09/08/07 Early Check in September 8, 2007 Western

No cruise docs and no upgrade from my cat 7 cabin on deck 7. Looking forwared to this cruise.
Its been raining here in NJ for the last few days, and we expect rain for the rest of the week.
I'm sympathetic to the weather you're getting...we're in northeast Ohio (Cleveland) and we are getting the same stuff. Been raining here since Saturday evening. yek. I guess we needed to catch up on the lack of rain earlier in the summer. But, enough's enough already! I miss the sun!

We have not received our documents either...hopefully by next week? It's getting kind of close...don't you think? Now, we are all beginning to worry about our documents, like we did about cabin assignments...that means we are all going to be posting on here at once "I got my documents today".

That would be cool....mmmmhmmmmm!

Awww, raining. It's hot as ever here. Where in NJ? My DH has family in Carlstadt (sp?) and I forget the other city, but it's by this really great pizza place we always eat at when we go there called DINO's Pizza.
We are in Central New Jersey, right across the Raritan Bay from Staten Island NY. We are the first town on the Jersey Shore after you cross the Raritan River Bridges. We are about 100 miles north of Atlantic City and 38 miles south of Carlstadt.

Call me crazy....but I love the smell of the DCL cabins! I would hate to ruin it with an air freshener. Granted....it's not a bad idea to have a little something to spray in the bathroom, considering that your bathroom is right on the other side of an extremly thin wall from where you sleep.
Okay...you're crazy! hehehe

Now where did you get that idea? This is a FAMILY oriented cruise. We wouldn't drink alcohol...at least not directly in front of the kiddies! hehehe

I'm Part of the family too!!! But that's ANOTHER reason why i am bringing a full time babysttier. My mom and her frined have a connecting room and we were talking about this the other night. DW and I can get them settled for bed (the kids that is) and leave the connecting door open should the little ones wake up or need some comforting.

Mama... what city do you live in if you don't mind me asking?

one other thing...

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL??!!!

the browns may not be "Bad" this year!!:sail:

Ahhh, you're not to far from half his family. We have family in New York, and Pennsylvania, and Vermont also. And of course family in Dania Beach Florida as well. How funny. Well I hope the rain clears up for you soon. Just think only a few weeks and we'll be in paradise! With hopefully no rain.

Have a great trip to Oakland!

Thanks. I hope it goes good. And I called for cruise doc's for all of us... update: they will arrive UPS around 14 days before the sail date. So we all need to start looking by This Friday!!! YAYAYAYAYAAYAYAY!!!!!!

That's the best way to travel with little ones!!! We tried to get my MIL to go with us last time, but she didn't want to go.

I don't mind you asking where we live...hehehe

We are in Seven Hills between Independence and Parma. Live very close to I-77 and Rockside area. Approximately 8 miles to the Lake!

I don't know about them there Brownies...Hubby doesn't seem too impressed yet. He's very much into football...played all through Junior High and High School. He was captain of the football team I believe Junior and Senior Year. I love to listen to him yell at the T.V. when the Brown's are playing. I'm hoping we have a good team this year; we deserve it! Wouldn't it be great to go back to those Kardiac Kids days? Oh yeah.

No doc here but the day's not over with! Boy... am I hopefull!
And they better contain all 3 weeks at one time.

If the big H keeps heading the way it shows... we(DH and I) might end up with some of that storm here in AZ.
 some rain... we're down about 3 1/2 " as of this month. And just think... we only get 4" of rain per year.

K.. I am so wanged out excited its unreal... :cloud9:
I sure hope the weather holds up.. I get my docs soon.. .and please let these days go by fast and the cruise slow... :dance3:

Reading, researching and trying to figure it all out.. but hoping its so past my expectations that its crazy.... party: :smickey:

so since everyone is telling the weather.. its rainy in Street, MD... has been for past couple days.. but nothing will dampen my spirits... :daisy:

Pub Crawlers Update! :drinking1

Hi DIS pub crawlers. Figured I should follow up on the pub crawl plans since I am the official (yet unqualified!) pub crawl organizer.

I've given a lot of thought  to what we should do for the pub crawl when there are so many bars and so little time! :rotfl: And my thought is that we should establish an initial meeting time at ONE pub and then move on to different pubs as we see fit. Or as we are fit to do. :lmao:

I suggest we start at 2:30pm at The Rum Barrel and proceed in the numbered order below, and finish up by 5:30pm

I am attending the Pirate Soul museum with my family at 12:30 which is why I suggest a 2:30 meeting time. That will give everyone enough time to debark the ship and do a little shopping or have lunch or whatever before the crawl starts, because I have a feeling after visiting all these pubs we won't be walking a straight line! :lmao:

If you have to leave during the crawl that's A-OK. I think we should keep it open for those who want to stay or skip a bar or catch up at the next bar.

I made excellent use of technology :woohoo: and mapped out the locations of the top bars we are interested in. Here is a map for your viewing pleasure:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?f=q&...76,-81.800294&spn=0.009719,0.017231&z=16&om=1

The majority of the pubs fall into a generally close range which is fantastic. Those bars are:

1. The Rum Barrel *start here 2:30pm*
http://www.piratesoul.com/rumbarrel/

2. Fat Tuesday
http://www.fattuesdaykeywest.com/

3. Irish Kevin's
http://www.irishkevins.com/

4. Sloppy Joe's
http://www.sloppyjoes.com/

5. Capt. Tony's Saloon
http://www.capttonyssaloon.com/

6. Hog's Breath Saloon
http://www.hogsbreath.com/key-west/

Check them out at the web sites listed above. There are two pubs that are fairly out of the way and I suggest we skip them unless you feel like making the trek. The two we should skip are:

Turtle Kraals
Margaritaville (I am told by a reliable source that ironically this place doesn't have good bar space)

I can probably bring printed versions of this map on the day of the crawl so we can keep track of the route as we become fuzzier. ;)

I'm not sure how many of you out there are committed to doing part or all of the crawl, so that would be helpful to know. Please PRIVATE MESSAGE me if you plan on attending and meeting at the first stop The Rum Barrel.

That's all for now peeps! I'm looking forward to our Key West adventure!

You're skipping our 2 favorite bars! :confused3 Looks like you're schedule is pretty full, though.

I don't think we will be onboard for the crawl, but if anyone will be stopping into Turtle Kraals (the BEST Key Lime margaritas, martinis, and all around best atmosphere) or Margaritaville, we'll be there!

Stina,

Not sure how to PM so...Bob and I will definitely be crawling but may get a head start on the 2:30 time frame.

I am going to try and figure out how tomorrow, but i plan on putting a picture up of my family and I. I hope the rest of you will follow suit so we can try and recognize each other on our way in. I would hate to be mean to somebody, i mean, express my feelings, when it is someone i have been talking to for months!!!

We're almost there folks!!!!!:hourglass

Though we are going on to the Butterfly farm I will have to take my DP to Margaritaville or she might not let me back into the Cabin.
17 days and I am just now starting to gather things to pack and make list of things to get to pack. Off to see taht my shorts still fit.. and gather all parts to my pirate clothes...

:goodvibes
That is good. That is why I put one of ours up. I might change it due to the darkness of it.

Looking forward to seeing everyone. Hopefully most everyone will come up to the Mickey Pool drink station side for that first meet at 3 PM on 9/8. We will have to go about 345 to get ready for the drill. Rememner Ladyemmaann and I have the leis. The are 1 dollar. Another reason to bring some cash. Yet another reason is if you ordered braclets, Baracuda will have them. I believe they we 1.50 each.

So far the computer is holding out. I am keeping my fingers crossed that that it last lets say another 3 or 4 years so I can continue to cruise.

10 days and counting

fltink...my reliable source for skipping Margaritaville was your husband! He's the one who suggested it wouldn't work well for a crawl, that's why I skipped it. Also as you can see from the map those two are not as conveniently located inside the range of the other bars, but I'm not ruling them out which is why I marked them on the map anyway. I will probably go by Margaritaville at some point during the day to re-up on my Margaritaville tshirts... you know how i  love the one i have now!

All the other bars I added to the list aren't necessarily my personal selection but were suggestions from other people that i solicited a while ago. So hopefully this list works for people, (this is what's hard about organizing!) so let me know!

thanks,
stina :wave2:
