How is everyone doing? I hope they are all better!

I hope that the twins are doing better. I read that book about the explosive stuff with babies "Brown Spot on The Wall" by Whoflung Dung ... (It's an old, old joke from like 3rd grade .... Truffle told it to me many many years ago! :rotfl2:)

What do you think about plans

Will I be kicked off of the ship w/ a 1000 pick-up??

I think 9am is the latest they want people off the ship. They have to get everyone off the ship before they can start checking people in for the next sailing.

I read the sequel, Race to the Bathroom by Will E. Makeit

Do you think I can hang around port for an hour? I understand luggage can not be checked in before 4 hours preflight. We are flying Southwest.

I've no idea what the baggage pickup area looks like or if you'd be allowed to hang around there for an hour or so. This is my first cruising experience. :goodvibes I don't think they'll let you into the area where you wait to get _on_ the ship, because I think they check to make sure you are listed as passengers on the sailing leaving that day. But, perhaps an experienced cruiser has a better idea?

There used to be benches right outside the terminal. I'm not sure if they are still there with all the construction that's been going on.

That was illustrated by Betty Dont if I remember correctly. I would go to the Gurgle to check on that. :surfweb:

(I think that we have gone about as far we can go with these before we sink into some really POOR humor! )

:teleport: back to our scheduled discussions ...

need info? When we leave the disney dream we are going to disneyworld. Has anybody used the disney trasportation from the port to their resort? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
So do they take your luggage off the ship with you and put it in the same bus or do they take the luggage off and ship first and put in a seperate spot and load it and take up to your resort and it comes to your room later in the day when you arrive at disney.
Sandy

you go to your area where your bags will be , get them take them over to go thru immagration then head to the bus area. Take your bags with you to the bus for your resort give them to driver , board and get your bags when you get off at resort.

Hello All!

It's been several weeks since I have been out here on the thread. Sounds like other than a few minor illnesses - both people and pets - that all is well.

Hope all those impacted by the tragic events in Japan are well and staying safe. I feel so helpless watching the events on TV. The ongoing issues around the nuclear plant are just so scary.

I'm actually finding it hard to get excited about making my ADRs this week and planning vacation when so many people are struggling. I realize on any given day there are people all around the world that are struggling but when it's not presented to you on all forms of media non stop it's more like out of sight out of mind I guess. Sorry to bring everyone down. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing similar feelings. My kids and I have decided to take a portion of our vacation savings and donate to the relief efforts. We just have to decide what we will cut from our vacation. We are leaning towards not doing the dining plan and being a little more frugal with our spending on meals while at WDW. This will also help cut down on our waitlines also. I'm really proud of the kids for not complaining or being selfish.:thumbsup2 We'll make our final decision together as we review our vacation budget. :teacher: My employer is coming out with a special matching program on donations made through them for this specific cause so I will be sure to take advantage of that and double our donation. :thumbsup2

Regarding the adult pool, I am in total agreement with Ian. I have 2 kids and I look forward to enjoying the adult only areas...something I did not have an opportunity to do on the SSMC09 (1st cruise ever!). I would never think to bring my kids to the adult pool....not sure what these other families were thinking.

Well, I am a silent participant on a work call as I type this. I guess I better go for now as it just opened up for questions.

Hey everybody!Sad day in the world today. Seeing the footage in Japan is so horrific. I was there in 2004 and absolutely loved it. The people are so proud, gentle, and kind. So much history and tradition emits from every corner. My aunt has been living there for the past six years. We spent all day trying to get in touch with her. I finally heard from her a few hours ago and she is fine. She lives in downtown Tokyo in a highrise. She said it took her hours to get home from work that afternoon. She got home 1am Japan time. People are of course devastated and scared, but they are pulling together. Actual Tokyo isn't in too bad of shape she said, but they do have some damage. I will update you as I get more "inside" information. :confused3 For our west-coasters.....stay safe. Thinking about you.:grouphug:
I'm glad to hear your aunt is doing fine, and I hope the nuclear plants aren't in TOO much damage. Prayers for your aunt!:flower3:
This is a very cool little photo story of how it is recently. Motorcycling through the Chernobyl Dead Zone This was done by a young lady who lives fairly close to it and ventured into that area with nobody but herself and her motorcycle. I haven't looked at it for a long time, but it is quite fascinating. I think I will revisit it soon.
I am definately going to check it out. :surfweb:
OK, you may recall that last weekend I punished myself for sneaking onto the computer and was grounded for two weeks. Well, I have been thinking about how sorry I am for doing that and apologized to myself. Since I am normally such a good boy and am such a hardworking person, I decided to reward myself for that. Yesterday morning I ordered an iPad2 to give to myself. :woohoo: It is a surprise so don’t tell, ok? :rotfl2: I hope that everyone is having a great start to their weekend. :thanks: By the way, today is my father’s 83rd birthday :cake: It has been a tough battle to get here and I am thankful I have been given another chance to celebrate with him.
Your secret is so safe with us! :thumbsup2 We know you work hard. :rolleyes1 And happy 83rd to your father :goodvibes Take many pics, life is so precious...:cloud9:

I'm sorry your doggie got sick! (And sorry he made such a yucky mess in your car!) I'm glad to hear he's doing better now. And I'm glad your family is fine after the earthquakes. I wouldn't imagine anyone would ever get used to them....they're so unpredictable and that's what's so scary!
I won't tell anyone about your surprise, especially you! :thumbsup2
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your father!!!! I hope you had a wonderful celebration with him today!! Wow, Ian! I've never read so much anger in one of your posts before! I sure hope those were false reports on kids in the adult pool, otherwise they better watch out for you!! But, I totally understand your point and why it is such an issue with you. I mean, ADULT area means ADULT area and there shouldn't be ANY compromising there. That has always been a major selling point for DCL, why would they jeopardize that? I really can't imagine DCL allowing kids in the adult pool. But, then again, I haven't been on the Dream yet to see how they handle the crowd control at the pools. I can't believe DCL messed up so bad on the pools, though. All that open deck space and they didn't make bigger pools. :confused3 It will be interesting to see if they make any changes to the Fantasy based on all the bad reviews of the pools on the Dream.
Thank you so much for the kind words for our doggie! :hippie: I think we need to get Ian a Conk Cooler before he boards the Dream...:drinking1 :rotfl2:
Uck! Sorry to hear that about your pup, and very glad to hear that he is doing better!
On a related note, we got a call from London this morning saying that everybody in DS household is in quarantine, do to that same thing your doggie had. One of the twins had the explosive part as his diaper was being changed. They had to measure the distance. :confused3 The wall stopped it from going any farther than 4 feet! And he is only 3 weeks old! :scared1: I sure wish that somebody could tell me when earthquake season is. I am having the hardest time getting that pinned down. I would love to go to certain places, but won't go there during earthquake season, so I need to know when that is. If anybody has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks! :thumbsup2
I'm glad your doggie is doing better. I'd take hurricanes over earthquakes (you get some warning) :scared1::scared1::scared1:
Our doggie is doing better now. :) His lab work came back negative, we figured he learned to use his nose to get into the garbage by lifting.the.lid.with.his.NOSE!!! If only we could train him to take out the garbage...:rotfl: I'm glad the baby is doing better  I feel really bad when little ones get sick and can't talk. As for earthquakes...There really is no way to predict when one occurs. We are due for one in the West coast. The best way to describe when an earthquake occurs is when there is a "stllness" in the air, a type of quiet, a sunny day. The animals start acting strange, that is if you are in tune with your pets...Then it hits, sometimes it begins as a silent rumble or straight to a JOLT. :scared: the biggest earthquake I was in was the Loma-Prieta earthquake, a 6.9 on the richter scale.
Help me decide- should I take DCL from resort and avoid early crowds at port check in or should I do a Limo and get and early start?
Get a limo, you have more freedom. :thumbsup2

So, we are doing the dining plan for the 3 nights at WDW after the cruise. I think we decided on Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at the Poly on Thursday (2 table credits) and then 1900Park Fare on Friday. We might also do lunch at Le cellier or Via Napoli on Saturday (just paying cash for that). I wanted to do Le Cellier for dinner but it's two table credits now and we've never done the dinner show at the Poly so I figured now is the time since the kids won't be with us. Lol

Isn't it funny how excited we all get just to make ADR's?! :rotfl:

I can't agree with you more! :) It's like sunshine on a cloudy day. :goodvibes
I am so looking foward to the cruise. :boat: I might just have to book another one when we get there! :beach: Until then, back to reality :sad2: ...Have a wonderful day! :flower3:

Made our limo ressies this morning! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I was in Long Beach back in 1995 for the Indy car race. Was on top of a scaffolding working as a communicator with a guy from LA. No cars on the track and the scaffold started shaking. I started to get a bit freaked. My coworker told me to not to worry. It was just a minor quake and that they happened all the time. I don't like the concept that the ground can just choose to move several city blocks on a whim. :confused3

I pray that the people affected by this will survive and that the souls of the lost find peace.

That is funny! We Potters had a 3 way conference call to figure out all ours for pre and post cruise!! ( I think it took like an hour!):lmao: Maybe by that time the GIGANTIC pile of snow will be gone from our cul-de-sac! :rotfl2:

Ian, sounds like a lot of bag schlepping to me! Surely they serve adult beverages along the way?:confused3
