I'm back. I ran to the tanning bed. I normally do not do tanning beds, but this summer I got no tan at all. I figured I'd do all of you a favor and try to get a little tan so that my white legs do not cause you all to go blind when the bright sun glares off of them.

Two weeks from now, I will be trying to get my DD to go bed, but knowing her like I do, it will probably be another hour or so before she cooperates.

This is #700 for me!

Amanda, I have 300 to go. I really don't think I'll make it, but for you, I will try my best.

We are not arriving until the 15th either, we fly out of SC around 9 am, and arrive around 1pm at MCO. So I guess I will be the last of the group to leave!

Just called the airlines and changed our flight so we could be last of the group to leave. (just kidding). We are leaving 9:30p.m. on the 15th arriving at MCO at 11:45 P.M. Then we rush to get our car from Budget and head over to the hotel at Cape Canaveral to get a few ZZZZ's. This is all depending on what the flight attendants at Northwest do. Hopefully there won't be a strike until at least our return date Oct. 3. I won't mind being stranded in Florida! That's almost as good as missing the boat on Friday at Castaway Cay. :)

Consider it done! I very much believe in the power of prayer. My DD has had medical problems, and we had a huge group praying for her. Even her Neurologist said that she is absolute miracle. He did not know that we had everyone praying, and he told me that if I did not believe in God, I had better start because there was no medical explanation for how well my DD did in surgery. She was supposed to be in Neurological ICU for up to 3 weeks and in the hospital for up to a month and half. She only spent one night in the ICU. She was home in less than two weeks. So God answers prayers and miracles do happen. We will pray for Alan and the entire family.

Isn't it great to have such a great God!!!! I don't know what people do without Him.

Joanne, that is our plan too. We are going to take her out of school as long as it is reasonable, knowing that when she hits the higher grades, we will try to move vacations to when she is out of school.

But even so, I am nervous about telling her teacher about this year. Kelsey is going to miss 6 days of school. Last year, she overheard Kelsey talking about getting ready to go on a Disney cruise (last Sept), and she asked me about it. She seemed happy for us that we were going, but then again, she only missed 2 days of school, because they have some kind of Christian school conferences for 3 days every Sept, and we lucked up and picked the right week. We tried to do that again this year, but we REALLY wanted to do the double dip, so she is missing the whole week, plus the Friday before. But she is a very good student, and I'm going to request her extra work next week, and hopefully we can get alot done before we go, 'cause we ain't doin' homework on the cruise!

My kids go to a christian school also and we have only had a problem one time and that was with a principle that they only let stay around for a year and then they decided he was not what the school wanted. But they usually hold the family first, it just really kicks our butts to get the work done. My kids teachers already know becouse school started for us already and none of them have said anything but they are use to us doing this. We have taken the kids out for as much as 18 days in one year to go to disney, and they still do great, We just got back last years sat's and ds was fifth grade was in 9th grade with most things dd was second grade was in 6th grade with most and ds was in first was in third grade for most things. So it hasn't hurt them.

The way I look at it most kids don't have parents that do anything with them and when you find a parent or parents that take time for their kids you more than likely have a parent that is also interested in their kids education and will stay on top of it. It may not be the most genius theory but it is mine...

Hi everyone, I am not on your cruise but was wondering if someone could do me a huge favor. We are booked on the Dec 9 double dip and haven't yet told our sons. I would like to surprise them on their bdays with cruise shirts and see if they figure it out. So, I'm looking for someone who would be willing to buy me t-shirts in the "She Sells" shop on Castaway Cay. They will have "twice the magic" shirts on the Friday of your cruise at CC.

Please PM me if you will be able to help out. Thanks!

I hear you Amy. I feel exactly the same way. Maybe it's because we only have one child, or maybe we would be involved parents even if we had more (I'd like to think so!).

DH lives and works in D.C., he is a mobilized reservist. So he is gone more than he is home with us. We have to make the most of the time we are together, because we want Kelsey to have good memories of this time in her life, instead of remembering it as "when Daddy didn't live with us."

Now that's and idea. Why don't we plan a Dis meet on Castaway Cay for about thirty minutes AFTER the Magic leaves the island?

Tell your husband that I sincerely thank him for what he is doing for our country. People don't realize the sacrific that the men and women (and their families) make to serve our country and make us safe. I'm one of the very few in America who does not have anyone in my family in active service right now. I have some cousins who have served before, but they all home now. They should give you guys free Disney vacations.

Do any of the staff stay on the island? I had read somewhere about how bad the bugs are on the island in the evening. I would think that they would have to leave someone on there over night to clean up the island and get it ready for the next group of cruisers. Besides, I would think that there would be security conserns. Can you imagine sailing around out in the ocean and running up on Castaway Cay on a day when no ship is docked and going ashore and having that Island all to yourself?

Gail sign me up. I could live on CC forever as long as they leave the konk koolers running.

My dh was in the airforce for 25 years. He was also gone a lot. I think we are a closer family because we did a lot of family time when he was home. On eyear we did Christmas in October because he was going to Saudi for 6 months. The kids had a ball. We put up a small fake tree played Christmas music did presents and everything. Then when Christmas came we went home to see family.

I hope every one has a great Sunday. I fell asleep in the pool yesterday so my back is a little pink today. Darn those new swim suits.

Top of the page for me!!!!! Have a great day!!!!!!!

Actually, we often get free admission tickets into WDW and Seaworld. They have "Military Appreciation Days" at different times of the year. We've taken advantage of this several times. Now, if they would only give us "Military Appreciation" Cruises!!!

But seriously, thanks for your kind words. Let's be honest, we have it better than most military families. There are alot of kids out there that do no see their military parent but once or twice a year, and sometimes the parent never comes back. I remember that when I start to feel sorry for myself.

Joanne, I think we are doing Christmas a few days before Christmas this year too. For the first time, DH won't be here for Christmas, he'll be in DC. He works at the Pentagon, and his shift is 7am to 7pm. He wanted us to come up there for Christmas Day, but I figured, since he would not be there when DD woke up on Christmas Day, and then would be gone all day until that night, we would be better off staying home, where we could spend the day with other family. So we will celebrate a few days before, up in DC, when he has days off, and we can check out the Christmas decorations around DC. But it will be hard. My DD is very sentimental, and I know she will be sad that her daddy is not with her on Christmas Day.

It is so great that you guys found a way to celebrate. It makes me feel a little silly. We are going to be at WDW for Christmas Day this year, and I've been complaining about trying to figure out how to do Christmas with the family members who are not going.

It's great that they do this to recognize our military. As for the cruise, start a petition and I'll sign it.
