Tina Sorry about your loss we are all thinking of you.
Yesterday was a bad day for us . Yesterday afternoon we got a call from our oldest son. He had received a call from the collage where his son our grands son attends that while he was mowing lawns for the collage as part of a work project he accidently severed his big toe while mowing. He had surgery on it last night. They couldn't attach it so he is without a big toe. So there goes his football for this year. The coach tells him they make a special shoe so he might be able to play next year. He is one heartbroken kid. The school is resposible so we will see what happens.
Yes Mary and Joan you saw the picture I sent of him. I hope thats not his last game.
Well enough of that Nancy and I are getting ready to go for a walk then come back and work on packing. Boy time is just flying by.
Catch you all later

OMG that is awful. Was he wearing shoes or sandles? I am always yelling at my kids not to mow in flip flops. I hope all goes well for him.

It is getting very exciting. It seems like many of us are dealing with a lot of things that might damper our excitement right now, but I know that everything will work out and we will all have a fantastic time. I need an escape from reality like many of you, and this will surely fit the bill!

Very true Kamy. :grouphug: and prayers for everyone that needs them. Big stress and small. We have a great group and we are all blessed to soon be meeting up and sailing together on the Member Cruise.

Isn't it great that we have a group to share these feelings with, many don't.

You are so right. With the sale of our company I have so much work and yesterday my boss put in his 2 week notice. So my last day before vacation will be his last day. So every one is freaking out that we will both be gone at the same time. Oh well.... I will probably have to work all week end but then that's two days vacation I won't use. I just need time to iron and pack. So if you see me in the same clothes for 4 days you will know why.

To add to my day I had a flat on my way to work. All sorts of cars were honking at me and pointing so I pull over. No one stopped to help me though. SO I played the pathetic wife and called Roger. I didn't want to get sweaty- plus it was right by the base so he was there in a minute. If I had been farther I would have done it myself.:rotfl: maybe!

Happy Tuesday all.

:goodvibes Thanks Mary and Joanne!
Mary- sometimes the small stresses feel the biggest!
Joanne- I would have called dh too!!! I can change it myself if I have to, but if he is close by I would definitely have him change the tire. Sorry that happened to you....people just aren't nice on the roads these days.

We have had a lot of drama in the past few months, but the biggest thing for us is that dh is still not working after 6mths. 3 mths was by choice, but now it is causing a major crunch. He doesnt like me to say anything to anyone, but it is hard sometimes. Good thing at the beginning of the year we took all our onboard spending money and put it into Disney gift cards so we wouldnt spend it! That is saving this trip for us!

It is nice to have the DIS and I cannot wait to meet you all and sail away!

I am seriously considering doing things differently on this cruise than I have on all the others I have been on. Seems I have gotten into a pattern where I always do the same things on the cruises. I might just, after going to Wavebands to try and get Palo ressies, head to deck 9 for junk food, drinks and a dip in the pool! We usually go to the buffet.
And I might even skip dinner one night in the dining room!! WHOA! I have never done that....and maybe skip a show.....

DH and I really want to relax, enjoy our time together, meet new people, laugh, etc......

Do you most you repeat cruisers do the same things each time?????

We try to mix things up a bit but we have never skipped dinner in the dining room.

On our April cruise we were sailing with good friends that we have sailed with a couple of different times. This was the first time we met up before the cruise itself as they met us at the Airport and we drove over to the port together (split the cost of a van) and stayed at the Hampton Inn that night. Anyway they have 2 kids and always sit by the Mickey Pool so the kids can enjoy it (though this year they spent more time in Goofy pool). We get on board Mark and her DH Mike and the kids head up to deck 9. Karen and I head to Beat Street to add them to our Palo Brunch reservation. When we get up to deck 9 their son Nick is eating pizza. I'm a pretty picky eater and don't eat much on the first day buffet. That pizza looked so good that's what I went and got. I really enjoyed it. It was like our 11th cruise and I had never had the pizza before. I just might get some this time as well. :)

We usually do skip the main shows as we have seen them before but we always go to the special shows. Last year DVC had two of them and they were both fantastic.

This vacation, like most of ours, is for us first and foremost. We adore you all and we love meeting everyone but we also enjoy time to ourselves. It is a great mix.

Mark summed it up pretty well back on the 2005 cruise thread (when we had a little drama). Here's why we do what we do (note: the whole thing about being a leader was before we were even moderators :rotfl: ).

Well, being as I work all day with no internet access, I am alone with my thoughts and really felt I need to address some things.

The buttons.

Why I make the buttons. I make them to share in the excitement over this special event. I make them to give all the members of the Dis going an opportunity to get together easier than it would normally. I do have a small personal motivation in that I have a problem keeping names(doubt I'm alone in that one either), until I really work them in, and my hearing is not very good. Don't expect me to keep your name attached to seeing you right off for the first time, not going to happen.

Not why I make the buttons. I do not want or expect any kind of loyalty or friendship over the buttons themselves. I am not trying to 'buy' anyone with them, and do not expect any kind of compensation for them, money or gifts. No cash, and I will outright refuse any 'guilt' type gifts for them as well. Don't feel guilty, they are free, will continue to be free, no matter if you have any participation in this group or not. Take a good look at the button list. you'll see a lot of unfamiliar Dis names. And that's ok too. The buttons may help with these people getting together too. And it's everyone's personal choice what you do with them. Wear them to meet new people, put them away if you don't, means all the same to me. I personally will be wearing mine as much as possible. I look forward to meeting everyone.

The whole group thing.

I said it earlier in response to that guy who was kind of paranoid of being part of one. Don't be. I don't expect, and think others don't either, of this group staying together for every thing all the time. I accept all of you equally whether you want to do things with us or not. We are not clones, we are individuals and all different. It's going to be a natural thing from some to group off with people they already know, but that is not an exclusive thing for me, I welcome the newcomers right alongside the people who I have known since I began reading the Dis. If you're feeling left out of something stop us and ask. I am avoiding a certain word purposefully, for me that 'c' word doesn't exist. never did, never will. And I really have very short, maybe even cruel feelings for attempts to form one.

The website and leading the Dis meets.

Don't go looking to Mary or I to be a true 'leader' of this group. We do not want that dubious distinction. Mary and I do this whole meets with the website thing to just act as a point of reference for everyone to have. Someone has to step up and do it, and between the two of us we do our best to get it done. My personal opinion is there is no purpose or need for a 'leader'. We are a very wide group with a lot of differing interests and we are not going to agree on everything. It is that simple when you get right down to it.

How I view the cruise in general.

This will be a very exciting event with a lot going on for just 5 days. I look forward to all the events and time spent with other Disers. However, I work in a company with 110 employees who I interact with most of them all day, every day. For me a cruise represents relaxation and time for Mary and I to spend with each other. Doesn't mean I won't share that time with others too, but I do look forward to some alone time and the fact of being on vacation from work with all the stresses both mental and especially physical. Trips are a time for me to heal, and to strengthen that sometimes stressed bond with my wife.

My sometimes bluntness.

Sorry, I try to not mince words. If I feel strongly about something I am going to speak about it in the most direct way I can even if that sometimes is brutally honest. That is very much just me, usually of very few words but always words that mean exactly what they say, nothing more, nothing less. It puts off people sometimes as they think I am being short with them in anger or something, no, I am just normally very brief. Don't put hidden meaning in anything I write or say, it just isn't there.
