09/05/09 LABORless MAGICal Meanderers

Ohhhhhhhhh, yeah I was doing a booking for 2. If I were you, I'd book separately and then just ask to be seated together when you get there (or call ahead to let them know you prefer to sit together so they keep the tables 'open' for you).

Can I do that? If I book for two will I have to have our friends book for two? Or Can I book two tables of two for each of our reservations? Does that make sense? We are on two different reservations, but we are linked. So I am able to book all four of us, but I didn't know if I could do them with two and us with two.
I will do it if Palo will not get upset about it. I do not want to break rules or make them upset.

ETA: Sorry I have taken a while to reply. We have been out of town.

Sabrina, DD8, earned her BLACK BELT in taekwondo today.

One more thing to celebrate party:

Booked the royal swim! Disney Minnie, the 5 of us are swimming with your DH and DS!! :yay: It will be great to 'know' other people in our group:goodvibes

Hopefully these girls can hang out with your DS, I am a bit worried about DD9 going to the clubs. I know the older girls will have each other in the clubs, but the little one lost her cruise buddy early on when her mom got PG!! Anybody remember early in our planning? One of my BFF's was in the cabin beside me with her family, but had to cancel because she will be welcoming her new baby soon:) Well, she is missing the 12 week previous mark this weekend! She is about to pop, but not in time for baby to be old enough to cruise!

Now it is time to plan our day at GC. Still haven't decided who we are going with for Stingray City.

Anyway,
We are all so excited about cruising! DD11 has been working like crazy on our door magnets, now on to our FE and FE gifts:dance3:

My DD8, Sabrina, will be in the Oceaneers Lab too. She spent some time there and some in the Club last trip when she was 6. She was very happy with both. At 4 and 5 she was fine solo in the Club. Everyone is friendly and there is lots to do. I'm sure she'd love to meet your DD... maybe exchange photos here (or via email) before.

What type of things is DD11 making? I have no idea what kind of things are done for FE Gifts.

this is our first cruise and wdw enabler is being thrifty. any suggestions for shore excursions suitable for a family with a 4 year old. i have been looking at
Cozumels tours by Johann and Sandra but looking for other ideas and suggestions.

Disney minnie...wow..you are a good secret keeper! I can't even keep a secret when I am 'thinking' about planning something! Well, he will have built in friends that already know about him, before he even knew he was going, lol:cheer2:

:wave:Hey LiseG! Brooke (DD9) will love to meet Sabrina:goodvibes
She said as long as she doesn't whip her, lol! Congrats to her on the black belt! That is awesome! My girls said, "she's only 8?" !!!! and a black belt? wow!! Well, I had a green belt when I was in high school. But, that has been a loooong time ago.
DD11 (Payton) has been making designs for our door, just searching through this site. We found a really cute princess one with them making funny faces. Since this is an all girls trip, we are using this as our 'girls just wanna have fun' theme. I will print this and iron on t-shirts and make magnets for our door. We found someone on this site (taekwondo mom)---that custom makes mickey heads with your name and character to print on magnet paper, or iron-ons. We just asked, and she was so gracious to do these!! kudos to her!!

We have been scouring the site over the last week, trying to decide on FE gifts. We have looked in Oriental Trading and will proabably do several 'little' gifts....Some, for example, we are considering are....personalized pencils, pirate rubber duckies, glow necklaces, tattoos, candy bags, etc. It's not the 'how much' that matters...it will be neat to see the variety of surprises! We live at the beach, so we will probably also do something coastal....
this thread has great info on FE's and gifts...
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607&page=4

we also have become very inspired to make our own FE...fun craft for the kids to pass the time:yay:
I sure hope we get more to join in, it will be fun to give and receive!

WDW enabler...we are planning on walking around in Key West...this looks like a good port to save our money...on Castway Cay, we spent $0 the first time, and about $20 the 2nd time..this is an excursion in itself. We rented the paddle boats and floats the 2nd time, and that was entertainment enough for us:)
I am not booking with DCL at the other ports to save a bit (a lot), but taking my chances that we 'get' there, lol.
We stayed on the ship both times we were in Nassau, and had plenty to do....and run of the ship! Good luck! Happy planning, everyone!

I don't think you can book for them if they are not CC members, but if they are for sure they can book on their own and then when you get there just ask to be seated. That's not breaking the rules! I tried to get my in-laws on the ressie with us just so they have it in case they can't get their own at 75 days out but I couldn't, I think because they're not CC members. So they're on their own!! Otherwise, it's definitely not breaking the rules. I've never tried it but I've read it on the board (on the ship and at WDW) and people never seem to have a problem so why not give it a shot?

No worries about timing, as long as you reply before Sept 3rd I'll see it! :lmao:

My brother spent a week in Cozumel and they went to Chankanaab Park 2x without swimming with the dolphins and had a blast both times. He said it's beautiful and very relaxing. Park admission is $16 per adult and $8 for kids and it'll probably cost you another $10 or so (both ways) for the taxi. Sorry, I haven't really looked at anything else in Cozumel because we're planning on the dolphin thing. Which, by the way if you do want to do it, kids under 5 are free with a paying adult.

They are CC members. This is our second cruise with them. So I really need to tell them to log in when I do to make sure that we both see an 8 PM showing. I wouldn't want to be able to get one and them not get one too.
Thanks! I will call her after she gets off of work today and see what we can do! :thumbsup2

Just wanted to check in and say hello to everyone again. Not long now! Less than 3 months away!!!

We are really getting excited over here, but also don't want the time to fly by to quick cause that means our summer break is over and back to work / school. Enjoying the anticipation at this point. ;)

Hi Everyone,
My family will be on the Disney Magic for the first time Sept. 5th. We are looking forward to meeting all of you. It is me, my husband, my son (14) and my daughter (11). We definitely want to join in on the Fish Extenders. My husband and son are scuba diving in Grand Cayman and I will be horseback riding with my daughter. Any suggestions on booking those two excursions would be great.

Isn't the 75 day mark this weekend for first timers to register online? I'm going to have to log in for my in-laws and register them. I'm faster on the PC, and my PC is faster too! Is it the 20th or 21st?

:headache: I didn't even think to check the calendar. OK, looks like they'll need to stay up on their own to make ressies if it's on a Sun night! :surfweb:

ibela...oh, yeah, monday starts at midnight on sunday..how did I forget that? lol....I had to take cold meds on our 90 day mark, and had to FIGHT my eyelids to stay awake till 11 (central)...but I made it:)

OK..I would like to head up orders for custom lime green bracelets (silicone) for our cruise....unless anyone else would like to head it, :goodvibes

I picked the following up by reading trip reports, and it seems to be pretty easy..here goes, I'll cut and paste the plan....

Hi there! As Lynsey said, I took orders for the bracelets up to the deadline date (I think, 3 weeks before the cruise???). I ordered from http://www.theawristocrat.com/. I was able to do a custom order of "X" number of adult bands & "X" number of youth bands. i think in the end I ordered 123 total. I was able to choose my color, font (waltograph), and what i wanted them to say. Ours said DIS Key Lime Pie-Rates & May 16th, 2009, I think. They were laser cut on both sides. It is a bit hard to see the writing, but we knew it was there! Oh, and they glowed in the dark too for an extra $0.05!!! I think in the end they worked out to be $1.15 each.

Most people paid by paypal or sent me a check. Some paid me in cash on the ship. What I did was place each DISers name & amount they ordered on the envelope & put their bands in it. This made life a ton easier for us when it came to handing them out. Our first unofficial meet on the 16th was at 10am-ish in the terminal. As Lynsey mentioned in her Trip Report, lots of us found each other there. So we handed lot out then. The rest were handed out at our 1st official meet, at 3pm. Anyone who had not picked up their brands yet, could find them in the bottom pocket of our FE outside our door (most people picked theirs up while handing out FE gifts). We only had about 4 envelopes that had not been claimed yet, and slowly during the week they disappeared.

A couple tips:
* If you order from them, call. They are super flexible and fast. They even let me add to the order after the order had been placed for the same price.
* Check their website & sign up for the club/email. This will get you a 10% coupon to use. That was great cause it helped us all save.
* Youth bands are still a bit big on kids and fit my small adult wrist with room to spare, so if you have lots of little ones you may want to check into smaller options they have & if you have women with small wrists, they will want the youth.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Oh, and I think shipping was free from them too!

OK...how about Disney 'Magical' Cruise
September 5-12, 2009

lime green glow in the dark, of course:) for those that are new, lime green is the official color for the 'DIS' (disboards addicts, lol) ..this is a totally generic saying..so if anyone has any other ideas...please share (up to 25 characters per side)..for about 18cents more each(if we order 100+) we can add a color for the writing so it will show up.... the more we purchase, the less the cost, so I hope everyone signs up:cheer2: and paypal is fine, I use it all the time....

I would love to have these...it will make so much easier to spot us crazies, lol:yay:

I think that's a great idea! I'd love to have them too, and thank you for offering to manage this! I can't believe we totally forgot to "name" our cruise. I'm going to think about this. . .

On my first cruise we wore magnet lime green mickey heads on our lanyards! It was a surprise gift from one of the DISers, he ended up making us the magnet lime green heads for our doors because we didn't "get" how to do it. I still don't . . .:headache:

How'd it go?

:headache: frustrating! :confused3
When they logged on to the Palo reservation link, NOTHING showed available to them! Brunch, tea, and dinners all were showing booked!!!!!!!!!! I had a whole long list of times showing available when I looked at my computer at the same time. (We were on the phone together. I walked them through it as I was on my computer.) They said their computer showed NOTHING!!!!!!!!!! :confused3:confused3:confused3 We are going to Niagra Falls with them tomorrow. I plan to get DH's laptop out and have them check while I watch in case they are doing something wrong. I do not want to give up the reservation for all 4 of us unless I see that they can do it for two also.
I can't help but wonder if they are not really doing it correctly. I am the one that does all of the planning, booking, etc. when we do our trips so they have never done any of the booking before.

The bracelets sound good to me. We will take 3 - 2 adult and 1 youth. We would also like to participate in the Fish Extenders.

Hello, fellow cruise mates!
My-it's been a while since I last checked in here, and a lot has been going on since then!!:)

First of all-:welcome:Welcome to all those who are joining us! It looks like the Magic is going to be full of DIS'ers, and I'm excited about that!!

queenof2princesses-I think the bracelet thing is an AWESOME idea! The DH and I would definitely be up for it. I'm going to ask my DSIL and DNiece if they want to participate as well. I'm not sure if they will want to or not, but I'm going to ask anyway! Thank you for volunteering to head this up!:grouphug:

I can't believe how close we are getting 'til cruise time! I'm waiting until my DSIL and DN can make their ressies to make ours, which will be Monday. I checked yesterday, and all our choices are still available, so I think we'll be good! We're not doing anything at Palo, so I don't have to worry about that. I sure hope that everyone else is able to get what they want though. I am thinking about trying to get an appt. in the Salon for formal night-but I have to wait until we get onboard to make that, correct?

Also, I do have one more question--I think the idea of getting a DIS group photo had been mentioned before, but I just wanted to check and see if that was still happening or not. I think it's a great idea, but I wasn't sure if everyone was still "onboard" with the idea. I know that everyone's schedule is probably going to be full once we're on the ship, but I think it would be a great memory if everyone could get together for a quick photo!

we made a fish extender and did not quite fit what we wanted and would like to offer it to anyone who is interested in it. there are three pockets and currently no personalizations. Please post or message us if you are interested in it. We will bring it to the meet and great for the cruise. this is free and would hate for it to go to waste.

I think the bracelets would be a great idea and we have 2 adults and 1 child. just let us know. :thumbsup2
