Hey Everyone,

Just think in a few weeks, we will be sailing away. My trip to Disney was Great, the fireworks were the BEST. We stayed at Saratoga Springs and we had a 2 bedroom villa, I couldn't ask for anything better.

The trip came at a great time, because I was offered a teaching job and I was able to celebrate in Disney style. I can't wait to meet all of you and have a great time on the cruise.

Merrissa

Congrats on the job!!! and glad you had a great vacation!!!

Hi! Happy Sunday.

Boy, remember I told you about the coons getting my corn? Well last night we had some very bad storms come through our area with 70mph winds. They took out most of the garden. So, we don't have to worry about coons no more. ;) DH had to get up and go to town at 3:00 am because he is the IT guy, that's what I call him, for the county we live in and the Sheriff's office was having computer problems because of the storms and he said there were trees down and power lines down in town. And it looked pretty nasty.

Glad everyone is getting in the swing of things with door magnets. Not sure if I'm gonna do any this year. Last year my door was covered with them. We'll see.

WOW - I hope everyone is OK and the damage was not too severe!!!

Don't know if we will do magnets this year. We are in room 5000 so we are really where no one will really see us except when people go to the drill. :confused3

Hello All. I did a quit pop in this morning so I can post that we are 8 weeks away from sailing  :dance3:  and to congratulate Christine & Ian on the :bride: & pirate:. I did not have time to read since we were headed to church.

Now, I find out that Ian will be gone for 5 days so that means there will be no one to harass Terrie about the sharks that are awaiting her on CC. Now, Debbie might be able to add some more cushion to her pirate: lead. Ian was trying to catch up. We could also be on thread 2 by the time he comes back. Wouldn't that be something.

Chris as soon as Chuck gets back from golf we will join you. We are in another heat wave. My pool is like a bathtub!

I'm hoping to go the 2011 member cruise too.

Marsha you can relax SEPTEMBER 13th-Sunday you'll probably be a little crazy getting the family situated:upsidedow

Vicki

It was a busy day for me yesterday. Delivering the flyers in the neighborhood wore me out. It was so hot & draining, Then I started the :laundy: and went grocery shopping. I cannot wait to be relaxing in the cruise.

Busy weekend for me but I feel like I accomplished a lot on the to do list. I think I have got all the FE gifts figured out so that is one thing I can cross off the list. FE's are made and still just have to paint the dowels and Mickey heads. I signed up at a tanning salon so that I won't be "flourescent" come cruise time :laughing:Then I went to the swimsuit store :scared1: I've lost 10 pounds so far but regardless, there is NOTHING in my size. I am looking at 2 piece suits and bottoms are no problem. It's the other piece that isn't working for me :sad2: Fortunately last night I found a thread on the DIS about this subject and checked some online places. I ordered on line and hopefully that will work out. Send pixiedust: please I hate swimsuit shopping!

Today we are going to a BBQ at my mom's :thumbsup2

Hope yuo had fun at the BBQ.
Don't even talk about swimsuits. I can't stand shopping for them. I hope you are able to find one you like. pixiedust:

OK I have spent the last hour looking at all the AMAZING magnets!!! WOW!!!! I have about 20 I want!!!!! I am sooooo excited!!! I found something to do today!!!

78 bottles of rum on the wall, 78 bottles of rum...take one down, pass it around.........

I have printed off some already & I am still not done. My parents & DMIL do not know about the magnet so they will be surprised when they find them on their doors. We definitely have some talented & thoughtful people on the Disboards. Don't forget to take a picture of your stateroom door after you finish decorating it.

Marsha - glad you could jump on for a read - Ian won't know what to do without Terrie to tease!!!

Hello everyone have not been here in quite some time but figured it was getting close better get involved and see what is going on. Can't wait for the cruise to get here.

Tom and Diana

OK! Since we are 8 weeks out from our cruise, I will post tips every week & depending on how long my list is for the tips of the week, I will post them on multiple days. If you have specific questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Also, I must confess that I am getting really excited about the cruise.:banana::banana: I am so excited that I am already considering what to pack and will probably put some things in the suitcase that I know I will not use before the cruise. Call me loco.

Terrie & Nikki - Here's some pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: for both of you to help find your bathing suits! I've had that problem, too....only the other way around. I find a cute mix n match suit and I can't find bottoms that fit. :sad2: Maybe if I would use the treadmill that just sits and collects dust a little more often I wouldn't have that problem. :lmao:

The Sorcerer's Apprentice was really good. Grown Ups was HILLARIOUS! Had a little bit of a bad time (first time for everything) at the drive-in, though. First, when we paid to get in, they shorted us $20. We paid with a $50 and our total was $24 and they gave us back $6. So, I had to walk back up to the ticket booth and tell them they shorted us. They said to go to the concession stand 20 minutes after the first movie and if the drawer was $20 over they'd give it to us. So, I go there and they said to come back 20 minutes into the second movie. So, DH goes back and they tell him to come back in another 20 minutes! :headache: Finally, when he went back the FOURTH time they gave him his $20!! THEN....since we weren't sitting in the car but we were using the radio (they broadcast on the radio and where we park there aren't any speakers, but most of the spots do have speakers), we forgot to start the car every so often. Yep, dead battery at the end of the night. So they had to jump the car for us. Oh yeah, the kids fought the entire night! GRRRR!!!!! At least the weather was warm, the skies were clear, and we got to see two good movies. :upsidedow

Glad you enjoyed the movies. Sorry about the change debacle & the dead battery. Glad it was all resolved at the end.

I am looking forward to meeting you & everyone else as well.

Congratulations on getting a teaching job! :yay: And, what better way to celebrate with a trip to WDW. How did you like Saratoga Springs? We are staying there for our pre-cruise stay. What section were you in? Can you tell I want details? And, if you have some pictures that you do not mind posting that would be great. Am I asking for too much? :rolleyes1

I had to post this fact about the weather we are receiving here in MD/DC area. The weather person just said year-to-date we have had 35 days of 90 or over 90 degree weather compared to 10 the same time last year. I knew it! It has been so hot & humid here with little rain. How I wish I was headed here right now:

Tom and Diana
Definitely get involved and start chatting away. I am excited about the cruise too.

Well since I was talking about packing, here are some tips I have gathered from these here boards. Please feel free to let us know your tips.

LUGGAGE/PACKING (Besides your, passport &/or birth certificate, picture ID, clothes, underwear, & swimsuit)
1. Pack half the clothes and twice the cash.

2. An empty duffle bag exclusively for souvenirs and gifts (member cruise) and/or dirty laundry. Invariably, you wind up going home with way more stuff than you came with.

3. 2.5 gallon zip bags makes packing and travel much easier. Put socks, underwear, and a complete kid’s outfit in individual Ziploc bags. Then roll it to get the air out or compress it somehow. If your bags are searched at the airport, your clothes will not get touched and/or it’s much easier to stay organized especially with a full stateroom. If kids can dress themselves, then they will know to just grab a bag and everything they need will be in that bag.

4. Instead of packing the normal sized toothpaste, shaving cream, deodorants and stuff, buy the sample sized ones and leave them behind when you come home. They are almost used up anyway.

5. Pack your clothes that you don't want to iron on hangers and in dry cleaning bags for your suit bag - you won't have nearly as many wrinkles (your drycleaner will give you extra bags if you ask for them).

6. Pack one suitcase full of stuff, and then put that suitcase inside another one. Then when you get where you're going, you've got an extra, empty suitcase for all the stuff you know you're going to buy!

7. In case of lost luggage, make sure that each person has some full outfits in each suitcase.

8. To cut down on clothing, bring a nice pair of black slacks. They go with just about everything, and just change tops each night. Plus you only need one pair of nice black dress shoes to go with them.

9. If and ONLY IF the weather is not too hot and not too humid the nights you wear a polo to dinner, the next day you can wear the same shirt (if you didn't get it to pitted/stinky partying the night before). You should be able to pack 3 or 4 less shirts (therefore less stuff in the suitcase).

10. Save your old socks, underwear, swimsuits, etc and have them make a one way trip with you. By tossing out old clothes you'll have LOTS of room for souvenirs when you pack to come home.

Marsha - I LOVE THE TIPS and am getting really excited too!!!

I have sooo many questions!!! My biggest right now is transportation. We thought about a rental car but I am worried about the shuttle. We have an OL I would like to have on the cruise - has toiletries, medications, pool/beach toys for the girls. I have to make arrangements for that....

As far as packing - do we need formal attire? I didn't think so for this cruise, but just making sure.

WOW! Sorry to hear that mother nature took the rest of your garden! DH works for the street department and gets called out sometimes when there are crazy storms like that. I absolutely hate it!! I hope everyone there is ok!

So, I didn't know how many posts there would be in between and didn't want to post the # of bottles of rum and look like I didn't know how to subtract. :lmao: So, I posted it and went back and edited it! :thumbsup2

I keep forgetting to post that I'm so excited for you that your pool is up and you got to swim in it already! Looks like it will bring lots of great Summer memories for your family!!
