Thanks. Yes, people still wonder if this will last! ;) We knew each other less than a month, I was 17 and still in high school, we married on Friday night and he left for VietNam on Sunday. All the cards stacked against us. BUT we met at Disneyland, had our first kiss on the bridge in front of the castle and the MAGIC has remained thru the 40 years.

I LOVE your story! Young love can last. We met when I was 15 & my husband was 17. We have been married 42 years. My husband did not have to go to VietNam, he spent his time at Ft Knox. Those were difficlut times.

Yes, very difficult. DrHug actually went to Ft. Knox when he left on Sunday. That is where the unit formed for VietNam. They then flew to San Francisco and spent a few days there then went by troup ship (:scared1: ) to VietNam. It took about a month and he says that was NOT a fun cruise. No contact while they were at sea also, which was very hard. Letters were dropped at Hawaii and then at the Phillipines, but there were many, many days with no letters to know he was ok. :sad2:

It still makes me so sad to think of those times.
But he cames back and you can enjoy your family and motorhome together, with the ship's horn.

DrHug and I are SO excited about our "find" yesterday! We saw a Disney movie called "Night Crossing" way back in the early 80's and have searched for it for a long time. We even checked at the store on Main Street at DL, they looked in their log and found nothing. No one had even heard of it. We thought it is out of print and gone forever. Well, yesterday at our local little Bi-Mart store there it was on DVD! We bought it and watched it again last night. Loved it again! It is based on a true story of two East German families (back in the day of the Wall) who escape to the West in a hot air balloon. Very exciting, good movie.

Cool :thumbsup2 I remember that movie.

Thanks for making me fell so young! :thumbsup2 My DW and I have only been married for a mere 35 years.

 Yes we are still in love.

All of life adds up to the experience. He would do it again, I would let him do it again.

Youngsters! :rotfl: There is a book that was just published called Project Everlasting. We were interviewed during the research for the project, but did not make the cut of getting "in the book" because we were still youngsters at the time and had only been married 38 years. :sad2: All the "Marriage Masters" whose stories they used in the book had been married 40 or more years. They did use the collective "marriage wisdom" of all the Marriage Masters they talked with for the overall philosophy of the book. It has been fun to watch these young men grow their project over the past 2 years. It is a good read with lots of wisdom on what makes really successful marriages successful.

Brack and Annette are Marriage Masters even though they have not hit the 40 year mark yet!

:rolleyes1 Hi all.. just checking in to say Hello.. Ive been so busy lately.. I will be back when I can... If you need me, feel free to PM me.. I always log on check my PMs and log off without every checking the threads..

MrsMork: It's been a while since anybody made me feel young! Jim and I will be married 35 years in Dec. The cruise is our anniversary celebration. Jim was never in the service--he registered for the draft (of course), and his number was 365. We met in college, got married fairly young, had our son while we were still in our mid-twenties, and are now young enough to enjoy our granddaughter.

It hasn't always been easy, but we're still together!

It seems there are quite a few of us "young marriages" on this cruise. Just goes to show that the statistics can be beaten! :thumbsup2

My wife and I are on our 9th year, Feb will be 10. We were 23 or so, and had dated for a year, so we're an "old" marriage :)

And speaking of anniversaries.....:rotfl: DrHug just got an email from our sweet DD about a SURPRISE 40th anniversary bash for us. OOPS! She forgot to delete Dad from her email group. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: So, I RSVP'd and told her we would be coming. :rotfl2: She was upset with herself at first, but we have talked and I have assured her that it is FINE not to be a surprise and that we will still be surprised by what "events" they come up with. ;)

MrsMork: That's hilarious! I hope you enjoy the "surprise"! How nice that she is doing that for you.

Lucky you! First Angie with DL and now you are going to WDW again! I am soooooooooooo jealous too! When will you be at WDW? Bill will be there from 9/9 - 9/14 at that pesky Manager Conference. I may try and hide in his suitcase! :lmao: Do you have an AP?

:rotfl: I laughed when I read you RSVP'd to your own "surprise" Anniversary party. I can imagine your DD's face when she read the e-mail. :scared1: I read the prior posts about yours and DrHug's romance story. It brought a smile to my face that your love endured the distance of a war and a crazy time in history. My Father didn't serve overseas during Vietnam but was in the National Guard. My parents were divorced and he had sole custody of us. I remember on his once a month weekends of training, he'd take my sister and I to the Army Post with him. It was fun. I'm not sure if we he was suppose to take us, but no one seemed to mind.

 Congratulations on your upcoming 40th Anniversary!
