I just read the upgrade thread on the main cruise forum.
The guy is going on the September 8 Magic cruise. He said that he got his room assignment last week. So all of you GTY cruisers.........I assume that means you should be able to get your room assignment this week. I know that one of you (sorry I can't remember which DISer posted it now) said the DCL rep said the beginning of September. However, since his cruise is only a week before our cruise maybe it will be sooner than that.

Yeah, I read somewhere that even if you booked a specific cabin, an upgrade is not out of the question.

If DCL wants to bump me from my 2 cat 8 connecting cabins, to a couple of suites, well that's just fine with me! :rotfl:

~twirling~

I just had to tell someone other than my DH - who's heard it - I finally found a dress for formal night! Finding a pooh-sized formal dress in late August (in Florida) is a close to impossible task, but I did it. And, it's beautiful. I'm very happy with it.

We're actually going to the Pirate/Princess party this weekend. Do you think it'd be too much if I wore it? :rotfl:

My favorite Disney tee has a sparkly glass slipper on it and it says, "Where the glass slipper always fits". I need to get my pic taken with Cinderella this weekend while wearing it. princess:

Anyways, good morning again and we're definitely on the final countdown now!

Julie

Congrats on finding your dress Julie!:thumbsup2 I know what you mean, finding a dress that fits a very short large on top woman is a hard task too! LOL!!! :rotfl2:

I know my aunt is waiting on her room assignment, I hope she gets an upgrade!!!;)

In regards to upgrades - We've had our room assignment since booking the cruise almost 1 year ago. We booked through Dreams Unlimited and almost immediately were assigned #2068.

This has never changed. We were hoping for an upgrade, but figure since we're apparently "set in stone", there's no chance of that.

On our last cruise we had resv'd a Cat 12 and were upgraded to a room with a giant porthole (which we were thrilled with). This time we resv'd the giant porthole hoping for a veranda.

Anyways, back to topic (sorry... you'll all soon learn that you need to push me back on topic. Usually a hit on the back of my head will make me skip ahead). If we don't get pixie dusted and get an upgrade, how difficult is it to upgrade once at port and is the cost discounted or do they sock it to you?

Congrats on finding the formal dress RetroJulie! I still have to do that... so much to do, so little time. dd 4 1/2 went back to school this week (3 days/wk) so I THOUGHT I would have all this time to actually get things done. Ha! Here I am: :coffee: dh informs me we are going to buy a booster seat for dd tonight, so I need to quickly research decent ones that we can take on a plane too/don't cost an arm and a leg/aren't huge. She really is getting too tall for the car seat we have now.

Do any past cruisers know if the sockets in the room are 3 prong? I found a 3 socket nightlight at Walmart for $1.48, and thought it would be perfect to plug extra stuff in on the cruise, and it has the 3 prongs to plug in, just wondering.

I'm thinking that they are 3 prong, because we have taken a power strip before, and I'm sure it had a 3 prong plug on it.

It's amazing to me that there are only 2 plugs for the entire cabin. And no regular outlets in the bathrooms! Maybe they will correct this on the new ships!

Yeah, you are right, the power strips are 3 prong- then for anyone that needs them, go to Walmart, they were over by the hardware stuff, 3 sockets and a nightlight, I got 2 . In a big bin in the middle of the walkway, and I've seen them at two different Walmarts.:goodvibes This weekend I will be getting all of my paperwork together(OCD in full effect), copies of everything, preparing to pack fully on Labor Day weekend. We are leaving Sept 9th for WDW, but with my DD's bday party is Sat 8th, and our church having a huge festival Sat 8th, I won't be able to pack that Saturday. I'm ready!!! Also, I'm going on a scrapbook cruise in November:woohoo: , and been dealing with that as well. :goodvibes

The UPS man just came and I got so excited - thought they were our cruise doc's ............... unfortunately just my new Cutco kitchen scissors. :sad1:

KANE3091 & Orlando Disney Guy: :welcome: So great to see more DISers joining us! Feel free to chat away. We are a friendly group. I just wish I was able to check in here more often than I have been. Darn work gets in the way!

kamgen: Congratulations on your weight loss! You seem to be doing a great job at keeping up with it. I'm sure you'll reach your goal soon :goodvibes

RetroJulie: DBF and I are in room 2082, not far down from you! We've also had our room number since we booked back in June 2006. Man that seems so long ago!

Last year we inquired about an upgrade. We were sent to the Cast member on the far right of the check in area. I would have been no problem to upgrade(there was availability). We were told that to upgrade from a Cat 8 to a Cat6 it was $400.00. We elected to remain where we were.

See my previous submission.

Jennifer48 - Hi Neighbor! :wave2: ~pulling on my Mr.Rogers cardigan~

NikkiSteveJ - have you ever been on a scrapbook cruise before? If so, how was it? Me and a pal are thinking about taking one.

Well we decided to bite the bullet and get AP's for my husband, daughter and myself when we go down the day before our cruise. We will be able to use them the day before the cruise (we fly in at 930) and the day we get back as we have 6-7 hours of free time. We are going to be going in May with a few friends as well for a 9 day trip and were going to hold off till then but we decided to just do it now (would have been bummed had we not gone to a park that whole day before).

So not sure if others will be down the day before - but we plan on going to MK for the day (we aren't doing the MNSSHP) but will be there most of the day. We also got ressies for a late lunch at Crystal Palace (was surprised they had anything with the free dining, etc.).

No, my first one. My local scrapbook store is sponsoring it, it is a 5 day to Bermuda from Baltimore- where I live(15 min from port) Royal Caribbean. My DS and I are going, no DH's or kids!!! So excited, I am going to scrapbook- of course Disney!! It wasn't expensive at all, plus no airfare!! They have about 200 scrapbookers and their families on board. There will be conference rooms set up, so you can leave your stuff, but locked, I think you will use your room key. It will be very different than my disney cruise!!:dance3:

We are actually leaving on Sept 12th, (Wed before the cruise) and are going to the parks Thursday and Friday.

Remember they have the Little Ones extra Magic Hour at MK that day, 8:00am Fantasyland will be open, supposedly 5 and under kids, but anyone can go. Characters will be there to play w/kids, ride rides w/them, no posing or autographs, but fun for the kids. I saw some pics on the theme parks board from last year, really nice ones of the kids and characters playing ring around the rosey(SP?), and lots of others. I think we're going to go. We are doing MNSSHP, but we figured we'll go to MK early, stay until about 10-11am, go back to resort, then go to MNSSHP around 5:00pm.:goodvibes
