09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Good Evening DIS Friends!!!

(and Good Morning for those that will not see this until sunrise)

Hope all is well with everyone!

Flo - Something just dawned on me as I was reading through the notes here. I believe you are an empty nester (right??) and as you respond to everyone's posts it is neat how you are always reminiscing about the days when DS participated in the different activities. I can almost picture you sitting at your computer drinking your coffee and smiling as you reminisce about the fond memories. Maybe I am reading in to this but it seems to me like you are ready to be a grandmother. As much as you probably really enjoy having the time to 'do your own thing'. Something tells me you are looking forward to having a little one around to spoil (and then send home of course) and create many more memories. Does DS have a significant other??? Okay, maybe he is still in college. Maybe it is too early yet. But I still think you are ready. Hey, someone else with whom you can share the joy of Disney. :thumbsup2

Lisa - Thanks for the above! It meant alot.;) My DS graduated college in 2004. He is now working. He moved back home ( well if you call it living at home. He isnever here.) Yes, I would love grand kids at some point. I want him to get settled first. He will do a good job showing them his joy for Disney to. he loves it. They grow up so fast that is whay I say enjoy every minute with them. Do all the activies you can with them. I know I do not regreat any of them.

Hey, where's Sue? I did not see her out here.

Agree! Hope all is well?

As for me, I finished up class this week. Had a frustrating ending to the class but it is done and over with and I am not going to re-live the events. Putting it all behind me. Good class but glad it is over.

Glad you are done for a little while. Congrats! Sounds like you could use a :grouphug:

I spent the weekend working on the bathroom. What a job! :headache: I removed all the caulking (or whatever you call it) from around the bathtub. I think it had a couple of layers. Yuck! I also ripped out some extra moulding that really served no purpose other than to collect lots of dirt on it and underneath of it. I bleached everything and scrub it all down (walls, ceiling, tub, etc) I put all new caulking in yesterday and had to let that set. I started to paint last night. I did not get any painting done today so hopefully tomorrow I can get it finished. I had one of those....why did I start this moments?....but once I saw how much better the tub looked after doing all that work I was pleased. I figured I was going to have to replace it soon but I can definitely get more use out of it. Other than the toilet, everything in the bathroom is the original from when the house was built many years ago. So, it is not very stylish but serves its purpose. At least the good cleaning and painting should freshen it up a bit. Hey, if I can get more years out of this stuff that means a few extra dollars for vacations!!

Sounds like the bathroom is going to look great. You took on one heck of a job. Good for you.:)

A real exciting weekend wouldn't you say! :confused3 Hey, I have to get it done when I can. We have 3 games this week for DS and DD has dance and then there is Halloween next weekend.

I like the way you think.:) Good luck with the games and dance this week. What are the kids going to be for Halloween.

The kids are off for a 5 day weekend in November for the NJEA convention and then Vet's holiday. That is the weekend we will put up our Christmas tree. :rolleyes1 I know some may say...WHAT?? Your Christmas tree the first weekend in November. Yup! I love to get that up and out of the way. We do not have a real tree so we can put it up early. It is so much fun being able to take our time as we put the ornaments on. Of course, we have to discuss each one. It used to be that we put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. But, we started doing our annual family vacation at Disney over the holiday. The first year I did not have the tree up and when we got back everything was so hectic. I did not get half of my decorations up and we really missed the special time of just sitting around enjoying the holiday. So, from that year on my tree was always up before our November vacation.

Sounds like fun for the kids.

We are not even going to Disney for the holidays this year but it has become a tradition now to be the first one on the block with our tree up. We actually get cars stop out front. I am sure they are doing a double take. :lmao: It really is a lot of fun and leaves me with time to do so many other things. It is definitely a conversation piece when someone drops by in November. I am getting excited just thinking about it.

I see nothing worng with putting the tree up that early.:) If I could I would. But my family makes me wait till Thanksgiving week. I sart playing christmas music right after Halloweeen. in fact we have a radio station that plays noting but Christmas musick starting November 1st.

Okay, well I have to get the cub scout advancements done before I go to bed. I sat down an hour ago to work on them but got on here first. I know better than to get on here if I really need to get work done.

Hope everyone is able to Stay Healthy with the flu going around.

Lisa

Take care Lisa!

Yes, I do..I've been trying to figure out how to decorate on a budget. I have come up with a couple of games to play, and Michael tested his mecanical Parrot.
Also trying to figure out what type of food to lay out. Thinking desert, with fruit and some type of display, you know the way disney would do.

Dianne,

Do you have any dollar stores close? They always have disney things there.

I could understand doing it on the budget.:)

I am so excited for you.:thumbsup2

Morning Everyone!

Hope all are well.

Dave - like your mickey for Halloween.

Morning Gang!

Lisa - I wish I had half the energy you do. Look at all you accomplish. I so wish I could do that but I'm a lazy bum. Congrats on finishing your class. When does the next one start?

Dianne - sounds like you will have a good time with your party. Have fun. :goodvibes

Flo - I agree with Lisa, you will make a wonderful grandma! When the time is right of course. :thumbsup2

Dave - the girls are feeling much better. I don't think it was the flu just colds and they were run down a little so that just aggravated it. But both are back on track now. And I hope they stay that way!

We are kinda bummed this week because we are usually at Disney this week. But, we couldn't go because of Becca needing to be here to do the All-State tryouts and the school musical. So, no Boo To You parade this year. Butttttttttttt. . . We will be there in 10 days to end the F&W Festival! :woohoo:

And I agree, where is Sue? :confused3

Oh, and Dave or Sue, would it be possible to get a copy of the photo of all of us from our anniversay drink? I would love to have a copy of it. I didn't get one on my camera cuz my battery died. Thanks!

Have a great day! :flower3:

Good Morning Deck 9 Sunrise Members and all Fellow Cruisers

No, I don't think anyone has started a thread yet. Sorry, I'm not a leader, just a follower, and will so miss Mary's weekly updates for this next cruise! I so hope you will be able to get through on the 7th. We can't wait to get back on the ship! And, just so you know, we are in room 7022. :woohoo:

So cool! When I was in school, we didn't do a Sr. Trip. Of course I graduated with over 180 people and Becca will graduate with just a little over 60. So, I can't wait.

Thanks for the kind words Chris. So glad that you were able to upgrade and have the girls join you. I know you guys will have a blast.

No senior trip for me. We had over 1200 in our graduating class!

Good Evening DIS Friends!!!

(and Good Morning for those that will not see this until sunrise)

Hope all is well with everyone!

Mary - Hope all went well today. Was thinking about you this morning. Sounds like I should have also been sending special wishes to Mark also. Hope he is feeling better.

Hope everyone is able to Stay Healthy with the flu going around.

Lisa

WOW Lisa - you are one very busy lady. I could never do all that. Yesterday went ok. The port removal wasn't as simple as I thought it would be and it is kind of wierd to know they have you open (though just a small bit) and are talking over you. My doctor had a resident helping him and so there was a good bit of teaching done. :lmao: It is out now which is good!

As for my teaching - well that didn't happen. We have over half our department out yesterday (2 were planned) and those who were left were covering their work so we had to cancel and I'll do 2 classes tomorrow (one AM, one PM).

Dianne-Have a great time planning you house party!! I was trying to find out if there is any close to us, but really couldn't navigate thier site easily.

Sue-....Sue?....Oh Suuuueee..... Bueller.... Bueller? Hope all is well with Sue and her family!

Good morning Dave!

I'll echo two of Dave's points.

Dianne - have a great time with your house party. I think you should just model the party after the sunrise club. Once you get everyone there just sit around and chat! Have some pictures or photo albums from your cruises and just share the fun you had. That's what it is all about.

Hope all is well with Sue!

Well today is a planned day home from me. Originally just for rest and to use up one of my vacation days. My darling husband of 19 years (happy anniversary Mark) must have shared some of his germs with me. My throat has been sore and scratchy since last night. He's still sick so we are both home today.

Have a great day everyone and stay well!

:love:HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MARK & MARY:love:
Hope there are MANY more!

Rest and shake off that bug today Mary!

Just wanted to give everyone a follow-up to the letter I wrote to Jim Lewis. I just spent the last 45 minutes on the phone with someone from the Executive Offices at DVC (no not Mr. Lewis). The gentleman I spoke to was very willing to listen to all I had to say and said he would be following up with many of the leads on the project. Hopefully this will make things better for all of you sailing in 2010. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the advise, sounds like a plan for the party.

Happy Anniversary Mary and Mark!!!:thumbsup2

Sorry you are not feeling well, its starting to make people at work sick, I am doing my best to avoid it.

Also thanks for taking the time to set DVC DCL straight, maybe next time we are able to cruise with them again, it will be better.:yay:

Well, this past week/weekend, DH has been trying to get a hold of someone at DVC to see if we can upgrade/add the girls since we bought points on this years cruise for next years cruise and we are already booked for next years cruise. Well, he was able to add the girls to our cruise but they told him we were not able to upgrade? :confused3 What? Nope couldn't do it. They even called us back on Sunday to say "no, sorry, can't upgrade. You have to take what was offered when we purchased more points." DH said, ok, so long as we have three beds. One for us and one for each girl. They said no problem. But they could't give us a room number. :confused3 What? Ok. He asked if we call back on Nov 7th if we could do all this and they said they didn't know but this is what we could get. We thought, ok, well, we are on at least and we think we have a room with three beds. :rolleyes1

So, today, while at lunch, a CM from DVC calls apologizing for all the confusion and is able to upgrade us to deck 7, with a balcony and beds for all of us. :woohoo: In fact, she even heard me say to DH why can they do it today and not yesterday? She was so nice and apologetic. But I had a weird request after that and she said to ask away. Now, I don't know if it bothers any of you, but. . . . . . on the last several cruises we have been on when we have walked in to our room the bathroom/bed was too my left when we walked in to the room. This time on the 2009 members cruise it was on the right and I was so screwed up! So was DH. So I asked her for a room that when you walked in the bathroom/bed would be on the left. She laughed but knew exactly what I was talking about and gave us room 7022. Said that was with the bathroom/bed on the left. That way, when I get up in the middle of the night and need to use the facilities, I am closest from bed. :rolleyes1 If that makes sense to you? It is not that far to go and I don't have to walk around the end of the bed. Such problems. I know. Who would have thought? Not me, until this years cruise! :rotfl:

So, just thought I would share. And, is anyone else going to call in for next year's cruise? Any One? :rolleyes1

Hi Chris...glad to hear all is well now for next years members cruise. Thanks for sharing.
Gotta love DVC.
We will be calling in on November 7th. Looking forward to it.
Do you know if anyone has started a SSMC 2010 thread?

I have decided that I will be calling in on Nov. 7th as well.
Chirs, I am so envious you have a room already! Glad you were able to get your upgrade.

:surfweb:Good Morning Deck9 Sunrise Members and all Fellow Cruisers :surfweb:

Mary, hope you are feeling better today, and made the most out of your anniversary yesterday.

Good Luck to all those dialing on Nov.7th.
