of us in our family, including Kzoo DD and family, cruised the Wonder 2 months ago. Their hooked on DCL!

This cruise is just Carla, my DD's m-i-l (this DD lives in Wyandotte). and me. Carla was on our Wonder cruise and she, too, got hooked! My DH will stay back in Michigan and work!

Cool! We love homeschooling! I hope your dd continues to enjoy it!

Look forward to meeting you!

Made an appt for my wife to get a facial and reg my DD for the kids club. My wife is graduating from Nursing school in December, so this is our celebratory (sp?) cruise.

Congrats to your wife! That's exciting! I'm thinking of registering for a spa treatment of some sort. I may wait until we're on board though.

72 days!!

Oops!! So are you another single mom cruising? I am a single mom with a 12 yr old daughter. How old is your kiddo?

I'm a widowed grandmother going with the 7 year old grandson. My husband and I had taken the other three grands on cruises without the parents but MJ was too young. Then my husband got cancer last year and when he lost that battle, I decided to do this cruise with MJ. I know we will have a great time.:wizard:

Went to the fabric store today and will make my own fish extender - I'm not too crafty so this be interesting!:rotfl:

Hi Rosemary: Sorry to hear about your husband. I'm sure you and your DGS will love the Disney Magic. Two months ago, we cruised with four of our six grandchildren on the Disney Wonder. What great memories they and I have.

This cruise, it's just Carla and me. Carla is my DD's m-i-l. She was on our Wonder cruise and by day 4 we decided to cruise together. After lunch, we headed to deck 4 and signed up for this cruise. My DH will stay home and work!

I am craft challenged. I bought a fish extender on Ebay from another DISer.

When Carla and I booked this cruise, we decided not to reserve a specific stateroom, just a category. Are any of you on a guaranteed reservation and have you heard what your stateroom number is?

I'll answer my own question! There's a thread on the general DCL board. It averages about 2-3 weeks before a cruise.

Also, I haven't read all the past posts, but has it been decided to have a DIS meet?

Was surfing some of the travel sites to see how "full" the ship is for our week. The upgrade fairy is going to be busy soon!

I was just coming over here to say the same thing, that our ship is pretty empty right now. Thing is, I really LIKE where my cabin is located (aft deck 5 inside cat 11), for the kids club and stuff, and unless they were upgrading me to a balcony, I really don't want to be on deck 1 or 2 with a porthole.
Some may think I am crazy, but I would give up the window to keep my location - is that really crazy?????
Part of me says 'go with the flow' and take an upgrade if I get it, but another part of me just wants to stay put in my chosen room.

When we will start to see DCL upgrading the insides to make more cheaper booking space?

I feel about the same. DW and I have had this same cabin on two previous cruises. We like the spot for a number of reasons, one being the muster station is *not* outside for the abandon ship drill. The other major reason it is off the beaten track for traffic. Very low noise.

I love your location on deck 5 aft. It's quiet and convenient to many places on the ship. There's that small "sitting area" in the corner and across from the aft deck 5 elevators - three chairs and a small table. We cruised on the Magic 2 years ago with friends and that was our meeting place.

Last cruise on the 10-4-08 Magic, my DH and I had a sideways (inside) cabin on deck 6 forward. We like the extra space we seem to have in that cabin.

Where will the muster station be for deck 5 aft cabins?

Most of those muster in AP. You get to sit in somewhat comfort. I say somewhat as the life vests are anything but comfortable. The drill is needed, quick, and you get a goofy photo (if you desire, my DW is too bashful for me to photograph her like this).
