Dianna, I do believe I can be enticed to do the stair climb. Are you both already on a team or climbing as individuals?

Celeste is climbing as an individual this year. So far she has raised $1300. :Pinkbounc I haven't registered yet because I'm not climbing until next year. The team concept sounds interesting, but I'm so much older than you and Celeste I'm not sure I could keep up. :faint: :lmao:

It would be so cool if you could/would join us! I would love it. I've travelled all over and never been to Chicago. Not even through the airport.

Anyone else wanna step forward and volunteer some responses?

And may I suggest a get to kno game? Something to pass the week away ....

Here's how it works... simple really.... how would you respond to the following EIGHT random questions? Answer as extensively or lightly as you wish. Maybe some of us have more of interest in common then we realize?

Rotating_Question.gif

1) Favorite music/performer?
2) Favorite dish?
3) Any Pets?
4) Any hobbies? Or how about substituting your greatest casual interests?
5) Any rants?
6) A surprising thing you've encountered, seen or experienced?
7) What region or city did you grow up in?
8) What are you "NOT"?

And I shall kick it off with my responses to the above...

1) Jazz vocalists and otherwise I enjoy a wide range (except rap for one), and I still enjoy music from the 80s/ Al Jarreau, George Benson, Keal'i Reichel (Hawaiian Folk), Sara Brightman, Stevie Wonder, and lots more!
2) Favorite dish for me is gonna have to be Alaskan King Crab with Prime rib. Really it's TWO favorite items! I also enjoy most desserts without whole nuts. I dislike having the nuts lodge in my teeth.
3) We have a huge Samoyed DOG... and we've had Samoyeds for 20 of the past 22 years.
4) Digital Photography and related diversions, and exploring the web. And I'll volunteer my casual secondary interests... things regarding aviation, financial/investing pursuits, astronomy, and computer strategy games. I'm also a science fiction fan of sorts. In particular I enjoy things relating to Star Trek and Star Wars, plus divergent imaginative varients that are not twisted or too extreme... if you kno what I mean.
5) I would have to say two things ... I have do not like mean people or wreckless drivers. Now - some might say that was an easy choice but it is true for my point of view.
6) I've seen a car race past me and lose control about 30 yards ahead of me (not my falut) and cross the center line and hit another car head on. Tragic and thought provoking. PLUS I'll add that I've seen a car flip end over end about 75 yards ahead of me while it was in a transition ramp - no obvious reason why it flipped but it was another sobering observation.
7) I've always lived in Southern California and grew up primarily in a couple of different cities as my parents had two primary homes ... Malibu (beach community) and Monterey Park (6 miles east of Downtown LA). One home was near the family business and the other was a kind of mid week escape home. We split our time betweenthe two pretty evenly.
8) This one might have been confusing to some... but as a truthful example... I am NOT a Football or sports fan. Some assume all guys like sports of some kind. I only watch the playoffs - and then only if someone tells me the games are on! And I'll volunteer that I (we) don't watch any TV regularly... as in sitcoms or any series.

AND I'll post my spouses' replies when I can corner her for candid answers... :confused3

I will try and give this a shot...

Music/performer...I grew up dancing...18 years worth. So I simply love music.
Love Broadway music, Disney music! Have trouble with the
music that my kids are choosing to listen to.
Favorite dish...Filet Mignon and/or Chili's chips and salsa!!! As to sweet, we
have a local bakery that has the most wonderful cake and
thumbprint cookies.
Pets...We currently have a wonderful yellow labrador retriever named Liberty
Grace. She is 84 pounds of pure love and acceptance! She is able to
open anything!!! Which is why she is on diet doggie food! We would
lock her food in a container, then put duct tape over the lid, then cross the tape. Finally we had to put an alarm on the closet door that we keep it in!!! She can even open sliding doors! She makes us laugh.
Interests...my kids and their chaos!!! Painting. Ballroom dance. Reading. Notre Dame! All things Disney!!!
Rants...people that cheat...people that are two faced!

Will have to narrow down the amazing things I've seen.
I grew up here in central Illinois, with annual trips to Disney. My parents thought I should have been born in Florida!

Okay, okay...here goes.

1) Favorite music/performer?
I love pretty much anything but rap and R&B. I love Sarah McLachlan, the Dixie Chicks, Evanescence, Nickelback, Lifehouse, Avril Lavigne, Carbonleaf, Edwin McCain...and too many others to mention

2) Favorite dish?
Pasta. I love me some Italian food. I'm a carboholic.

3) Any Pets?
Nope. I think we might eventually get a dog, but none right now.

4) Any hobbies? Or how about substituting your greatest casual interests?
I love to read. I'm such a book nerd. Reading, writing, watching movies, painting, hanging out with family and friends...that kind of thing.

5) Any rants?
According to my best friend, there is a special hell for people who do not fill out all the blanks on their insurance forms. I personally have a problem with people who have children and don't seem to want them. That gets under my skin. Children are a gift!

6) A surprising thing you've encountered, seen or experienced?

Patrick proposing was pretty darn surprising. Right now that about tops the list.

7) What region or city did you grow up in?
Up until June I lived my entire life in Fairfax County, Virginia.

8) What are you "NOT"?
a tree, a man, the Queen of England... Seriously, I really don't know how to answer that. There are many things I am not.

Hey everyone! Seems like so long since I have posted.....and I noticed there is a new thread for our sail date...so do I still post here, or are we shifting over there??? :confused3

How is everyone?? We are doing alright...still trying to get used to things up here and still trying to sell our house in NC. Times are stressful, but looking forward to the cruise helps....oh, and the fact that I am 31 weeks pregnant keeps me busy too! LOL!! :rotfl:

Hope all is well with everyone!

Kamy! I was wondering where you had disappeared to. Can you PM me with your email address so I can send you the pictures of ya'll from the Boardwalk! I wish you were down here!

The other thread was started by me before I saw this one! I think everyone has since moved over here.

Glad to have you back and congats on the pregnancy. My little one just turned 1 in Aug.

This is only our 2nd cruise ever. We did the Western cruise on DCL last year. We have been too busy doing WDW and snow skiing. My knees are going out so skiing is getting less and less for me. That is why we decided to do a cruise. Now we are hooked.

That's great! (IE, the cruising and Skiing) My spouse used to be on the High School Ski team back in PA. and her favvorite event was Giant Slamon (misspelled, I'm sure). And - of course... she skis rings around me. She's a size zero petite ex-gymnist - so she is strong with a low center of gravity and really LONG skis. 22 years ago her skis were longer then mine! And - do we ski much anymore? Not too much unfortunately. I am not so keen for two major reasons .... 1st) I'm afraid of getting hurt... (LOL) and 2nd) related to #1 ... I am shy about being humikiated on the slopes again by my expert skiing spouse. OK... that was semi-ad lib and semi-true.

At any rate ... here's a little something to encourage a little good natured chuckling!

Where do you live now?

On one of our other cruises, someone who had posted on page one began editing her original post to include the activities of the DIS group and list of Thread members. Whenever anyone new came on the thread we could refer them to the MASTER LIST on page one. When we wanted to find out something or on the last day at home to print out a list to bring on board, we could go to her post and get it all.

Anyone on page one want to start doing that?

I'm not much for contests. I like everyone to win! No pirate contest as far as I know. Everything is at the seamstress now. pirate:

There is a scrapbook thing planned. I do scrap but the time is too close to the wine tasting that I am co hosting, so unfortunately I'll miss that one. :sad2:

Now there is talk of a mickey bar eating contest. who can eat a mickey bar the fastest. We'll definately skip that one. :mickeybar

Also talk of a "secret Mickey" gift exchange. I'm in for that. :thumbsup2

My DH is begining to wonder when we will relax. I'll skip some things and I have purposely not linked our dining. :goodvibes

We have scheduled three straight days of scuba diving. :fish:

Lamar is all set for the Grass Skirt Fraterinty

Fish extender will be finished this weekend. I'll post you all a picture.
So as you can tell we are in high gear planning mode.

The quote is from page 4, back in July--did you post the picture? I am so curious!!!
Did you post a trip report from the 11 day cruise? Any pictures besides the pirate picture on post 107 of this thread? FANCY COSTUMES!! Where did you find those hats?

Hi all!

We are definite DCL lovers! We will be sailing with y'all! Captn. Crash, were you on the Christmas 2005 cruise???? We were, and I think I have seen you posts there or on the DCL Pics page. Anyway, we are Tomspixie...I am Tif and DH is Tom. Imagine that! We do have three great kids who love Disney cruising as well. They however will all be in school, as their dad and I take a week every year for just each other! We will be doing the Med at the end of July, and so have pushed our private cruise back a couple of weeks.
I have noticed several Illinois families on this thread. We are in Peoria, but do have a second home in Windermere, FL...12 minutes from the parking lot at the Grand Floridian Spa!!! WOOHOO!!!

Well, thought I would give a quick intro. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Tif--I think his family looks familiar from the family photos where he was hanging one DD over the edge of the fake railing in the professional portraits from the ship. He posted them on the DCL PICTURE OF THE DAY Thread. You posted the picture of Roy Disney during the GOLDEN MICKEYS and we used that picture to encourage DCL to put Roy back in the show!! And they did. When we were on the cruise Sept 3-7 with our kids we SAW HIM!!

Here is a picture of the completed fish extender and one of it hanging on a fish on a 3 day cruise I took in July before it was finished.

Here is a picture of some of the items that were gifted to us on the 11 day cruise. I say some of them because many of the items were edible or used up over the 11 day trip :goodvibes

I did not do a trip report. I spent so much time relaxing in our stateroom I didn't think I would have much to add to what others had reported. I will say the wine tasting was a great way to meet everyone at the begining of the cruise and I was very glad to have co- hosted that event with a couple of other Dis folks and fortunate enough to have linked up with the adjoining suite so we had plenty of room for the seventy people that attended.

Secret Mickey was one of my favorite things. It was simple and soo much fun. You didn't need a fish extender to play and it was fun to surprise someone and be surprised. We were able to meet our Secret Mickey at the Secret Mickey reveal at the end of the cruise. :joker:

Hi Jan!

You are so right about the photo of Captain Crash. I do remember that. We sailed as a family at the end of July and no Roy. My understanding is that Roy returned on the sailing after we got off. Tom and I sailed sans children September 2, and Roy was there!!! We definitely enjoyed The Golden Mickeys!
For our July cruise we had a gal that would add everybody to the front page, plus room numbers-if they wanted them posted, ages-again only if wanted...kids and adults. The September cruise, someone did something similar and then added a photo link. WLTDSNYFN is who did the July thing, and MONSTRO did the September. I am the weak link when it comes to ANYTHING computers...so, if someone wanted to do it, either of these individuals would be good references!

Thanks for the fish extender photos. Did any of them come up missing during the cruise? We have heard of door decorations that are moved or stolen.
Thanks for the info on the hats. Did you make the rest of the costumes?
What are the two identical items in the picture on the far right?
Happy weekend to all,
