09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Chris,

The ice melted and now we are getting hammered with snow By me we got about a foot of it already. We have done the drive 2 times already.

We to had a great Christmas. It was just the 3 of us. That was fun.

Hope you had fun shopping and the stores wer not to bad.

Wow Flo! We didn't get that much snow but we have a bunch. It snowed another 2.5 inches here last night. So we are probably at around 15-18 inches of snow here. That is a lot for us. We haven't seen snow like this for years and years and years!

Glad you had a great Christmas too! This has been one of our best for some reason. I wish Christmas could always be on a Friday though. It is great to have two days off after Christmas. They have been relaxing and we went shopping both days. Got some good deals too. And really, the stores were not that crowded. We only had to take one gift back this year and that was a book. Becca gave us a list of books she wanted but she accidentally put a book on her list that she already had and of course that was one of the books we bought for her. Go figure. But we took it back today and she exchanged it for one that she didn't have. Yay! :yay:

Mary - loved the pictures you have posted on Facebook. They are great.

Happy Birthday Joanne! I hope it was a great one.

Thanks Chris. I'm loving the new little scanner I got and it sure makes sharing pictures easy.

Good morning Everyone!

Have a good week.

Dave - Hope you made it to the world safe and sound.

Good morning everyone - happy Monday!

Back to work I go after a nice 4 day weekend. Only 3 days this week as my company gave us Thursday and Friday off so another 4 day weekend in my future.

Hope everyone got what they wanted from Santa and from others as well.

Have a great day everyone!

Happy Monday everyone!

Hate to go back to work today. It has been such a nice weekend and I don't want it to end. But, we have to go back to work.

So, we will make the best of it.

Have a great day! :flower3:

Good Morning!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I am sure :santa: was good to everyone as I am certain you all were on the Nice List!

Joanne - Hope you had a very Happy Birthday!!!
Dave - Hope you are enjoying the vacation! My parents flew down Christmas morning. They have gone the past few years and it is always very crowded. Hope you are still able to enjoy your time there.

Can you believe we are just days away from 2010. :confused3 Where have the days gone in 2009? Oh that's right....doing school work. :teacher:

We have been enjoying the games, movies, and toys the kids received for Christmas.
Lots of Nerf stuff to add to our current collection. The big hit is the Nerf Big Bad Bow. DD(6) received that and it was a big hit. My nephews had these when they were little (they are now 16, 19, 21, & 22) and the whole family played with them back then. Well, I headed back to Toys R Us yesterday and bought the last 2 in the store. Great fun!!! It's a battle ground in the neighborhood these days when all the kids get out there with all the guns, missiles, bow and arrows.

We watched Disney's Up yesterday which was lots of fun. We also have Tinkerbell's Lost Treasure but haven't watched that one yet. DS also received the Batman Anthology DVD set so he is enjoying watching all of the Batman movies.

This was also a big American Girl year for DD. She received her first 'big' doll from the historical series - Kit Kittredge, several of the mini versions from the historical series, books, crafts, and an American Girl game. And, we are already planning for our trip to NY to visit the American Girl store. I will be prepared for a December trip this year. :thumbsup2

Oh, and I almost forgot. We are officially booked for our next WDW vacation. I have to get my signature updated. My parents booked Wed - Wed over Thanksgiving in 2010. :cool1: Now, to start saving the money. This will be DD's year to do the Perfectly Princess Tea Party at the Grand Floridian. How exciting is that!?!?!

Well, I guess it is time for me to get to work. I need a cup of coffee this morning and a couple of Advil to get me started. The 'bad' back is acting up these days so mornings are a slow start.

Here's wishing everyone a GREAT end to 2009 and an even better start to 2010!!!!

Lisa :cloud9:

Mary, Flo, Robbie, Chris, and Lisa, thanks so much for the birthday wishes. They must have worked because I had a lovely day. The highlight for me was lunch at our favorite Indian restaurant. Butter chicken and veggie korma...YUM! DH gave me a huge bottle of Grand Marnier (so huge I need two hands to pick it up!) 'cause he knows how much I enjoy it.

Good Morning!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I am sure :santa: was good to everyone as I am certain you all were on the Nice List!

Lisa :cloud9:

Lisa, sounds like you had a great Christmas. We gave our DGD7 an American Girl doll for Christmas too, but it's a Just Like Me doll and I dressed her in a matching outfit to the dress she wore that day. I really need to post a picture; she was so tickled. We got the little one a flyboat from the Wonderpets; that was a big hit, too. It's so much fun having the little ones around on Christmas. :lovestruc

It's so great that you'll be going back to WDW for Thanksgiving! I hope they have the lights up by then; they're very beautiful.

I'm glad to read that everyone had a great weekend. I'l still off this week. My company moves most of our holidays to this week so it is a shut down week for us.

Well, I started gathering information on Alaskan cruises today. I can't imagine where I got that idea. :rolleyes1 I am looking at either '11 or '12 for the cruise. Yes, I did get a quote on the Wonder for the first cruise, but I am also checking out the other cruise companies since I would like to have a land portion also.

Morning Everyone!

It is a cold one here.

Joanne - Glad you had a great birthday

Robbie - Good for you off for two weeks.

Lisa - Glad you had a good Christmas. I am sure it will be fun going for Thanksgiving to the world.

Mary - Short weeks are great.

take care all

Morning!

Boy Flo, you were up early today. Hope everything is good for you and you are doing ok.

And yes it is a cold one here too. Our high today is supposed to be 18. On the way in to work today the truck's themometer said it was -9. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Just thinking about Dave and Tanya. Hope they are having a wonderful time at WDW. Can't wait to hear from them when they get home.

Sue - when is your upcoming trip in January. Like the 18th or so? Me and DH are going Jan 22-25. Another short weekend trip. Can't wait. It has got to be warmer there than here for sure! Even if it is only in the 60's we will be happy.

Well, have a great day all and stay WARM!!!! :flower3:

heading to the world tomorrow for new years celebration. Hope the weather is nice. Never been swimming on new years day but hope to do that this year. Happy New Year to everyone and stay warm and safe.

Have fun Mark. I wouldn't count on swimming as I hear it was in the 30's this morning at WDW. Brrrrr! Better than the single digits we've had but not swimming weather in my book.

Hello!

Mark - Have a great vacation!! Who says you still can't go swimming? You can just join the Polar Bear Club down there.

Chris - I thought it was cold here this morning when we took Kyle to the dentist. Temp 27 Windchill 14 but -9. I can not imagine. Stay warm..find someone to snuggle with..

You too Flo and Mary.

Joanne - We have been to WDW on several occasions over Thanksgiving and the lights have always been up at some point during our trip. Sometimes it has been the entire trip and other times you woke up and everything was decorated. Love it! Wish I could do that here at my house. :lmao:

Robbie - Enjoy your long holiday vacation. Have fun planning that Alaska trip. That is on my wish list. Maybe in a few years.

For the family trip I think there are 13 of us at this point. That could always grow if my aunt and uncle join us. They are frequent visitors. They were down before Christmas. I think they got back 2 days before Christmas and they are heading back down tomorrow. Now that is the life.

We have been taking down the Christmas tree ornaments. Hopefully we will get it all back up in the attic this evening. It is so windy and cold that I dread going up in the attic. Brrrrrrrrr!

Enjoy your evening and stay warm.

Lisa

Chris,

That is great that you are going for a weekend trip. Were are you staying?
I agree for us 60's is nice and people that live in FL are were coats.

We are staying at home. SSR that is :lmao: That is our home resort. We tried for BLT or BW but neither were available so we just went to our home resort. Which we love!!!!!! We are going to try a studio this time. We have never stayed in a studio before so it will be interesting. And since it is just DH and me, we don't need to spend alot of points. We will be back down in March in a 2 bedroom at Wilderness so that is ok. Besides, we aren't in the room much! Plus this trip we are getting our owners locker for the first time. How exciting is that! I know it is very exciting for us. We can't wait to pack stuff in it. To me it seems kinda like a time thing. What a thrill it will be to go back next time to see what we left behind. ;) I know we want to leave laundry soap, toiletries, sunscreen and booze. :thumbsup2 Plus Bobby is talking about leaving some of his Disney shirts down there. He doesn't wear them much up home here but he sure does while we are there. Oooooo, I'm getting excited just thinking about going! :rotfl2:

Oh Chris - I'm soooo upset! You'll be coming down on the 22nd and we'll be leaving on the 21st!! I'm so bummed! I was really hoping we'd get to see you guys. Oh well, we'll just have to think of another reason to go down and try to meet up again. that shouldn't be hard - hehehe

I was thinking about Dave and Tanya too! Hope they are having a good time and the crowds haven't overpowered them.

Joanne, sorry I missed your birthday - so Happy belated Birthday!! Hope it was a great day! Sounds like you got quite a large bottle there!!

Well, our snow is all gone thanks to the terrible rain we had on Christmas. But for a little while the 28 inches was very pretty! - I pain to shovel and drive in, but pretty none the less. Now tomorrow we are forecast for freezing rain - yuck!! And just when DS Tom is scheduled to leave for NC. Color me worried!! Yes, I know he's a big boy, but I still worry.

Chris I'm really still upset - tell Bob that he really has to plan better!! :rotfl2:

Mary - how are you feeling?

Flo - how's your dog? Hope he is still getting better!

Dianne - the recipe is still coming - sorry it has taken me sooo long - just not enough hours in the day - especially when Tom is here - I want to spend all my extra time with him!! The quilt was absolutely gorgeous! How did they like it? Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Speaking of pictures - Chris and Dave - I finally made copies of our group photo and I should be putting them in the mail by the end of the week!

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the wonderful good wishes. I got some good (not great but good news). It wasn't anything they felt was a concern at this time. So no biopsy needed. I do have to go back in 6 months for a follow-up which could lead to a biopsy or could prove it is nothing. So for now I'm breathing a sigh of relief and ready to enjoy the holiday!

Dianne - what a beautiful quilt.

To all my SSMC09 friends. Thank you for being here for me all year. May the blessings of the season be on you and your families.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Christmas-Minnie-Mickey-Claus.jpg

Mary, I will be here for you as long as you need me...God bless you.:wizard::wizard:

Well as most of you amy have noticed that after that last post on Christmas Eve, I disapered again...On christmas eve around 8:30 or so my dd and I were trying to get on the computer and we were having problems connecting, thought is was a network problem and was trying to figure it out. We finally gave up, Christmas morning my DSIL tried to call his Mother down under. And we we noticed, we did not have a phone either. We called ATT and they told us we had to wait until Tuesday. So yesterday around 1:30 they came out and found out a wire had broken on a pole four blocks away. and about three other families did not has service either. I could not believe it took so long to get service. I was not a happy camper. But it was nice and quite.

Sue, no hurry on the recipie

Joanne, I am so sorry I missed your birthday so

Happy Happy Birthday

Everyone take care,,,and just in case I will tell you all now. Have a very happy and prosperous New Year

I miss you all and am planning to Join you all on 2011 Members Cruise.

God willing of course. Maybe DH will be employed by then.:goodvibes

Good Morning Fellow DISers!!!

As we close the book on 2009 and think back to our fond memories from the year - especially those with our DIS Friends :grouphug:, let's not be sad. Think of all the new adventures 2010, 2011, and beyond will hold! So many opportunities for creating more memories.

For me, 2010 will bring many changes and some challenges but I am so excited to see what the future holds.

I will finally finish school which as you all know will be such a relief. I find myself every day thinking...this time next year I will be done!

The kids and I will be starting our 'healthier lifestyle' together and I hope to continue with my weight loss. We are setting up an exercise schedule and the kids will be helping to plan out meals and shop for the groceries. They will be making many of the choices of what we will be eating - within certain guidelines of course. They will also be helping to prepare the meals.

We will also be setting up a household budget together and a job responsibility chart. DD came up with the idea of having 'hopping frogs' with each of our names on a frog. We would jump to our new weekly/daily job. She got that idea from school. :thumbsup2 We all decided we would each create our own animal/character of choice. We even thought of changing the scenery of our responsibiity chart to go along with the season. Ok, so we are still in the planning stages but it should be fun. I guess you could say it will be similar to the bulletin boards the kids have at school.

We are all setting up a Vacation Club Savings at the local bank for our SSMC11 trip. Each of the kids will have their own account that comes along with a coupon book. I will deposit a specific amount each month and they will deposit whatever additional money they want from their new weekly allowance and any other money they may receive.

Boy, this all sounds great when written out. Let's hope it all goes as smoothly in real life. :lmao:

I want to wish you all a VERY HAPPY, SAFE, and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!!!

As I raise a glass this evening :drinking1 to toast the start of the New Year, my wish for you all is a year filled with  , :lmao:, :grouphug:, :yay:(love, laughter, friendship, and good health)!!!

Lisa :flower3:

Joanne - Happy Belated Birthday!

Lisa - You are sucha a great organizer. The responsibility chart sounds fantastic. And, what a great idea getting the kids involved with all aspects of becoming a healthier family. That is my goal too - to become a healthier family.

Sue & Chris - I am so jealous that you will be going to WDW in January. I would love to escape the cold. Have fun!

Mark - Have a safe trip.

Robbie - I was thinking about an Alaska cruise but I am so partial to warm weather when I vacation.

Mary - I am glad you are doing better. You are in my prayers.

Dianne - I concur with everyone else - the quilt was beautiful. Sometimes I wish I could sew but that is a fleeting thought. Here is hoping that the new year will bring a employment opportunities to your DH.

Flo - How is your dog doing? And, of course how are you and the job?

I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous, Peaceful, and Safe New Year. If you are going out, stay safe. Don't drink and drive (I know it goes without saying) and watch out for other drivers. Stay safe and warm.
