I ran out of gas. I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! It wasn't my fault, I swear to god!

(Jake Blues as played by the late, great John Belushi)

"No really ... Al Bebach ..."

This a screen name that I use for our local newspaper's comments section. It just sounded cool! :thumbsup2

Dad was based at NOB Norfolk on the USS Surabachi (spelling may be off) , then worked at Ford's Norfolk Assembly Plant before being transferred to the Chicago area.
USS Suribachi AE-21. Dad said that it carried enough ammo that if it ever blew up, it would take a week for the ocean to fill the hole back up!
:thumbsup2

oh drew got the slack job a few years back, he left the AT field (fixing f18 radars) and going out to sea for a different job that doesn't have sea duty. i always tell people thank you when they say that. but when his most "adventurous" work is 3 weeks in germany for digital war games and i have friends over in the sandbox i remember how lucky i am. this week drew is in Rhode Island as the only enlisted person in a war college set of war games w/ a bunch of officers as hes the subject specialist. on the flip side my old roomate and dear friend is in yuma preparing w/ her bomb dog to go to Afghanistan. so yup drew is navy. but there are people in way more intense fields. im not by any means down playing what drew does, or the importance of it. but i also know that i sat last night crying while looking at a pic of a soldier returning home from the back of a plane, with a flag over him, and an honor guard at attention honoring him. those are the guys i thank. but thank you. :)

Watch a movie called "Taking Chance". I think you'll enjoy it. I did! It's emotionally draining but VERY good!

oh.. since i just sorta rolled in.. and hadnt be in disboards in awhile. just so yall know who i am.. hi, im autumn. born and raised in hampton va (oldest continuous english speaking city in the us of a). i spent 11 years working in williamsburg va 2 blocks from busch gardens for the local rainbow swingset then woodplay swing set dealership doing sales, customer service, and warranty, then 3 weeks before xmas this year they announced they were closing my store leaving me jobless. have no fear. having 3 weeks of paid vaca on the books, i found a new job, IN hampton for the local BG products distributor. i :love::love::love: my new job. 8 min commute, less drama, no weekends. w00t.. i am also a scentsy consultant. i am married to Drew, whose in the Navy for umm i think hes at 17 years this august. we've been married 7 years. no 2 legged kids, just the 4 legged type. some cats and a beagle. we found dvc on our honeymoon while staying at asm but were mid house buying so we held off until 06 when back in town for a navy computer system conference dodad. our original homeport is ssr, we added on in '10 at ak during the bay lake tour. we're both rather gagdety, and techno geeks. and huge disney junkies, which drew wasnt until we got married. hes a stitch/jack/jack fan. im an ariel/mulan girl. :)
edit: i forgot. drew is a pirate rein-actor. he was w/ blackbeards crew, but now the devils deck hands. and i am a unpaid disney park trip planner for friends going for the first time and push the dvc tour. had my scentsy lead down their for a scentsy incentive trip recently, we spent 2 hours going over parks etc, and i said TAKE the tour! she did. they are joining. in the words of drew. "one of us one of us" lol
Wishing you a great big, hearty :welcome: to the SSMC members :boat: group!

Only 98 more Pages To Go!!!
Well, that isn't too bad. I think we could do that in about 1470 posts. That could take as little as 980 hours with only 1 person working at it. And that is almost 41 days. I bet we can do that in much less time with more participation, which we will get, I'm sure! :thumbsup2

I grew up in Norfolk ... just a quick hop over the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (one of the few bridges I actually like.)
Because it is parallel to the water. Flat, in other words. Now, I know that the Ambassador Bridge isn't one of your favorites.
