08 was so Great at the Poly...TR-NEW 2/3 Time to say Good-bye (final post) / pics

Thanks for the bump Amy (NH)....wish I could say I was sitting around (or sitting here) doing that popcorn::

You know the after a trip deal....clean, up, :laundy: all that real life stuff!

It's been a busy 2-days...and I figure after putzing around w/ my PhotoPass stuff for over an hour (or was it more:scared: ) I'd better get off this :surfweb: and finish cleaning up before DH is home from work....

Need to get a few more ducks in a row around here tomorrow for my church nursery responsibilities (hopefully DH can fix the TV!) and then I hope to get a post up and running on Thursday, as Friday...the twins get to have a play date in the afternoon...so it's a scrap-noon for MOM:banana:

Hang in there....I'm coming back!

J-

I hope we can see some of you pages when you are done? I have been working on my trip book and have about 10 pages done:banana:  its a very small dent but its a start!

I finally got the rest of my prints in the mail today so I can sort it all out and go from there.

I need to stop neglecting my TR too.

Can't wait to read more of yours!

Great report so far. I really got a kick out off all the photos at the airport and on the way to WDW, especially the palm tree. And the Stepsisters are such a hoot. Sounds like your kids had fun meeting them.

The scrapbook could be a whole other TR in the making....:rotfl: 10 pgs already? You GO GIRL! yes I will share some when I get there.

Hi and :welcome: Meeko! thanks for having fun w/ me and my pictures....seriously living in the midwest, palm trees are something to get excited about!

Finishing Day 1) NEXT!!!!

J-

Ok, so when I last left off it was about 7:00 pm and we were back at our room after the little “Princess Picture Session” outside.

Now If I was a wise Mama, I would have said, Ok I think we are just gonna have to drop the night’s plan…let’s go to the pool. Right?:confused3

WRONG! I was a crazy Disney “we are finally here” Mama…and we pushed ahead!

So after the girls were changed we headed over to the TTC to catch a bus. Here are some lovely pictures of us on our way:

100_1515.jpg

100_1516.jpg

100_1517.jpg

100_1519.jpg

100_1520-1.jpg

We get over there, probably not the fastest of routes (but now we know) to discover, you can’t go directly to DTD (YEP! that’s where we are going) from the TTC. You have to take a bus from the resort. Doh!:headache:

So we briskfully walk back to the Poly bus stop, to find the DTD bus pulling right up. Great timing.

Time check: a little after 8:00 pm now, and we are on our way after a quick stop at the GF too. We get dropped off about 8:30 pm and it’s getting dark now.

We have a quick conversation about that it is late, we don’t have time to go everywhere and let’s stick to our souvenir idea cards so we don’t go crazy…yea right:rolleyes1 . We beeline thru the thickening crowds toward the World of Disney Store…

100_2679.jpg

(our idea cards...see a trend in the index cards?)

100_2682.jpg

100_1523.jpg

100_1524.jpg

And as we get inside, we entered the “BOY-ROOM”. Hey I don’t remember all of this:

100_1525.jpg

So onward we began our quest thru the World of Disney or should I say World of Sardines…not that it was smelly, but crowded.

So onto the must list to start:

Hats for Michael and Aldine (didn’t bring any from home, and why not get a new Disney one for while we are here, the old ones don’t fit anymore anyways)

Check & Check

100_2731.jpg

Michael and Aldine also had some Disney $ they received from their birthday to use.

Michael got a Simba stuffed animal, a goofy magnet, and a Sorcerer Mickey & Villains playset to start (I put in a little too)

100_2732.jpg

Aldine got a HSM Mickey plush, and Belle dress notepad to start.

100_2734.jpg

Also on the list was DMom buying the 3 kids pin lanyards and 2 pins to start. (in the picture are all the pins they got from her over the course of the trip, plus some from our 05 trip)

100_2735.jpg

and there was even more shopping:

I got a WDW backsack, a green reusable Mickey Mouse tote. For Mae we bought a Baby Minnie Plush, a Peter Pan Playset, a set of those “growing” princess washcloths and a bag of 3 mini figures (which I think after we got home we didn’t actually get charged for…whoops:upsidedow )

100_2736.jpg

For Margaret, DH found the cutest pink Disney Princess Hat, a set of squeezy Mickey Mouse & friends, and I found (on sale) a Disney Princess cloth bib. Plus DH picked out a PoC puzzle in a bottle for him to do w/ Michael.

100_2737.jpg

So all that was nicely paid for w/ my DRC YEAH! It was a lot as you can guess.

Plus DMom bought some didies for herself and a bracelet each for the girls, plus a pen for Mae.

Time Check: it was almost 9:30 now. Whew, we were in there 1 hour, yikes! It was late and we had an early morning to start for tomorrow, plus Michael was quickly becoming toast for the night. So we decided, besides only going to one store we really needed to leave!

Side track….DH had a cankering for salt water taffy, so we made a small stop in Goofy’s Candy Co. trying hard not to be tempted by ALL the sweets! DMom grabbed a bag of jellybeans to for my DDad (his favorite).

So then it was back out, sadly disappointed we didn’t get to a few other places and hoped we could squeeze in another time to come back.

We get back to the bus stop and it was pretty crowded all around. And we waited….and waited….and waited even some more. It was probably well after 10:00 pm by the time the bus did arrive and we were on our way back.

It was pretty chilly when we first boarded the bus, but I knew eventually our bodies would get used to the temp shock. I laid Margaret against my chest and covered her w/ her blanket. She seemed content to rest, which I was glad.

Then some lady YELLS at the driver “ It’s freezing in here! Can’t you turn down!” something, something mumbled under her breath….

Well first we stop at CR and already it was feeling steamy, and Margaret was becoming quite restless, and after the lights go on and then back off, well that was that, I had to hold with all my might as she screamed the whole way to the Poly, and I was sweating between the bus now being HOT! (thanks lady) and my very upset, hot & tired baby.:scared:

We get off the bus, and just out of instinct I turn back to make sure everyone has everything (this time) and we did, but I noticed some young man on the bus still waving a hat in his hand. I yell (nicely) at DH to run back to the bus, get that hat, I think it belongs to the little girl up ahead who just got off the bus w/ us. And sure enough it did…the girl and her Grandma were so appreciative, it made me feel good, especially after we lost something and the icky bus drive.:goodvibes

Please note: This was the ONLY icky bus drive or travel experience we had…..the whole week.

So we are back in the room and do quick clean up’s of the kids and get them to bed. Then I finish organizing some more room things and our stuff for Friday and finally hit the hay by midnight….tired!:faint:

Up Next Day 2) Doing the Green Thing w/ the Animals!

Great update! DTD is awesome! You guys got a ton of loot. That's a great idea though - we usually save it until closer to the end, but if you go at the beginning you have stuff for the kids to play with at the hotel. Good plan! :thumbsup2

We had that same thing happen on a bus in 2005. It's gets hot really fast....I don't know why the bus drivers turn off the AC when the bus is full :confused3 .

I always go to DTD in the morning....so much easier to get around.

Great TR! I looooooove the Polynesian, so it's really fun to see all your pics of the tropical greenery and the tiki torches! Your DD's were so cute in their princess outfits...especially Baby Tink! :cutie: Can't wait for the next update!

fun report! Its amazing to me how CROWDED DTD gets at night. I guess everyone else has the same ideas, but that means the parks have to be empty, right?:lmao:

If only that were the case.

that stinks that you had a hot bus. We learned that same lesson about the TTD and DTD bus. We missed our SOG bus to DTD so went to the TTC only to find we had to hoof it over to the poly to catch their bus. You would THINK they would have a LIST POSTED at the TTC the info booth lady there was SOOOO not helpful when we were there.

Luv the TR............TFS

Hi and :welcome: to the fun! thanks for the love too!

They did play w/ the toys...I took them out of the boxes and it did save us some boredom moments, plus some new friends to sleep w/

Wow! I love the wedding photo. That's awesome that you got to wear such an old dress. Is your grandmother still alive? Did she get to see you wear the dress?

Yes, she still is alive, we'll be celebrating her 80th birthday next month. My Grandpa was still alive then we when got married too. It was truly special, maybe someday 1 of my 3 DDs would want to wear the dress too....

and here is a picture of DH & I last Sunday on our anniversary:

The Green 7 take on the Heat and Animal Kingdom!!!!

AHHHAHHH…….AHHH…..AHHHAHHHH!!!!! (think Tarzan call)

Ok so it’s now (finally) Day 2) in the world of Julie’s TR and my family & I are off to trek thru the African safari in search of a Yeti ….and maybe a little shade or the cool waters under the sea w/ Nemo….

First I have to mention 2 side-notes:

1) I used TGM to basically plan out my touring days and decided on AK for Day 2) based on NO EMH in the morning and it was a “green” day. OK? Sounds good right? and it seemed to flow w/ my plan of doing the bus parks (those we need to travel by bus to) first, since we don’t really want to stop and break w/ bus transpo w/ these parks….

Well we’re at WDW back on Day 1) and I’m reading thru the times guide for the first few days of our trip for all the parks when I read….morning EMH at AK on Friday June 6th!

What!

Did I go wrong, did I not read the info right from TGM….who knows at this point because even when we got home I doubled checked and the EMH was listed, w/ AK not a green day….

Would this prove to be a major plunder before we even begin?:confused3

2) Remember the “dress-code” cards…well today is “Green-day” why not of course…in the jungles of AK! And well isn’t it fitting that 3 of the 5 gals all were wearing Tinkerbell shirts…only at Disney right? And hey isn’t green the unofficial color of these Disboards?

So now to the morning…..

I was up before 6:00 am (now this is just not so at home) and out of bed at 6:20 am. I turned off the alarm (for 6:30 and Michael’s medicine) and headed to the bathroom. I then aroused DH and finished washing up. As the kids were all getting up now, DMom & I went down to Captain Cook’s and picked up a few breakfast diddies (juice, milk, & fresh fruit…the first of many $1.00+ bananas) Back in the room we used MM plate lids as bowls for cereal that I brought from home and everyone quickly ate, got dressed and washed up.

We headed over to the TTC to catch a direct bus before 9:00 am…a little later than I hoped, but still good.
I don’t know when we exactly arrived, but there were a lot of people heading in, at the turnstiles and security check-points…I was slightly worried.

100_1527.jpg

I took Michael w/ me to Guest Services to obtain a GAC for our time at the World.

***Please note, I will not mention exactly what we obtained it for (beyond you know he lives w/ ADHD & Aspergers a form of Autism) or how often and which attractions we used it for/on, but to say thank you to the Disboards for doing an excellent job in describing this blessing for children like mine and that our trip could not have been as enjoyable or successful w/out it. We ran into no real problems using it throughout the parks from CM’s or guests. If you are curious what I’m talking about or want to know more specifics feel free to PM me. Thanks!***

After that we met up on the other side of the turnstiles and then made our way up thru the Oasis and toward Dinoland.

And we knew and felt already that the heat was going to be a MAJOR factor today…DMom & I headed toward Asia to ride EE while DH took the kids into Dinoland to the Boneyard. Turns out Mom & I could have walked into Dinoland and taken the bridge across to Asia and saved some steps oh well….

100_1545.jpg

100_1530.jpg

Anyhow, Mom & I get to EE and the standby line said 20 minutes, w/ a FP return time well after 10:00 am. We double-checked the time w/ the CM by the line and he thought maybe a little less. So we thought let’s go for it.

100_1531.jpg

100_1532.jpg

Our wait in the line took really no time and it was like walking thru an exhibit at the Field Museum in downtown Chicago.

100_1533.jpg

We got up to the assigning line

100_1534.jpg

And we received the 2nd row of the front car. COOL!

Now I knew this ride went a little fast, in the dark and backwards, plus a Yeti appeared, but I had no idea how fun it really would be.

It was awesome! EXPEDITION AHHHH!-AWESOME!!!

100_1535.jpg

100_1536.jpg

100_1537.jpg

Almost to the top....I better get the camera put away!!!

After we got off, feeling a bit dizzy, but full of adrenaline, we walked out thru the gift shop (of course) after viewing our picture (sorry didn’t think to try and capture an image)

I wanted to find a name badge saying I survived the EE but they didn’t have “Julie”…bummer. But Mom picked up a Yeti plush magnet for Michael.

So all in all we were in the line, on the ride and off in about 20 minutes. Excellent!

100_1539.jpg

We walked backed over to Dinoland, as I tried reaching DH on his cell, at first I couldn’t get thru, so I went to go look while Mom rested on a bench in the shade. We found each other and then it was his turn to go on a ride. He then headed off to Dinosaur. Now I had thought he’d just come out of the Boneyard w/ the kids to later discover they were only in there a few minutes when 1 kid had to use the bathroom….whoops. We ended up just resting on the bench, and had some water and gave Margaret a snack. The kids found a kidcot station and looked at that for a little bit and we did a few bathroom runs (again) and Michael did some reading. DH got back from his ride about 10:35 am (it probably took about a ½ hr for him.)

100_1542.jpg

Here we are the “green 7”

Then we headed off to Africa

100_1544.jpg

And KS

100_1546.jpg

This attraction again was a less than 20 minute wait we just breezed on thru

100_1548.jpg

We loaded onto our Safari jeep and headed out for our ride. We were all in agreement that we thought we saw more animals along the trail than in 2005, some were right next to the jeep….

100_1550.jpg

now remember to keep your hands, arms, feet, & legs inside the TR for this ride....

100_1554.jpg

100_1555.jpg

100_1559.jpg

100_1564.jpg

100_1566.jpg

We even saw Mr. & Mrs. Simba taking a nap and a real baby Elephant.

100_1568.jpg

Margaret seemed to enjoy the ride and would say “wee” & “whoa” as we went along

100_1551.jpg

After KS we did a little shopping in Africa, Michael had on his must list for souvenirs a stuffed Gorilla. I was hoping he’d find one with the AK imprint on it (like Aldine’s flamingo from 05), we only saw a Webkin one in the stores and opted to wait and look some more, but then to our (really mine) dismay this was the only option. He really liked it, so Grandma bought it for him and since he’s [the gorilla] been home he’s been named “Gump” (and no not as in Forrest Gump.)

We also bought Aldine a new AK water bottle/jug, a wooden whistle and I got a fancy AK postcard from Mom.

We then headed over to FTBQ to get some lunch since it was getting late, almost 12:00 pm now. Where did the time go? So much for lunch by 11:30 am....

100_1585.jpg

The lines were a bit long and I had forgotten or didn’t completely realize the eating was all outside…but DH scored us 2 nice tables under some trees. Despite the long lines, it went quick and equally was our food ready for us. Michael ordered the chicken leg kid meal w/ grapes and jello, while the girls got the hot dog kid meals w/ the same sides. Mom & I split a turkey sandwich and the sides and Matt got a BBQ beef sandwich all on the DDP. Plus we got 2 frozen lemonades for dessert and a side of onion rings as a snack. Though by the time we got to the lemonades they were a bit slushy from the heat…it seemed as if everyone was getting those too. BTW Margaret the 18 mo she had maybe 2 bites of some hotdog from one of the girls meal, a little bun and grapes...yep she likes GRAPES!

100_1576.jpg

100_1584.jpg

Michael said this was the BEST chicken legs he's ever had!:thumbsup2

Here are some shots around our seating area:

100_1583.jpg

100_1581.jpg

100_1579.jpg

100_1580.jpg

It was nice to just sit down and relax a bit, despite not doing a ton yet, we were feeling tired and very hot from the heat. As I judged the times guide, my plan and the current time we had some decisions to make::confused3

Leave for the day and go to the pool and the Poly?

Do some more and catch the FoLK at 3:00pm?

Or rush like crazy over to see the 1:00 pm Nemo show then FolK?

What did we do?

J-

Oh I am so checking all my times again right before we leave! But they do say that a good touring plan will help get you thru even the busiest of days!

glad AK was fun!
I'm :rotfl: :rotfl: at the Field Museum comment. when I was there in January, the Tibet area felt familiar...now I know why (between that and sue, it's like Ak lite).
