Hi all
been too busy recently to post much but I thought i'd check in with you all to see how everyone was. Just over 5 months to go i'd better get into planning mode :cool1:

We had beautiful spring weather all morning, mid 60's and sunny. Then out of nowhere a freak rainstorm, typical northwest. It was raining buckets. I felt sorry for everyone walking around in tank tops and flip flops. I swear the weather here is a woman, very moody! :teeth:

I am thining of booking this cruise. It is our first! Tell me why I should!!! AND where should we stay? We are 4 (very tall DAD), Mom, and two kids. One is already 5'4".

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

As for a first cruise I can tell you this one will spoil you alot! Castaway Cay is the best cruise stop ever. Disney's island is paradise. Other Disney cruises only stop once however this cruise will be stopping twice, hence why this cruise will spoil you. But I personlly think it's worth it. We have only ever done 2 four day cruises so I can't really give you too much information regarding the 7 day cruise, but I know in my heart of hearts that they are better because they are longer.

Now as for where to stay I think that should be :Pinkbounc bumped :Pinkbounc for a fellow cruiser, "we" has only ever been myself and my husband, he's only 6'1". Hope this helps.

Because we're more fun than any of the other cruisers :thumbsup2

Actually, we've been on the 3, 4 & 7 day cruises and the 7 day (especially for the 1st timers) allows you to see and take advantage of a lot more of what DCL has to offer.

  • The 7 day cruise has items that aren't offered on the shorter cruises - tea, multiple sea days, character breakfast, etc.
  • The shorter cruises only stop in Nassau while the 7 day offeres more and different ports
  • Castaway Cay twice. We were booked on the previous week's Western and changed our plans to miss our anniversary on board just for this perk
  • Did I mention that we're more fun than any other group?
:rotfl:

There are really no differences in the bed sizes in the different categories of cabins. In the rooms that sleep 4, there is a queen bed, a couch that converts to a single bed, and a "bunk" bed that pulls down above the couch. We've booked 2 cat 9 (oceanview) rooms for the 5 of us on this trip but have stayed in categories 9, 3, 4 & 7 on other cruises.

Just checking in!

When can we book Palo? Im a CC member if that helps.

Still working on my MIL issue. Hopefully they'll offer a military rate for this cruise.

Right now we have early seating. We may switch to late. Last time we had late and we were still rushing to get to dinner.

Welcome to our new cruisers!! We had a great time last year on the 4 day, and we are really looking forward to September!

CC Members can book 90 days out, concierge is 105 days and everyone else is 75 days

WOW - lots of action this week! :-) I lost my updates so I have been out of pocket. How is everyone?
Merry

Ugh, I am so done with the cold weather! I wanna' be on a beach. :sunny: DD wants to go shopping for a dress for formal night, I told her that September is still a ways off. Might not want to commit to something so soon. Are any of you looking at doing the Mediteranian cruises? Way too pricey for us, but it would be nice to know someone who's going. :grouphug: The trading pins and merchandise are going to be amazing, I am sure. Our local mall's management failed to renew the lease with our Disney Store, now we have to drive two hours north to get to the closest one. I haven't seen Disney merchandise for a few months, I think I am having Disney withdrawal. I need a little love from the Mouse. :mickeyjum Cindy, we're getting the alcohol carry-on stuff worked out over here, it's gonna take some interesting planning to pull off all the concoctions I'm wanting to make :stir: Maybe we should just stick with rum & coke :drinking1 Oh, and the champagne, hard to start a day off on vacation without a mimosa pirate: Ugh this cold rainy weather is really depressing. :guilty:

Feefee,

You should do it. This will be our fourth 7 night. Third on Disney one on RCCL. Our first 7 night was in 2002 and it was just the four of us. Me & hubby and my two boys. Who were 16 & 13 at the time. The 16 year old is 6 feet tall. We were on deck 1 with an ocean view. It was fine. We just had very large shoes all over the room. But you are never in your room. It was the best family vaction ever. The kids had a blast. I was so sad when it was over. We had great famliy time and they had so much fun. They met new friends a few they still keep in touch with. They pretty much stayed with the teen club kids except for excursions and dinner and a few shows. There was no arguing over what to do and when and where to eat. They could do what ever they want. We also made friends we still keep in touch with too.

How old are your kids? You will not regret it. Seeing them dressed up for dinner was fun. we actually had great conversations at dinner before they rushed off to what ever was going on for their age group that night. Or just hanging out on deck 10.

Merry,

Did you see our snuba picture? That was so much fun. I love the water.

Have a good friday.........

We love cruising- the whole family, well we don't know about the little one this will be her first time. But no one wanted to cruise in our family except me- the only way I could twist their arms was to go on Disney. We loved it- even our oldest daughter who didn't want to be out of sight of land.

The ship is beautiful. The food is nice. There's lots to do or you could do nothing. We always had great service- especially our dining room staff! Wow- both times they were excellent. :thumbsup2 Our waiter from our first cruise remembered our kids over a year later. When we came in the first night he saw them and came running over calling their names. They were so happy. His name is Sunny- BTW- and the kids still talk about him.

I would love to cruise Disney every year, but with as a family of soon to be (hopefully) six- Disney will be out of our price range except for special occassions.

How old are your kids? We have a dd (12 for the cruise) ds (8) and dd (will be 2).

Hi cruisin' friends!!

I am going "cruise crazy"!! :cheer2:

After a year of waiting since our 14day Panama repo cruise, we are finally booked to repo the Magic to the Med!!

I cannot wait for 8 glorious sea days to enjoy the Magic, and I have always wanted to visit the Canary Islands and Gibraltar. :woohoo:

My DH is happy that I can finally start focusing on this wonderful Double Dip cruise, now that our cabin is confirmed for the repo. We are looking forward to our first "solo" cruise to celebrate 15 fabulous years. We are going to visit Serenity Bay for the first time!! :earsboy: :earsgirl:

So where are we at? Do we have anyone coordinating a list of DISers? Cabin numbers for a "tag" game? DIS meets onboard? TShirts? Lanyards? I am ready to jump right in and help out. I just need to catch up on what everyone else may already be working on. :goodvibes

I am looking forward to making a whole ship full of new DIS friends. :grouphug:

Karen :Pinkbounc

I am curious who has the list of cruisers for the game of tag as well. Our last cruise we played and the tage ended up in back with the person who started the game, which I thought was perfect. Also someone was starting a photo yearbook of sorts, whatever happened to that?

I have been cheating on you all I'm sorry! :teeth:

DH and I are going on a Princess cruise to celebrate our in-laws 40th with a lot of our other family member, over 40 families, in June. I got a call yesterday from Princess that we got an upgrade on our cabin. That's the good news. Intead of having the 138 sf cabin we have the 145 sf cabin. I hate to be negative but I really will miss the Magic and the Wonder during that week. Here's the bad news but they thought it was good, since we don't have children we have put on the same floor as the Casino. But we will grin and bare it because this is the cruise that my in-laws wanted and we have always wanted to go to Alaska. So that will be great! Has anyone ever cruised with Princess before? What's it like?

We are cheaters, too!!

We just took a short 4 day Carnival to Mexico for a "family reunion" with parents, in-laws, etc. ... fine but definitely NOT the Magic.

AND ... we were supposed to be surprising DH (but now he knows) with a NCL 3 day repo from LA to Vancouver as his Father Day / birthday trip (we go on a long weekend trip each year to celebrate both). We got an incredible price and we have never been to Astoria or Vancouver. I am sure it will NOT be the Magic ... but it will give us 3.5 days of uninterrupted family cruise time, which is what we are looking forward to (since the kids will not be with us for the Double Dip).

Has anyone else tried different lines? What did/do you think?

Karen :cheer2:

WE did RCCL last summer, because it is so much cheaper inthe high dollar season. It was great. It wasn't the magic but we still had a great time. For the differnce in price it was well worth it. We had a balcony room for less than an inside room in the magic. We were a group of 12 so it was much cheaper. The food was better on disney & I missed the fresh water pool. But the Marriner is beautiful. The teen agers liked it better than Disney. They had more to do. But Laberdee leaves alot to be desired. Castaway Cay is a million times better.

Dh and I did RCCL Sovereign for a 4 day without kids. It was nice for what we paid. Dh made me promise NOT to compare it to the Magic, because I was looking over to the empty DCL terminal when we first got on the ship. But he was the one who spent 4 days doing it.

We also didn't go to Labradee, but to the RCCL island- Coco Cay. It was nice, not as nice as Castaway Cay, and you had to tender in. Also, they had a lot more people selling merchandise.

We'll definitely cruise one of the newer/bigger RCCL ships, because of the price difference. Our two big kids are actually willing to do this, and I was shocked!

I'd like to hear how Norwegian and Holland America are. I would even be willing to try a new Carnival ship. Some of their itineraries look really good.

Good morning all,

I hope every one has a great Sunday. It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here. :cool1:

We have just had a hail shower here....5 months cant come quick enough for me.

Good Morning Tiggery, or should I say good afternoon. Sorry your weather is yucky? Where in England do you live? We lived in Germany for four years. We had friends at Mildenhal(sp) so we played tourist arround there. I love all the history in Europe.
