Question???????????????

Since I will be taking a week off of teaching to go on a fabulous vacation, should I send a letter to the parents stating I am gone and why?? What should I say?? Parents, if your child's teacher were leaving for a week, would you want an explanation and what would you "like" to hear??

As a parent I would want to know that you are going to be out of town, and who will be in for you, but I don't think I would tell them where you will be. I work in an autism room, and will do the same for my students, just so the kids are prepared for my not being there.

Just spent five straight hours working on FE gifts......:headache:. I am STILL NOT done!

Good thing you're not doing a B2B! Good luck getting your FE's done!!

I would just tell them that you will be out for that week...I wouldn't go into detail as to why. I personally wouldn't expect a letter from my child's teacher, but that is a very professional & courteous thing to do! :thumbsup2

:worship: :worship: :worship: to you (AND Kelly) for your work! I can't imagine what it must be like to work with a whole class of autistic children. My daughter hasn't been diagnosed, but I would bet my life that she has Asperger's. I believe there are angels here on earth and they are people like you two that work with special needs children! :thumbsup2

SO, how's everybody's weekend going? I can't believe it's Sunday afternoon already!!!!! Where do the weekends go?! :lmao:

I have two questions about the cruise. 1. do the braclets really work for motion sickness? My mom is allergic to alot of the meds used for it.
2. Does the photo studio on the ship offer a cd with all of your pictures with the copy right, like the parks do? Thanks

As far as question 1 goes, Nancy used them when we went to Ireland on both the plane and whilst we driving around the country. She had little to no motion sickness.

The second question, I have no clue about.

I would let both the parents and the children know that you will out of town for whatever period of time that you will gone and if you know who will be covering your classes, who that person will be and what the class expectations will be in terms of behavior and classwork. I would not let them know where you are going. That is too much information.

A busy weekend for us starting on Thursday with our Downtown Concert. A huge crowd there. Friday evening was out to dinner at a neighborhood restaurant. Sitting on the "Spatio" (The name of the place is Spat's). A little live music (Sinatra, ect) as we ate. Then it was downtown for our Art on the Town Featuring Chalk on the Town. (See my Facebook page for a picture)

Saturday was farm market with a a band on the roof of one our local business'. The band was middle schoolers that played some great music and had a great time. They also opened for the headline act on Thursday night. Then in the late afternoon, we went to a fish boil at at a neighboring town's civic campus. It was a benefit for the fire fighters.

Today was brunch with Laura's (my sister) oldest daughter and then a bit of shopping and then doing home stuff.

WHEW! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

No, they don't need to know where you are going. If you want to let them know you will be gone that's fine. :thumbsup2

As a parent, I never cared much WHERE my child's teacher was going, I figured they had a right to vacation time as well as the rest of us. I DID care about what was being covered and that the teacher's absence would not delay the pace that had been set prior to the teachers absence. So a letter that you will be gone is good.. a letter explaining where is not necessary.;)

I wouldn't care if one of the teachers weren't there. I would make sure the kids knew why. That's all.

Here is the new car we are looking to order.

I also teach special education. My kids are higher functioning, but still emotional and they do not like change. I was hoping to ask for the same sub all days. Hopefully my principal will let that happen.:thumbsup2
