The IPod I had mentioned was an Apple. Do I have to buy the music from IPod? I can download music for free (sorry Thea!) so I have tons of mp3's in my hard drive. Will the IPod store those?

Free movies and free music downloads? O.K. Canada's looking better and better :thumbsup2

Oh Canada...Oh Canada {sing wit' me now...}

Remember when I said Mekayla wants something Canadian? Well now I now what she wants...she wants free movie downloads and free music downloads! :lmao: :rotfl2: :banana:

I have a Nano Zen, in pink my favorite color. Let me just add that pink was my favorite color back before Steel Magnolias came out. So Pink really is my signature color! :teeth:

I like pink (I just re-read my previous "pink post") I just don't like to see Princess Aurora in a pink dress. Had to clarify (and get in one more post) :Pinkbounc

DD is will be 9 in Nov. and she is getting one for Christmas. Almost all of the children in her class already have them, cell phones also. I broke down and got her a cell phone when school went out last year to reward her for her good grades. I think kids just grow up too fast, or at least faster than we did. I remember getting my first walkman and thinking I was hot. It played cassette tapes. My DD doesn't even know what a cassette tape is. I can't wait to see what her child will ask for when it gets in 3rd grade.

Mekayla is 9, she'll be 10 in November. I leave her alone for spurts to go to the store and what not. I think the longest she has ever been home alone was 30 minutes. Of course, that was with me locking the door behind me on the way out and running up to the store and back. This little after school thing is going to require her to dilligently lock the door on her own. I am sure she'll be fine, I'll be the crazy one! :crazy: She's had a cell phone for over a year. I didn't like the daycare I had her in so I got her a cell phone so she could call me. They got bent out of shape when I called their land line to check on her (which I understand) but with all the half days they were the only ones around that picked the kids up in the middle of the day (there's at least one half day of school a month here) and I only get a half an hour for lunch so running around being her taxi is not an option in the daytime. Anyway, she's had the cell for some time...it's just a t-mobile pay as you go phone...and we've finally gotten $100.00 worth of minutes paid up on it, so now the minutes don't expire for a year! Gail, you might want to look into those, it works well. The phone was $30.00 at walmart, and I just kept buying $10.00 and $25.00 minute cards and they'd be good for a month or two. Mekayla doesn't know her cell phone number :rotfl: so she never gave it out to friends, it's only so I can call her and she can call me. I programmed my cell and work numbers into her phone, so with a press of a button, boom ~ she's got me. We were talking about getting the Disney Mobile family phones BOGO when my Verizon contract period expires!

Well guys, I typed the letter for DD's school requesting the Educational Enchancement Days to excuse DD's absences, and took it to the Principal today when I picked her up. As promised, the request was granted. They said that she would have to stand and give an oral report of what she did on the cruise for the class and will have one week to make up all missed work. Her teacher has promised to give us all the busy work that she will miss on Thurs, Sept 14th, which is the last day she will be in school before we leave for Florida. We are going to work on it Thurs night and during the trip down and back. I am so glad that the school has cooperated so well with us on this.

I will not get to post much tonight. DD has a game to cheer at and then a spelling test to study for. You guys see how many pages of posts you can make me catch up on tomorrow.

Again ~ no flames from anyone... I am not trying to be stupid... but why would you need her absences excused? She's in third grade? Does the elementary school have that strict a policy that the absences have to be excused in the third grade? My son's second biggest reason for not wanting to come along on the cruise is school. He's in college prep classes (he'll be 16 on September 14th) and a day or two really makes a difference in high school ~ not to mention a week! And number one reason is he hates all things Disney {Must be his Dad in him ~ That I don't get at all} anyway, Zack bailed on the cruise but when I go on vacation I call the school and say, "Mekayla won't be back until September 25th" and they say "o.k." I hate starting the year like that but that's when I get vacation time, and in the beginning of the year it's not hard to make up homework. How much classwork does your 9 year old have? If Mekayla had to stand up and do a "presentation" I think she would die on the spot of embarrassment! She's still learning cursive writing for goodness sakes! :artist: Elementary school isn't part of our School District's "permanent records" her first college pick isn't going to turn her down 'cause she missed a week or two in the fourth grade! What's with all the hoop jumping? I'm curiouis. :confused3

Oh wait, that's what I want from Canada...she's still into totem poles! :rotfl:

O.K. I have gone "crack happy" on the DIS boards...

I am going to try to have a whole page all my own...

I have the LG8100 phone from Verizon...supposedly it plays music. There's a sandisk slot and I have a 1mb card in there but I mostly use that for pictures! Mekayla thinks taking pictures with my cell phone is all the rage (Seashells ~ there are pictures of the tattoo guy doing my face on my phone... I'll show ya' at MNSSHP!) :rotfl: Anyways, I called the local Verizon store and they said I could come in and upload the software (I bought the phone off ebay when it was brand new) and then get their usb cable and music package and my phone will act as a portable mp3 player. We'll see...it seems too good to be true. But heck that would save me $180.00!!!! So I am going to check it out tonight after all the other stuff we have to do. I'll let you guys know how that turns out! {yeah like you're dying to know}

Back to cruise topic stuff

Is anyone doing the Dolphin Encounter in Cozumel and who's doing the entertainment seminars? Also Martini, Margarita, wine and beer tasting is on the agenda for us... anyone else?

I like that they come out in Purple ~ that might be a way to go too. I really like purple ~ heck that's a selling point right there! :Pinkbounc

A few more posts and then I'll quit for a while ~ I just read that DCL is planning on updating their beddig and bathroom goodies! Nice new bedding would be good, not to mention better shampoo...that minnie stuff is scary! Cute packaging, but crappy shampoo! :cool1:

Check this Out: http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=1770

packing your own snorkel gear, or renting? We have fins and all but it's cumbersome to pack and after looking at my piles, something's gotta' give. :sad2:

There's a thread asking where the ships went due to Ernesto...apparently the 7 night Magic guests were given the option to cancel their cruise because it changed from a 'Western" to an "Eastern" could you imagine? I would laugh in the face of the CM who suggested I cancel because we aren't going to where I thought we were going (yes, even if we didn't get to go to Castaway Cay) but I would pout and stomp around a bit if we didn't get to go to Castaway Cay :beach: No one's doing a "live" thread on the Magic right now, so we'll have to wait until they get back to see where they ended up going. That kinda' sucks... I like live threads. :3dglasses

When you're at WDW you can have stuff you buy mailed from the resorts (for a fee) does anyone know if you can have DCL mail stuff you buy in Treasure Ketch? I don't want to figure out how to pack souvies...we're at max. capacity as it is just going down there.

When you buy alcohol in Mexico can you open it onboard and drink it or does it have to stay sealed for customs? I remember reading something about alcohol on our last cruise that made me not buy any and now that you can't carry it home on you in carry on it really seems pointless to buy alcohol unless it's something we can open and drink onboard. Anyone know? :confused3

O.K. how about this then? When does the maddness end?

That was my last top for a while, my poor fingers have to recover! :rotfl: That was enough dumb topic stuff to keep you all busy for a while! F.D.P. Amanda will be so proud when she see's I am page 237 BBBWWWAAAHHHAAAAHHHHAAAAA {Jafar Laughter}

I think if you open the alcohol, you have to drink it all. If the seal is broken you can't bring it through customs. If you need help finishing up your open bottles, call me. I think I'm in 6552. You'll know it by the cruddy door signs.

So no one ever answered-- what was all the talk about Alaska a few nights back?

In our school district, any child with 7 unexcused absences is charge with truancy and has to appear in Family Court. The child gets probation and has to report periodically to the Court to show following orders of the Court and the parent gets a nice little fine. A lot of school districts have this rule. There is a thread on this board where families post the letters they have sumbitted in the past.
