I still need to work on my packing list for the trip in December, but now of course I have a regular list and the list of things that we'll keep in the Owners Locker.

It's very confusing.

Pardon the dumb question, but what is an owner's locker?

Well I just found out about the Sleigh Rides at the Wilderness Lodge yesterday. I called the reservation line right away (I guess that's where Emi works?) and they are all sold out!

Us too. :( We called a few days ago and got the same answer.

We had an Eagle Scout come to the door.. Handed us stickers for our windows that tell EMTs our Medical Information is on the Frige.. He is giving them out in town to get his Badge..

Only problem is... it is for SR Citizens  Do I look that old? :guilty:

Jennifer and I were joking recently that it stinks not getting carded for alcohol anymore. :(

It's real quiet on here right now and people will come take me away if I keep talking by myself like this. ;) I will take a break for a bit and jump back on at a later time. Have a great evening/morning everyone! :goodvibes

I just found out that Thanksgiving for my wife's family is at our house this year... as it has been for the past 4 years... I think they like my cooking :)

For the past 4 years, I've fed our 4 families, with 13 adults (some of the kids are college aged and 12 kids. This year, the two oldest nephews have girlfriends, so we'll have 27 people. I cook two turkeys each year, 12-14 pound birds. Last year we did one in the Nesco roaster (Hawaiian flavored), and one on the grill (Homemade BBQ sauce) - they were both delicious. The year before was one in the oven and a maple grilled one on the grill. This year I'm going to have a deep fried one (I haven't done that yet), and am thinking about another BBQ's one - it was the favorite last year.

What's everyone else's plans for Thanksgiving?

I am so glad you guys shared these early Christmas preparations with me. I so started to buy a tree at Home Depot yesterday. We were there to build the Black Pearl at the kids' workshop. Anyway, I didn't buy one and I may have to run to town to pick one up right now.
There's a Christmas tree sitting in the middle of my dining room. It was in a closet, and it's getting packed for our trip so that we have a tree in our tent. My tree for our master suite is fully decorated and waiting in the closet. I can't put it up until we get back, though, because the cats will have dragged it down the stairs by the time we get home. They love all the little sparkley things on it! Everything on the tree is hand made by either me, my DDIL or my DGD and I'd hate to see any of it get damaged. It's all done in white, silver, gold and rose!

Election Vent. Are my tax dollars being wasted for this?? OK, vent over now!
We NEVER get any calls, and I have no idea why not, but I'm really glad about it! And relax, at least here in New Jersey, no tax dollars can be spent (legally, anyway) on campaigns.

That's odd. Around here, they'll take note of an open garage door, and leave a sticker on your door or mailbox. They certainly won't wake us up at 1:30AM about it.
A couple of years ago the police called our house at 4:30 in the morning to tell us the trunk of our silver Toyota was open. We didn't own a silver Toyota or any other kind of car! They never did find out whose car was open!

Oh Suuuuuuuure now that the pirate: was caught, everyone disappears and leaves me here to talk to myself :sad2:
I'm here--but will probably be gone by the time you get home from your meeting.

I believe someone earlier wondered if the others on the ship will be as weird/ strange as us:rotfl2: .
That was me!

gailadams_uk, I would seriously consider taking THIS cruise. We're going to have a blast!

What's everyone else's plans for Thanksgiving?
Up until yesterday, I was planning a nice quiet Thanksgiving here at home, and "The Kids" were going to DDIL's mom's house. However, it seems that plans have changed, and all five of us will be here. Last year we had deep-fried turkey. It was really delicious. DDIL cooked it, and brined it first. It was our first real dinner in this house! She also makes a great sweet potato pie (which may be one of the recipes that I share) and an awesome dessert pizza (another possibility to share).

Did I mention here that we have a new addition to our family? Actually, we have two--Claire and Chili. I came home Friday night from dinner with some friends to discover that, during the course of the day, we had adopted a rabbit (Claire) and a chincilla (Chili)! I really think I live in a zoo! They've been added to our menagerie, which includes three dogs, three cats, two guinea pigs, one hamster, three goldfish and dozens of guppies. We don't even try to count the guppies any more. We started with nine, stopped counting at 36!

And, of course, I'm still sticking to my decision not to get any pirates! So far I've been very lucky. I wonder if I'll get one accidentally at some point?

Well, all I can tell you is I sure ain't cooking! Will probably do what I did last year...order from Boston Market. All you have to do is reheat. It was simple and delicious. Even the turkey breast was super moist and so good. I'm sure DD, DGD's and DS will be joining us. When do adult kids start inviting their parents over?:confused3

We probably won't do much for Thanksgiving unless DH receives another invitation this year from friends at work. My parents were in town last year for Thanksgiving, but we're all meeting at Grandma's for Christmas this year, so we'll be on our own for Thanksgiving. :)

We had a great time - but too short, of course!

Met some fellow pintraders from CA - one is a cast member at Disneyland. She invited us to go behind the Magic Kingdom to shop at the Cast Connection and damaged-goods trailer. So, this morning we followed them and had fun shopping, snapping up a few bargains. They have a whole section with "lost and found" items. I picked up an HP digital camera for $35! :woohoo:

My DS(13) has been wanting a digital camera of his own and really wanted one to take on the cruise. The camera is a little beat up on the outside, but works great. Got a camera case from the same lost and found section for 50cents!

You wouldn't believe all of the sunglasses :cool2: and camera lens caps!

Oh, picked up a few items for pirate: night on the cruise ship, too!

The weather was great - we finally had a "cold" front come through and lower the humidity. The highs were only in the upper 70s, with lows in the 50s AND there was a great breeze. I know those temps don't seem cool to most people, but they are like a taste of heaven after 8 months of hot, sticky, Florida weather :woohoo:

We spotted the Disney Cruise Line buses a few times - made me wish I was on them!

Oh yes, I brine my turkey's before I cook them too. I make sure to buy ones that aren't "pre-brined". The Hawaiian one that I was alluding to earlier was brined in pineapple juice, brown sugar, soy sauce, and a bunch of spices... It was really good. Brining just makes the turkey juicier.

Congratulations on the additions... that's a lot of animals, and work :)

I understand COMPLETELY where you're coming from. I was born 6 weeks premature and that was the last time I was smaller than I was supposed to be. I promised that if I ever had a child that I would NOT let that happen to him/her. My DB had a little girl and from the day she was born he said she can either eat healthy or not at all. If she gets hungry enough, she'll eat it. And because of that she is a GREAT little neice and she enjoys eating chicken and such and she has actually turned down ice cream and cookies. I'M SUCH A PROUD UNCLE AND I'M SOOOO PROUD OF HER!!!

I took the boys "pizza hut" to eat for lunch at school for their B-day and all the kids were MMMMMM and they said they wanted some and I whip out 4 salads and the kids said "where's the pizza" and the teachers were in complete shock that my kids were eating salad for lunch :confused3 My guys favorite after school snack is celery. When we are over at my cousins she will ask them if they want a coke or kool-aid and the say WATER!!!.

I will be having Thanksgiving dinner with friends here in Orlando. One of my brothers goes each year to his wife's family. My other brother is too far for me to drive to, and his home isn't power chair friendly.

But I am looking forward to spending this year with friends here in town esp since will be my first Thanksgiving without my mother. For many years I have always gone to her house for the holiday.

My mother died in August and I still find myself picking up the phone to call her only to remember she isn't there.

To all those that have lost loved ones, and holidays are or can be difficult, my prayers and thoughts go to you too.

A few times my mother came to my house in here Florida for Thanksgiving. We all laugh about one particular year. She bought and brought a Turkey for she and I to have. Ok, sounds nice right? Well it was nice but she brought a 20 pound turkey for two people, and we both only eat white meat. So the dark meat was thrown out and I have turkey left over for a month LOL.

I asked why on earth she bought a 20 pound turkey for just the two of us. She said it was on sale LOL.

So although she isn't here this year I can look back at the times she was, we spent together, and laugh about that 20 pound turkey that was on sale. LOL

Beth, if you need a great vet for the rabbit there is one in Oakhurst, Dr. Doolan. He is the best in the state!! My former boss would schelp from E. Brunswick there. And DH went there for all our rabbits (well, not ours, but ours...DH ran a small animal rescue for a very long time, we had LOTS of bunnies). Dh is also partial to chincillas too, he had one for awhile b4 me. DH knows plenty about bunnies. We currently have 1 dog (we had to put our 5 year old retriever down 1 year ago :( ), 2 kitties, 1 goldfish and 1 beta. Not counting the 4 kids (well...only 3 live here).

Ok the excitement is growing and growing as we are close to under a month before we sail the high seas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my clothes are hanging in one spot and yelling it's time to pack LOL.

before we know it we will be finding Diser's in the terminal!!!!!

Thanks! I'm completely clueless about rabbits and chinchillas, but these two are really cute! They belonged to a military family which is leaving Monday for California and they were afraid that they wouldn't take the cross-country drive very well. Now we just have to explain to the woman who thinks she's coming to take care of three cats and two guinea pigs that the collection now includes Claire and Chili! The rest of the animals all go to DS's mother-in-law and join her "zoo" until we return.
