Now that everyone knows I have blindingly-pasty skin, I have a related question--does every WOMAN (I will not say everyONE b/c some smart-a$$ will start talking about cross-dressing) wear hose? I have a long dress for formal night with open-toed sandals, and I'd really love not to wear panty hose. Same for my below-the-knee and knee-length dressy dresses...

And in general, no shorts at dinner? Not even the first night? I don't do capris, they look awful on me; I do have a couple of pairs of bermuda-ish ones that are within a couple of inches of capris, just not "in spirit". Kids too? Ds' shorts are all nice khaki sorts, not knit "gym" shorts.
I know we can always go to Topsiders or one of the quick-service places, and we may if there's no "special" reason to get dressed up. It just sounds like work, to make sure everyone's changed by 5:30 or so, when the sun's still out and it's the Caribbean...
If the shoes are open toed and comfortable on my feet then No, I won't wear hose or knee highs.. But I will have painted Toe Nails..
Close toed shoes, yes, depending on the length of my dress or skirt, I will wear pantyhose or knee highs..
I will wear skorts with a Full wrap around piece to dinner.. Not the ones that look like shorts from the back and a skirt from the front.. Mine looks like a skirt..
I do like to "Dress" for dinner.. Since I never get to do it normally I like the feeling of being "Dressed" for special ocassions on the ship..
DS & DH both have suits/jackets/ties and wear them for dinner on Formal and Semi Formal days.. Semi Formal I let DS get away with no jacket..
Normal Cruise casual is usually Kaki typed pants and button down shirts for the Men.. Even when DS was small he wore Button down shirts for dinner..
As for the smaller guys.. I think kaki shorts would be cute..
Oh and I'm another one with very pale fair skin
