09/18/11 - DVCers Take Over the Dream (S.S. Member Cruise 2011) - Thread #13

Well, I am sitting here at work where we lost power for about 45 minutes this am. I work in a office inside a building so I have no access to the outside world. When the storm came we were not able to open the door to the outside, when we did we got drenched! I have never seen it rain so hard. Our downtown (still without power) had windows blown out. Our house is about 6 blocks north of downtown. I am not sure if I will be able to get home, although I have lived in Appleton for 35 years so I am sure I will find a way home. I have seen pictures of my sisters back yard who is 6 houses from mine and she lost a tree. My parents also lost a tree they are to our north about 3 miles. Since I am sitting in the office waiting for a tanker to fill, I have been reading the paper. They are saying a "prolonged power outage". Don't they know I have FE gifts to finish and a swim suit cover up to make!! Any way we have phones that are able to communicate with you all and I thank you for your concerns. I won't be able to do this much typing on my phone so our posts will be short. Michael is home pulling branches to the curb, so maybe I can make work last a bit longer!!

Holy cow, that sounds pretty bad. Be careful as you travel watch for downed power lines. Mark always told me to assume they are live, better to be safe.

I read today someone on the FB page didn't get theirs yet.
Does everyone have what they need for the cruise? If not maybe we can see if someone else has spotted it somewhere, maybe that will help?

Mark is 100% correct in that. Just like guns, when you assume they are always loaded. Some things are better thought of as being most dangerous rather than thinking somebody did what they are supposed to do. Lives hang in the balance...

(My first try at that last sentence started "Loves", which could be true, but not exactly what my thought was.)

12:30-3:00 pm AquaDuck is Open. (Also have seen hours as 12:15 to 2:45. Wear swim gear onboard)---could not find this info.
1:00-3:30 pm Palo & Remy Bookings and Dining Assignment changes (D Lounge, deck 4 midship).----yep
1:30 pm Allowed access to room for first time (luggage should arrive before 5:30 pm).---correct
Just to check, there is NO early party on deck any more?---nope.. just 4:30pm
3:00 pm? DisBoard Meet and Greet (check current DisBoard discussion).
3:30-4:30 pm Palo & Remy reservation and dining schedule changes via phone (7-1831 / 1832).---yep
4:00 pm Mandatory muster drill for all passengers (except for those who just sailed B2B?).---correct, NOTE...you do NOT need to wear your life jacket, however it is crucial that you bring your KTTW card to your assembly station...ALL ship services will be suspended between 3:45-4:30pm
4:00 pm All Aboard.
4:30-5:15 pm Adventures Away! Sail Away Celebration, 45 min (arrive early if you want a good seat).
4:30-8:30 pm AquaDuck is open.
5:00 pm Cast off
5:00 pm Early Show in Walt Disney Theater, 3 & 4 Forward (The Golden Mickeys).---on my particular cruise, the first show started at 6:15 pm with the second show starting at 8:30pm. We also had a "special matinee" performance of Disney's Believe.
5:45 pm Early Dinner (consult Key to the World or Tickets for Dining Room and Seating Time).
6:00 pm Gift shops open with Ltd Edition DVC gifts for sale (usually sells out by end of cruise).
7:00 pm Middle Show in Walt Disney Theater, 3 & 4 Forward (The Golden Mickeys).
7:45-8:00 pm Bingo.
8:15 pm Late Dinner (as a courtesy to your table-mates, please be on time).
9:00 pm Late Show in Walt Disney Theater, 3 & 4 Forward (The Golden Mickeys).


Also, they do give ship tours. 1:00pm and 2:00pm tours. Meet at the Port Adventures Desk, Deck 5 Midship.

To change dining assignment...1:00-3:30....D Lounge, Deck 4 Midship and 3:30-4:30....dial 7-1831/1832

That is all I have!!! I am expecting things to go a little different since it is a Member's Cruise, but hopefully, this helps.

if you can find dried oatmeal thats great they will swarm around you and feed out of your hand almost. Ive used fruit loops also.

Don't worry, guys, I am a NEAT FREAK and can't stand it when the room gets messy.

For those of you who's cleaning consists of picking everything up off the floor and throwing it in the closet....that just might work in these staterooms since we can now store our luggage under the bed instead of in the closet.

I think everyone on here has their cruise docs.

I offered to keep an eye out for Jennifer (I think, it was you, Jennifer, wasn't it?) for a shoe organizer thing for her stateroom. Have not seen one yet. Been to the dollar store and Bed Bath & Beyond. But I haven't given up yet.

As for me....I think I have everything. It's just a matter of getting it all packed! LOL

It has been a little difficult because when I get a chance to go on the computer I am so wiped that I fall asleep within a page or two (either that or it is the content of Junior's posts...)

Seriously, I want to thank everybody for their kind thoughts and wishes during my trip, the storms, my surgery and recovery. I mentioned to a friend of mine that I have had a greater outpouring of support from this group than I have from anybody else including my family.

My healing is moving along, everything seems good and it is sore as expected. I will follow up with the doctor on Tuesday and expect to be back at work (on light duty) on Wed.

Michael and Nancy and anyone else who is being threatened by the weather, best wishes and please let us all know you are ok or what you need.
