09/05/09 LABORless MAGICal Meanderers

This may be the saddest post I have ever written. I am bowing out of this cruise meet thread as I have switched our cruise date to two weeks later (Sept19-26 still aboard the Magic) in order to 1) appease the 17 year old birthday boy who did not think a cruise was a great way to spend his birthday (silly boy) and 2) I saved $400 by going two weeks later (I sound like a Gieko commercial or something but every $$$ helps).

I will soooo miss you all. I really enjoyed my time here and will probably pop in to check up on you all! Missy, I will definitely be following that trippie. And Ibela, give that Asher a snuggle for me, and aussieinvation, best wishes with your new TA venture!

oh and smilingmouse, thank you so much for the lanyard offer, I am certain someone else will come along to appreciate your generous heart.

The other cruise meet thread seems so big but I am gonna try and dive into it.

Happy Sailing All, Kim

Awww, we'll miss you on the thread and on the boat but hey, you're still going with your family so that's what matters most. If you said you had to cancel your trip, THAT'D be a sad post.

Have a wonderful cruise (and don't forget to change your ticker).

I'm just getting back from WDW and I had the BEST time. I went with a friend to run the Princess Half Marathon and it was truly the most relaxing "magical" trip. Everything was easy breezy. I even went to Downtown Disney to buy "treats" for the cruise and all toys were 35% off! I actually found some bargains at Disney World. I decided to buy my children buckets and fill them with special treats instead ordering something and having it delivered to the stateroom. I don't know about you, but we have enough junk! Anyway, I bought Preston a Mickey pirate and Wilson the Minnie. They are stuffed animals about 8 inches tall and I paid $5 each (normally $13.95). I also bought Wilson Cinderella's castle, normally $75.00, for around $44 after 35% off and Disney Visa 10%. I'm planning for Santa to give this to her for Christmas. Yes, I'm a planner!

On to the cruise... I have ordered my fish extender and booked a Stingray City trip in Grand Cayman. I would love to book the dolphin experience in Cozumel, but if we don't show up I will only get a voucher and I would obviously rather get my money back. (I am booking these on my own since Disney won't allow Wilson to go) I may just book it on the internet while we are on the boat.

Hey disney minnie, I am very interested in which trip you went for. I am having the same drama about Amelia who turns 3 on the day we are in Cozumel and cant seem to book much on the DCL site. I was considering NativeWayWatersports. I would love love love to know all of the details pretty please:upsidedow

You sure picked up some great bargains! Good on you for taking full advantage of those while they were on sale.

Kileybeth we will miss you :grouphug: I've really enjoyed chatting to you and Im so glad to hear that you are still going even if its not with us. In this economy you cant argue with saving that sort of money. Im sure I'll catch up with you on Missy's pre-trippie or along the way somewhere. All the best and I hope you and your family have a wonderful time:goodvibes

Did anyone see the published Magical Rates on the Disboards homepage for our sailing? I am in the process of emailing Dreams Unlimited to see if I can receive a better rate - very exciting:dance3:

Hope everyone is well. I went shopping yesterday for some Diamonte jewellry (the fake stuff of course haha) to wear with my formal outfit. I am just wearing a black halterneck dress but I figure with the right jewellry I will be able to wear this dress on both the formal and semi-formal night and I dont want to pack any more than I have to.

Speaking of formal, cruiselineformal.com never confirmed Jay's tux I just realised. I guess I'll need to call them to see what is going on. Looks like a late night for me so I can call during the morning over there:surfweb:

Well I found out this is only for Category 11's. So anyone out there who is booked on one I would call to see if you can get a better rate :thumbsup2

Thanks disney minnie for the info. Can you tell me the departure time? I am conscious about leaving lunchtime free for DH being that he is a diabetic and needs to eat at a certain time or it is not good:sad2:

The trip is from 10-1. They drinks, but not food. Since my children are hungry five minutes after they eat a meal, we will be bringing snacks.

We were watching the Disney Cruise show that was on the travel channel yesterday and my husband, the one that really wants to keep the trip a secret, asked me in front of our son, "Which one is ours?" He was asking which boat are we sailing on. Luckily he didn't say "boat" and it went right over our son's head. It's going to be hard to keep this a secret!!!:lovestruc

Awwww, I'm sad that you aren't going to be on our cruise:sad2: , but I'm happy that you're still going. I agree with everyone else, if you had told us that you weren't going at all-now, that would be a sad post!:scared:

I can't even imagine how hard it would be to keep a secret like that! Good thing your DH asked the question like he did!!:scared1:

As I said in an earlier post, I have ordered a fish extender, but since I haven't seen a lot of talk about this I wanted to make sure the we were exchanging. Let me know.

Don’t forget about military rates too! DPapa is a military retiree and we saved money off our fare and moved up from a cat 12 to a cat 11.

I am sooooooooooo sorry for letting life get in the way. I have been a busy worker bee trying to focus on career and life:goodvibes so that I can spend time later with the mouse:cool1: Anyway, I don't know how long it has been since I posted. But, if you don't remember...it is me, mom, and 2 DD's, 11 and 9 at cruise time...We have celebrated the '5th' of every month since we booked!! This last one was very exciting:) Only 5 months 3 weeks now! I have to add my trip insurance. We just booked 2 nights at the end of cruise at Contemporary, I am still trippin on spending that much...but we only have 2 days at the end, and DD11 will turn 12 the day we disembark. My BFF Kristi had to bow out...shame , what a shame..her newborn will not be 12 weeks by 9/5! She even asked OB when the earliest she could induce, I figured her latest possible dob....lol!!! She will only be 37and a half weeks, doc said no no....anyway, I have added another family of 4 to travel with us. another 'young' couple (30's), their DS is 14 I think and DD is 11.. I can't wait!!!

I asked to be induced at 40 weeks (I figured I was already at the hospital for false labor) and my dr still said no! :upsidedow

Good luck to your friend and welcome to your new group!

just sneakin' back over to say Hi and miss you all! I loved that idea about celebrating the day of the month each month leading up to cruise! FUN!

still counting down, just two weeks behind all of you! Take care of the Magic for my family! I'll be feasting on your trip reports and such the week between your return and our departure!

Hi all,

Hi queenof2princesses , great to 'see' you:) I know what you mean about life getting in the way, Im not on here as nearly as much as I would like:goodvibes Shame about your BFF, but great you have some others coming along too!

I agree with Kileybeth, what a great idea to celebrate the day each month:cool1:

Well after spending an absolute fortune in December on our airfares to get over there , there have been amazing deals that have been released. $750 to Orlando!! We paid over $2500 each!! You can imagine I am a little upset about it but you can just never tell with flight prices:sad2: Im hoping something good like free dining will be out soon for our pre cruise accommodation, that should cheer me up:thumbsup2

That's a major bummer!!! We just had to buy a ticket for our son to fly to camp. We thought it was a good deal and definately better than the cost to drive him. Then we saw the small print... since he is flying by himself (a nonstop 1 hour flight) they charge $100 each way. I don't know about anyone else, but that seems like a lot to me. On top of that we still have to pay for his baggage. So much for a bargain.

Still wondering if we are exchanging FE treats?

Hi disney minnie and smilingmouse,

In regards to the FE, a few people were unaware (myself included) of what they were originally and what is entailed and some have expressed that they do not intend to do FE's. As such, my family have also made the decision not to do so. By all means go for it but we apologetically will not be taking part this time. No disrespect meant here to anyone who would like to participate.

In saying that, I have thought of a couple of goodies to hand out from here Down Under once we all meet up. :goodvibes

Sad to hear that, but I completely understand. Anyone else that is lurking out there and has an interest in joining us...we'd love to have you join in. If not, smiling mouse will get a bigger surprise!:thumbsup2

Ok everyone, our plans have changed again! I think this will be the end of the major changes.

We are leaving on Thursday morning and driving to WDW to stay on property thanks to the 40% off coupon. Thursday night we will eat at Wolgang Puck Express and then go to Disney Quest. Friday we are taking the kids to Sea World for the day. My husband has been asking to do this for awhile and it never fit in my Disney plans. The park closes at 9:00 so sometime before 9 we will head to Port Canaveral for the night.

We are still not telling the children that we are doing any of this. Each day will be a new surprise. If anyone has any great ways to surprise them I would love to hear your ideas. At this point I was thinking of getting a treasure box and have clues that lead to the days fun. Still just thinking...and waiting for the magic to hit me.:wizard:
