KellyJean, we've always sailed w/a veranda too, but for this cruise I figured it was short, so it wouldn't get too bad. As you said, there'll be lots to do with lots of great people, plus the 2 stops at CC. And we're also on deck 2, so we'll be neighbors :goodvibes . Now, we did get a navigator's veranda for the 14-day transatlantic 'cause I didn't think I'd care for 2 weeks w/o a view :crazy2: .

Glad to see I won't be down in the dungeon alone! I was just happy to get something booked for this Member's Cruise. Its my first one and I was so nervous that first day of booking that I wouldn't get in. So I won't complain about my inside stateroom.

I have a veranda on the Transatlantic too. No way I would last 14 days without it! Its so cool that we'll both be on both those cruises! :cool1:

Now we just have to hope that NEXT years Member's Cruise doesn't conflict with the Transatlantic!

We have done just the opposite for these two cruises, I will probably wish we had done it the other way. I just figured that on the longer cruise that I would try to spend as little time as possible in the room. On the MC we got the veranda for adding on last year, other than that the only time we were in our cabin last year was to sleep or shower and change clothes so I would not have chosen a veranda.
It will be nice to get to know people before we do the long cruise!

Congrats Flo & Kelly on the pirate: and the :bride: !

Mary - good luck to you. You and Mark are in my thoughts.:grouphug:

Boy, big news in my hometown today. We had a fire downtown! :scared1: They had to call in fire departments from three other towns to help fight it. We are from a town of about 12,000. Not real big but not real small either. They were able to keep it to three buildings, but unfortunately there was a fatality. There were apartments above the businesses and there was a 25 year old young man who didn't get out. Sad. :sad1: So I was consumed with that at work today. We kept checking the news all day.

Plus we have also been having major computer problems at work which have been a total pain. :crazy2: It is driving all of us nuts in the office. We have a computer tech guy coming tomorrow to hopefully fix the problem.

Well, have to take Brooke to dancing. My life of running kids, never ends!:drive:

Good morning everyone - happy Tuesday!

I don't have a time for the surgery yet. I think it is supposed to be 9 am but the doctor said the hospital would call us today with final details on when we need to be there etc.

Today is a day of clear liquids and another night of drinking the prep - yuck!

Got a chance to talk to the president of my company yesterday and also to my client so that is over with. Now I just have to tie up a few more things at work.

I'm very happy that Mark's brother has offered to come and be with him tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi, Mary,
I have not been doing all that well with returning to work, and babysitting my grands...lots of pain, and so I have not been on the computer as much as I usually am....and I am so so praying for you tomorrow and the surgeons and nurses. You didn't say, but I am assuming they are planning on just a resection of the bowel. I know whenever I have surgery, I just concentrate on my faith...and I just remember how Jesus had nails hammered in His hands and feet and if He could have the grace to stand that ordeal, I know He can help me. I usually sing my favorite hymn to myself and it is so settling for me.
Don't know if you have ever had surgery, but it is so important with abdominal surgery to deep breath and cough to get your lungs moving air...most patients develop fevers because they don't aerate their lungs...brace your belly with a pillow and try your best to cough and deep breath and use the spirometer they give you too.
Walking is the best thing you can do post op to get your bowels working again. You will have lots of gas pain from all of the air absorbed while you are open in the OR...I think that was the worst for me...but if you walk it passes....Just know we are all here praying for you and your family too.

My love and blessings to you. When you are able, please email me and let me know how you are.
Susanpixiedust: :grouphug:

Oh, Flo, I will email you when I find my paperwork again...I am so scatter brained....:rotfl2:

Have a good evening and hope the town gets back to normal soon.

All those days at sea will be much more fun with some old friends around!

Wow! So sorry to hear about the fire. Things like that are just so devastating. Its so sad.

I hope the computer guy can at least aleviate some of the stress those darn computers are causing. I'm telling ya - computer problems and car problems are probably the two most annoying things! Either one can just suck all the positive energy out of the day!

(And I totally hear ya about running the kids around. I don't see an end in sight for me either!)

I have not been doing all that well with returning to work, and babysitting my grands...lots of pain, and so I have not been on the computer as much as I usually am....

I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. I was wondering how you were doing with your return to work. I sure hope you heal up quickly. Its no fun being in that kind of pain.

I love that you get so much strength from your faith. You are one smart lady! Those are some lucky grandkids who get grow up in such a positive environment even though you are hurting so bad right now.

AH, my DGD turned 4 on 1/11. Aren't they just the BEST little angels in the world? Makayla is my sweetie pie...the boys want to tackle me and don't take too well to hugs..a kiss is ok, but Makayla always says, "Can I snuggle with you?" Gotta love it.

Dianne,

I agree the Character breakfest is the best.:)

I just love what your DGD said. As I was reading it I was cracking up.

Flo - The computer problems are in my office now. They were in a different office when we got called in the middle of the night. Since my DH is the IT
person where we both work, it is doubly frustrating. But, things will work out. . .eventually I hope.

Well, the computer guy is my DH, but he has had to call in some other computer guys because it is a system that we had before he came to work at the county and it is an old iron horse system. Ughhhhh :crazy2:

My oldest daugher will be 16 in May. She is already driving to and from school on a school permit. Which does help some. But only if it is a school event at her school can she drive anywhere. And it scares the begebbies out of me!

Thought I'd give everyone the latest update. Met with the surgeon today and surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday 2/4. Still need to have an EKG and CT scan done before then. I'll be scheduling those tomorrow. So things are rolling along!
Mary :grouphug: & pixiedust: to you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Mary... Nancy and I have you in our prayers, we wish the best for you. We leave for WDW tomorrow am for the LOOONG drive from CT.

We did not make up our mind until yesterday that the trip was still on, as my father-in-law is in the final stages of Altzheimers and now is confined to a nursing home. Its a horible disease I first thought it was just memory issues, it is much more than that.

Bruce Jr, starts the Disney College Program on Monday ! We are very excited about and can't wait to find out where he will be a lifeguard. Its his first time away from home. His twin brother will not have anyone to fight with.

Hope all is well with everybody ... Have a Magical Day !...Beastly
I hope you had a safe drive and congrats to your son. I've heard it is extremely difficult to get into Disney's college program. You must be so proud of him!!

Kelly, I am hoping that the groundhog on Feb. 2nd does not see his shadow. We will have to see.
I look at borthdays this way. If I can still do the things I like that I am not getting older.;) It is funny to see my DS (23) to look at getting older different now. WHen he sees kids that are younger then him growing up.
BUt I am ready for spring to.!:cool1: That being us closser to the SSMC09.:cheer2: flo :surfweb:
I like the way you think about getting older. My DS turned 23 yesterday and you are right about the way they look at things. He is renting a house with two friends and he was complaining to me today. Why is he the only one who puts dishes in the dishwasher? He is tired of picking up after them! Blah! Blah! Blah! It was comical to hear him say all of that, He is definitely growing up!

Well, sometimes people pick Late Dining because they don't want a lot of kids around. I know I'm a litte biased, but I just wanted to assure our table that they won't be disruptive. (As a matter of fact, they usually ditch me pretty early in order to make it to one of the Kids Club programs! )

:cool1: :dance3: :cheer2:
Congrats Kelly on :bride: and pirate: Kelly...my husband just said....he is glad that he will not be the only kid at the table....kids always welcome at our table. :) Take care.....Monika:daisy:
Well, that means there will be more children aka my DH! on the cruise. Our Godson told my DH that he thinks my DH is only 12!:rotfl2: We took our DGS with us when we cruised in October 2008 and he ate dinner with us every night. I think he had a little crush on our waitstaff, Galina. Then he would take off to go back to the Oceaneer Club. He loved it!

Any way, pixiedust: & :grouphug: for anyone that may need them! Annmarie

I've been reading the posts late at night when I can't sleep but it's difficult to do this and type from my iPhone so I just caught up on 40 pages! Boy, you "guys" are quite the Chatty Cathy's! :rotfl2: Well, I'm not really :rotfl2: because my back but you get the idea! lol Have a good evening and I hope I am able to sleep tonight! Annmarie

Hi All!

I've been lurking and haven't gotten around to reading all of the posts. I wanted to read everything before I joined in but it seems it's gonna take me a long time to read EVERYTHING. I'm just going to start posting. We are booked for the SSMC09!!! We are from the suburbs of Chicago and this is our first cruise!! The kids are giddy with anticipation. DH doesn't think it will be fun but his friends told him they liked to cruise so he decided we could try Disney. (I've been harrassing him to take a cruise since we got married but it took his friends to push him over the hump.) Oh well, I'm not going to complain!! I'm so excited and I don't know what to expect. I want to be involved in everything! I want DH to have so much fun he'll want to go again and again.

Can anyone give us some advice on what to expect? Also, is there some "must do" or something we should stay away from? I'm sure some of my questions can be answered in earlier posts but it's going to take me a long time to get through them all.

Thanks!!!
Susie

Welcome aboard Susie!

Check out the first post of this thread. That will give you some insight into what the group is doing. It will also give you a link to the groups web page. On the web page there are additional links to the trip reports from our past Member Cruises (sorry 2008 isn't done yet). Hopefully all that will answer your questions.

Now that you have found us don't be a stranger. Stick around and get to know us and let us get to know you.

I'm Mary and I'll be cruising with my DH Mark. This is our 6th Member Cruise and our 13th DCL cruise. We've got a great mix in this group of first time cruisers and experienced cruisers so don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Good morning everyone! I'm up and dressed and will be heading out to the hospital soon. Mark is going to call Karen (ohiominnie) once I'm out of surgery and she'll update here when she gets a chance (it is a busy day for her as well).

Thank you all for all the kind thoughts and prayers. They are greatly appreciated. I'm a firm believer in prayers and I'm blessed to have so many of you thinking about me.
