I hope all you folks who are having ice and snow stay safe and warm. Be careful out there!

We've had a rainy day, but that's just a comment, not a complaint by any means. Compared to some of the nation, we've got it good.

It is nasty out there!

I'm blessed that I am done with Jury duty so only had a short commute home.

Today was our pot luck at work and it was a lot of fun and lots of good food. Also got lots of yummy goodies from my secret santa! :santa:

I hope everyone in the path of these storms stays safe!

Flo,

Thanks for the wishes. They are on the way to our house right now to try and fix it! :cool1:

The only thing is we are getting a lot of snow right now. It has been snowing since 7:00 am and we are to get between 3-5 inches by tonight and then an ice storm on Thursday. So hopefully we will be back in business. Keep your fingers crossed.

Here's hoping your internet is now fixed and that the ice storm doesn't happen. We are getting your snow now so hopefully it has left your area!

Mary,

You are so right abouot it being nasty out there. My DH left work at 4:00 and is usually home by 4:30. He works in Broadview, Il. He still is not home.

Stay safe to any one that is out in this ugly weather.:wizard:

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Anything w/custard or pudding.

Joanne - Have you ever made sand and dirt cups? I made them one year for a holiday and now whenever the children come to the house they always expect them. They love the gummy worms (used during the summer) and gummy bears (at Christmas time). The are really easy to make and depending upon the time of year, I've put them in beach pails, large Easter eggs, Christmas ornament (bowl) with matching bowls for guests. I've got the recipes if you want them.

That would be great, Annmarie. Thanks; I'd appreciate the recipe. I've got a DGD6 who would love that, I'm sure.

Good morning everyone - happy Wednesday!

Crazy night last night here in Chicagoland. They reported some commutes up to 4 hours on the highway!

I had no real problems getting home. Mark stayed at work since he plows for 2 of the locations. He rode out the storm at work and then went and plowed when the snow stopped and didn't get home until midnight!

Flo I hope Dan got home ok. I'm really glad I didn't have to go downtown yesterday!

There are plenty of recipes online but here is how I make mine. They are so easy to make and are a big hit with kids of all ages! Believe it or not, with all of the different ways I've made these, I've never taken one picture prior to serving them!

Sand Cups
1 qt. (4 cups) cold milk (I use 2%)
2 pkg. (4-serving size each) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1/2 box NILLA Wafers (Reduced Fat-no one knows the difference but me), crushed (lumpy is okay but make some finely crushed too and set aside).
1/2 8 oz tub reduced fat cool whip, thawed
1 package bear-shaped chewy fruit snacks (any shape will do depending upon your theme)

If desired Teddy Graham cookies with life saver gummy bears.

Make pudding according to directions on package. Let chill for 3-5 minutes. Add Cool Whip and chill again for a few minutes. Add crushed cookies to the mix (saving the finely crushed for the later). Chill again for a few minutes or until ready to serve.

Depending upon how you plan to serve it, if using a pail: fill with mixture. Add finely crushed "sand" to cover the top. Add gummy bears or the little Teddy Graham crackers put inside Life Saver gummy rings.

Tips:
1. Plastic cups (I usually buy the cocktail style - smaller at the bottom and wider at the top if I'm not doing a theme

2. I put some crushed cookies on the bottom (if I make individual cups).

3. If using a beach pail to bring to a party, I use the shovel to scoop it out. If using other decorative container, try to be creative with the scoop rather than a plain spoon.

4. Leave out some extra worms, "life preservers", Teddy Graham Bears or Gummy Bears.

One time I made this in a 13x9 foil pan and 1/4 of the pan was cool whip with blue food coloring so it looked like water with waves going toward the "beach". I even added some Aqua Swedish Fish to the water. The remainder of the pan was the "beach" sand mixture with the little drink umbrellas, gummy life savers, chocolate and honey teddy grahams, along with a few other beachy items I could find. I used sticks of the striped gum as towels for the gummy and graham cracker bears to lay on. Everything was edible though.

Dirt Cups
1 qt. (4 cups) cold milk (I use 2%)
2 pkg. (4-serving size each) JELL-O Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding
1/2 box Chips Ahoy Chocoate Chip Cookies (See Tips #1 below), crushed (set some aside).
1/2 8 oz tub reduced fat cool whip, thawed

1 package worm-shaped chewy fruit snacks (any shape will actually do depending upon your theme)

Make pudding according to directions on package. Let chill for 3-5 minutes. Add Cool Whip and chill again for a few minutes. Add crushed cookies to the mix (saving some to pour over top before serving). Chill again for a few minutes or until ready to serve.

Tips:
1. You can also use a box (6 packages) of the 100 calorie Chips Ahoy Cookies too. The "rocks" won't be as big though.

2. I usually put this in the back of a plastic dump truck or a plastic flower pot and serve with a trowel.

3. Sometimes I'll "bury" gummy charms along with some gummy worms so the "kids" can find treasure as they dig through their dirt!

The best part about this is you can be as creative as you want and everyone will love it! Be warned though! Once you've made it for one party, you'll be asked to make it for others.

PS - Don't make this too far ahead of time (such as overnight) because the pudding could become watery and you'd hate to have to stir everything up after it's been completely prepared!

Good Morning Everyone.

:cool1: The internet is fixed at home finally. My DH got it up and running around 7:00 last night. But, I had to run the youngest to dance class, make goodies for our Christmas lunch at work and make pickle wraps to take to our bowling Christmas party tonight. So no time for the computer last night. Maybe tonight after bowling.

Well, we got around 5 inches of snow yesterday. With more, 3-6 inches and ice, expected for Thursday. I think we are in for another horrible winter this year. Travel is slow and we can get around for now, but tomorrow may be another story.

Safe travels for everyone this week.

Chris,

We are under a winter storm watch here for Thursday afternoon into Friday Morning. We are supposed to get all that ice to.:scared1: It seams like it is going to be one heck of a winter in the midwest this year. I know I remember reading that it is supposed to be a record snow fall this year.:) But they did not say Ice was included. I don't like snow that much but I would rather that then ice.

Stay safe.

Sounds like you are very busy.
We have our Christmas bowling party tonight as well, have FUN!!:woohoo:

Time for another pirate and swan!

PDFG and all our friends who need it!

Mark has to be tired this morning?:)
Tired is waaay too teeny tiny a word. :lmao:Death warmed over might be more on target.

I stayed in here at work till about 8:30, which considering what I've read here on the thread, and heard on the news, was probably a better thing. Then I went out and plowed out the two locations I cover, here at the plant, and one of our satellite stores.

Now don't get me wrong, actually doing the plowing is very easy. The truck I use is way over powered and over equipped for what I'm using it for. It's a fullsize Dodge pickup that was bought at auction from a local village, Hoffman Estates, where they used it for plowing the residential streets, and as such has serious hardware for doing so. Full Mars bar lighting with the bright yellow rotating ones, and strobes, and that fancy one in back that can tell traffic behind you which way to go around you. Has an extra heavy duty plow, you get the picture. As I said, easy, and almost fun doing it.

What gets exhausting is the timeframe, I didn't leave here last night until 11:30p, after putting in a normal maintainance workday besides.

So today I have what I suppose is a migraine or close to one, dunno if it's from being out in the cold, or lack of sleep or some combination of, but it's bad enough that it's making me nauseous, yeesh. Today will be take it easy day here at work. :thumbsup2

Wow take care and get some rest Mark.

I have been on Police tow out here for the last week and understand the hours you are putting in.

I'm good - how about you guys? Stay warm!

We are good thanks, just busy this time of year like everyone else.

If I could stay inside I would stay warm, but with the weather we are doing lots of towing.

Congrats on thepirate:
