Mary,

I am glad I found the channel. It is interesting listening to him talk. I like they way he puts it into perspective. He is talking about lighting and thunder. I did not see or hear that. Did you? I know my cousin just sent me an e mail and asked me if I heard the thunder during the night. I know I heard something but at this time of the year I never thought of thunder.

Well I made it to work. Really the drive wasn't too bad. Streets have been plowed at least once but then more snow on top so lots of ruts and slush. I'm thinking by time to go home things will be much cleaner.

Still with a short commute it was not a fun drive.

Glad you made it to work safe and sound. The ruts and slush are the worst, especially when you are at a light or stop sign and have to get started again. Safe trip home.

The good thing is I really only had to stop once and that was for a train right before a left turn. The rest of the time I was able to creep up to the light while it was red and it turned green before I got there so I could keep moving slow but sure. I love the all wheel drive of my VW!

Yuck Flo,

Stay inside and stay warm. We are supposed to be getting that tomorrow afternoon, 7-12 and more on Sunday.

Anyone traveling in bad weather please be careful.:scared1: Things can and do happen quick!

Well the snow here looks like it is over. :woohoo: It created a mess this morning. I think the sout side of Illinois got more ice then we did. We got luck in the northwest burbs. We only got a couple of inches.

So here is some :wizard: that you will not all that snow either.

And I drive a Subaru. Last winter I got run off the road once, and only needed a bit of shovel work to drive right back up. :thumbsup2

Today wasn't as bad as it could have been. The totally awful weather they were predicting didn't hit quite that way. There are some power outages in the very far south suburbs, but not as widespread as what was feared to happen. I'd guess we got about 4 inches, maybe 5. Yes, it was wet, but as I said the other day I have serious equipment at work, and did very well in getting it all cleaned up properly. And no less here at home, in a virtually unstoppable snowthrower that has to be 15 or more years old and still performs as well as the day it was bought. It's a tank unto itself, one of those old school all steel models from when they really built them to last. :) One thing I tell people about snow is it isn't a big bother when you can prepare for it, better that than some other effects of nature where your only option is to run away.

Cold, you can dress for. Some of those scary high temps that hit the southwest or sometimes Fla, if you dressed for them, would probably get you arrested. :lmao:

Woo Hoo - I'm home from work and don't have to go back until the 29th! Looking forward to a nice quiet week at home and a nice quiet Christmas!

Good Morning all...

Well we got about a foot of snow and another storm coming on Sunday.

It about 19 degrees and I can hear the snow plows coming by.

It kind of funny to be on a Cruise Board when the weather is like this... makes me yearn for the cruise all the more.

Drive safe and have a Happy Holiday !

Ok! Now that the snow stopped we have a wind advisory starting tonight into Monday. It is now 25 out and by tonight it is going to be in the single digits. Then with the wind chill minus. Oh well!

Stay safe and have a great weekend.

Good morning everyone - happy Saturday!

Yep more snow coming as well as more cold. Ah - winter in Chicago. Yes it makes me yearn for Castaway Cay. Good thing we have this thread to share - makes a nice warm place to have fun. :)

Good Morning everyone! So glad to have the computer back up and working at home!

I know it has been a while since my last post and I have been trying to keep up. But on Thursday night while I was trying to post my sister called and said that our Grandma was not doing well and we had to head to town right then. It was starting to rain/ice when we left home and we were to be getting 6-8 inches of snow through the night. Well, we spent the night at the hospital, and Grandma pulled through. She is 88 years old and doesn't even remember what happened to her that night. But, it doesn't look good. I just hope she stays around through the Holiday Season. I told my sister that I can't start the year losing a loved one, my father-in-law, and end the year with losing Grandma. I'm still having trouble with the father-in-law loss. He was the best!

Sorry to be depressing, but I guess I need to get it out. Thanks for listening.

Well, the weather is going to stink here this weekend. We have so many advisories around the state for this weekend. From Winter Weather Advisories to Blizzard Warnings. For us we are under a Blizzard Watch. Wind Chill's are to be -20 to -30 below and tomorrows highs are not to be above zero. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

We still have to try and get the girls to see Santa for our picture :scared1: Nothing like waiting till the last minute. And with the weather, we may miss it this year. But I hope not.

Well, everyone be safe out there this weekend. And again, thanks for listening.

Have a safe trip. Are you staying for the Holidays?

Yup, got here Wednesday evening. Will celebrate Christmas with my family tomorrow (Sunday) Then Monday I rent a car one way and head to Mike's family's house. We'll celebrate on the 24th and I'll head back to sun and warmth the evening of the 26th. :)

So far it's been very very cold here, but I haven't stepped foot out of the house, so I don't really care. :)

Just popping my head in to say hello. It's been a minute but we've been on the road a lot. Thanksgiving, Tina Turner, 2 cheer competitions...whew...will wear a person out. ;o)

Hope everyone is well.

Boy is it cold here! It is 2 below without the wind chill, with the wind chill is is 24 below.

As you can tell by the time I can't sleep.

Good for you Mary! I wish I was taking more time off but since we need to close 2008 and finalize the 2009 budget by making a few more changes then il be done! I'll take a few days off this week when Shawn arrives and that will be about it.

Good morning Member Cruisers!
We sail in 38 weeks!

38 - isn't that great?
:woohoo::dance3::woohoo::dance3::woohoo:

Good morning everyone - it is very very very cold here in Chicagoland. Wind chill is -25 according to the weather channel. We opted to stay in this morning as we are both fighting the starts of colds and trying to make them go away before they become full blown.

Flo & Annmarie - looks like you both were having trouble sleeping last night. Been there, done that.
