I once took the overnight train from NYC to Chicago (Lakeshore Limited), overnight again from Chicago to New Orleans (The City Of New Orleans) and then the Southern Crescent from New Orleans back to NYC. Took me 5 days and it was fabulous! I meant all kinds of interesting people but everyone felt compelled to tell you why they were taking the train instead of flying. I did it just for fun!

It looks like I have the birthday that won't go away. My loving family decided I needed a surprise party. 50 just seems to go on for ever. It was nice to see all our friends.

Good morning everyone. We are back safe and sound from Indiana. Holiday World was awesome. All the scouts had a blast. Got home Sunday around noon, took a LONG HOT shower, then had lunch and then went a bought a new cell phone. I went crazy and got the Instinct. You know Sprints version of the I-phone. It has so many bells and whistles it will will take some getting use to.

Well got to get back to work. will check in later at home.

Happy birthday Steph, Mike, and Lucas! I am sorry I missed them. I got a call last Wednesday from a very dear friend inviting me to go that day to a beach in NC with her. A childhood friend of her's owns a house at Emerald Isle and it had become available at the last minute. I had not been there since I was a teen. It hasn't changed that much, so I was happy about that! It was beautiful and I enjoyed a chance to catch up with my friend and relax! Lots happened on here while I was gone! I have caught up though and am glad to see the new people (Welcome Alex's Mom) and to see my husband participating more!

Ahhhh...you were in my neck of the woods. We go to Emeral Isle all the time. Own timeshare there too. Glad you had a good time.

Ahhhh...you were in my neck of the woods. We go to Emeral Isle all the time. Own timeshare there too. Glad you had a good time.

So can you smuggle aboard a Big Oak Drive-In shrimp burger for me please??? Real estate prices there surprised me in a good way. My college roomie's grandmother was a mayor of Bolivia and they owned a house at Holden, so our treks down the Crystal Caost beaches were numerous. I do love it there. What's up with the sea turtles though, do you know? There used to be so many, and now, they are all but gone. Also, a girl was bitten by a shark on Emerald Isle while we were there and had to be rushed to the hospital. She was in the water at dusk though - prime feeding time! Emerald Isle is truly beautiful and really hasn't changed that much! Yippee!
