Hey Everyone,

Just think in a few weeks, we will be sailing away. My trip to Disney was Great, the fireworks were the BEST. We stayed at Saratoga Springs and we had a 2 bedroom villa, I couldn't ask for anything better.

The trip came at a great time, because I was offered a teaching job and I was able to celebrate in Disney style. I can't wait to meet all of you and have a great time on the cruise.

Merrissa

Hi Merissa! Sounds like you had fun! We are going to pop up next month for one night so that DH can see the fireworks and MSEP. Congratulations on your teaching job!

Hi! Happy Sunday.
Boy, remember I told you about the coons getting my corn? Well last night we had some very bad storms come through our area with 70mph winds. They took out most of the garden. So, we don't have to worry about coons no more. ;) DH had to get up and go to town at 3:00 am because he is the IT guy, that's what I call him, for the county we live in and the Sheriff's office was having computer problems because of the storms and he said there were trees down and power lines down in town. And it looked pretty nasty.

Glad everyone is getting in the swing of things with door magnets. Not sure if I'm gonna do any this year. Last year my door was covered with them. We'll see.

74 bottles of rum on the wall, 74 bottles of rum, take one down pass it around. . . .

Sorry to hear about the garden! Yikes.

Hello All. I did a quit pop in this morning so I can post that we are 8 weeks away from sailing  :dance3:  and to congratulate Christine & Ian on the :bride: & pirate:. I did not have time to read since we were headed to church.

Now, I find out that Ian will be gone for 5 days so that means there will be no one to harass Terrie about the sharks that are awaiting her on CC. Now, Debbie might be able to add some more cushion to her pirate: lead. Ian was trying to catch up. We could also be on thread 2 by the time he comes back. Wouldn't that be something.

It was a busy day for me yesterday. Delivering the flyers in the neighborhood wore me out. It was so hot & draining, Then I started the :laundy: and went grocery shopping. I cannot wait to be relaxing in the cruise.

70 bottles of rum on the wall, 70 bottles of rum, take one down and pass it around...

Marsha, thanks for the tips! Those are great!!! I don't know what I am going to do without Ian around to strike terror into me at every opportunity :lmao:

Hello everyone have not been here in quite some time but figured it was getting close better get involved and see what is going on. Can't wait for the cruise to get here.

Tom and Diana

Hi Tom & Diana! We are excited too!!!!

Good night everyone. :)

OK! Since we are 8 weeks out from our cruise, I will post tips every week & depending on how long my list is for the tips of the week, I will post them on multiple days. If you have specific questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Also, I must confess that I am getting really excited about the cruise.:banana::banana: I am so excited that I am already considering what to pack and will probably put some things in the suitcase that I know I will not use before the cruise. Call me loco.

66 bottles of rum on the wall, 66 bottles of rum, take one down, pass it around............

Marsha - I don't think you're  at all for wanting to start packing now. I almost pulled out the suitcases Friday night!

Glad you enjoyed the movies. Sorry about the change debacle & the dead battery. Glad it was all resolved at the end.

Thanks! Everything worked out in the end...so all in all it was a good night. :goodvibes

Have a great Monday, everyone!

Thanks Dopeygirl76

Thanks Terrie, seeing the MSEP made me feel like a big kid. I was happy that my DD got to see the parade that I grew up seeing. MSEP is still great to see and when you hear the music it takes you back. You and your DH will have a great time.

Love, Love, Love Saratoga. That is our main home resort and we just enjoy it so much there. Our favorite area is the Grandstand. So glad to hear you enjoyed it so much. :goodvibes And congrats on the teaching job! And the cruise is going to be here before we know it. It will be so fun to meet everyone.
WOW - I hope everyone is OK and the damage was not too severe!!!

72 bottles of rum on the wall, 72 bottles of rum, take one down and pass it around..............

Thanks. Everyone is fine. Just the garden was injured :rotfl:. Right now we are having another blessed thunderstorm. :headache: Will it ever end????

So we havent been on here in awhile and I have A LOT of stuff to read and catch up on......I've had a trip to Alaska to visit my family, getting ready for a transfer with my husbands job.....kids.....so now I am getting in the mindset that the cruise is REALLY close....went and bought the stuff to make a fish extender, finding some things for gifts, just waiting on the list to see ages of kids etc and I was reading posts and saw that a list has been sent out, just can't find it......hopefully I can start spending a little more time on here again and getting to know everyone before we sail...I am so excited this is getting so close

71 bottles of rum on the wall, 71 bottles of rum, take one down and pass it around..............

Welcome back. And it is getting very exciting how close we are getting. :yay:

Tom and Diana

Glad you are joining in the fun. Everyone is so nice on here. Can't wait to meet everyone at the DIS meet.

Marsha - I LOVE THE TIPS and am getting really excited too!!!

I have sooo many questions!!! My biggest right now is transportation. We thought about a rental car but I am worried about the shuttle. We have an OL I would like to have on the cruise - has toiletries, medications, pool/beach toys for the girls. I have to make arrangements for that....

As far as packing - do we need formal attire? I didn't think so for this cruise, but just making sure.

63 bottles of rum on the wall, 63 bottles of rum......

Nikki - We have booked the Disney transportation from the ship back to BLT. We will also have our OL with us. We are getting it Friday night and will put a cruise tag on it before we get to port because yes, it has all of our toiletries and stuff in it that we aren't taking with us because it is all down there already. Love our OL!!!! :woohoo:

If you rent a car the shuttle is so easy. What I would recommend if you don't want to deal with the luggage is drop off your luggage at port then take the car back and catch the shuttle over so you don't have to deal with your luggage.

No, you don't need formal wear on this cruise. But we do take nicer clothes for dinner. And DH wants to bring up the suitcases already. I bet they will be in the living room by this weekend. :rolleyes1 That's my DH!

57 bottles of rum on the wall, 57 bottles of rum take one down pass it around. . . . .

I bet the rum will be all gone before Ian gets back!!!!! :lmao:

Good Morning all!Back to work:headache:!!! Mondays are horrible!!!

Chris thanks for the info. We love:cloud9: our OL also!!! I can't imagine trying to pack all the things I'm used to having!!!

We had a storm roll through here about 5:30am:scared1: of course DD6 is terrified of thunder and that made wake up time that much earlier - on a monday - when I have to go to work- :sad2:!!!

Have a great day all!!! I am going to start looking at suitcases - our large one was destroyed by the airline on the last trip. So I am hoping for a good sale!!

55 bottles of rum on the wall, 56 bottles of rum, take one down and pass it around.........

Hi everybody! Just popping in to see what's going on....it looks like the "rum festival" is in full swing!! :drinking1

Hope everybody has a great week!!

As Chris mentioned, you do not need formal attire. In your navigator, DCL recommends how to dress for dinner. For example, on last year's member cruise, Sunday was cruise casual, Monday was pirate attire, Tuesday was dressy (not formal though the characters were in their formal wear :) ),

and Wednesday was optional dressy.

We posted at the same time so we both have 50 bottles of rum on the wall.

49 bottles of rum on the wall, 49 bottles of rum, take one down and pass it around.....

Of course, by no means do you need to bring all of this stuff but I do hope some of these tips are useful. I have over 40 to post so I will post 10 a day. If these tips spark questions or ideas, then please share.

EXTRAS TO PACK TO USE IN YOUR ROOM
1. Roll of bubble wrap for anything you buy that's breakable.

2. When traveling with little ones (toddlers) take along a bath mat for the shower/tub and baby bath bubbles to use to get the sunscreen off of them. Don't forget a little bath toy. The bath mat rolls up easy and/or just lays flat in luggage.

3. Over the door shoe holders. Take two for the split bath, one for toiletries and the other for the shoes. Buy the cheap ones and leave them t here.

4. Air freshener (for the bathroom) and dryer sheets (for the clothing storage areas) to keep everything smelling fresh. Rather than just air freshener for the bathroom, pack a small can of Lysol, does double duty as an air freshener and surface sanitizer. The Glade Flameless candle can also be used.

5. Extension cord for iPod, hair dryer, cameras, travel clock, etc. Easy to plug things in overnight and take them for the next day.

6. Different color highlighters to mark navigators.

7. Post its and pens for the room. Great to leave notes for the family who “cross like ships in the night” or even for your cabin steward.

8. Bring a well lit digital clock/travel clock if you like to see what time it is in middle of night, attach to extension cord. For most standard staterooms a good place to keep the clock is on top of the storage trunk.

9. Bring hand sanitizer and/or liquid hand soap. Frequent hand washing is the best defense against getting sick on a cruise or period. Also bring Lysol wipes and wipe down the telephone as well as TV remote.

10. Little bathroom cups for rinsing your mouth after brushing your teeth.

47 bottles of rum on the wall, 47 bottles of rum, take one down and pass it around.....

Out of the tips that I have posted thus far, the ones that I found really useful (meaning the ones that I uesd myself) were:

  1. taking a bath mat for the tub so that the little ones won't slip. Though the tubs in the rooms have traction the bath mat provided some extra security.
  2. packing clothes in a 2.5 gallon size bag. I did not have to search for DS's socks or worry about where his diapers were because I put one in each bag to start the day off without hassle.
  3. the over the door shoe holder came in really useful for us especially for all the little things that we had.
  4. the extension cord was also useful
  5. I am glad I packed some 16 oz plastic containers for our drinks we got from the beverage station. They were the wide-mouthed kind so I can put ice in them and soda or juice and take them to Castaway Cay. The cups DCL provides are small. Plus, DH was able to take soda with him when he watched UP! on the ship.

45 bottles of rum on the wall, 45 bottles of rum..........

We have a power strip in our OL that has been invaluable for chrging our stuff while at WDW....oh how I LOVE my OL - I like the drink container ideas too - I will get some of those - maybe some disposable travel coffee cups - big!!!
