DH is still plumbing...........washers turned into two new knobs and new spout and now another trip to Home Depot for a new valve. Tell me again, why do we want to be home owners? We learned 29 years ago (when we bought this house) that everything takes twice as long and costs twice as much as we think it will.

Yep, Dennis is still at it. 3 trips to town, still needs a teeny tiny O ring that can't be found here in our little town. I will stop on the way home from work tomorrow and pick one up at the plumbing store. :sad2: He has moved on to the shower now.

In addition to my ususal weekend chores.:laundy: I painted a bit over half of the ceiling in the master bedroom and a bit less than half the walls. I pooped out and will move all the furniture to the painted half in a day or so and start on the other half. :sad2: Never ended.

Yikes! This has been a busy bunch. :)

Work and home life has been crazy lately and we have had family in town so we haven't DISed hardly at all over the last few days. Many pages and many pirates have passed (congrats all!) and I am not even sure where to start to try and catch up. If there a Cliff Notes version somewhere that covers all the goings on over the last few days. ;) Oh well, I guess I gotta just dig in and try and get up to speed. All that aside, it's good to be DISing again. :goodvibes

We have missed you two! :grouphug:

I just found out that Thanksgiving for my wife's family is at our house this year... as it has been for the past 4 years... I think they like my cooking :)

For the past 4 years, I've fed our 4 families, with 13 adults (some of the kids are college aged and 12 kids. This year, the two oldest nephews have girlfriends, so we'll have 27 people. I cook two turkeys each year, 12-14 pound birds. Last year we did one in the Nesco roaster (Hawaiian flavored), and one on the grill (Homemade BBQ sauce) - they were both delicious. The year before was one in the oven and a maple grilled one on the grill. This year I'm going to have a deep fried one (I haven't done that yet), and am thinking about another BBQ's one - it was the favorite last year.

What's everyone else's plans for Thanksgiving?

I made the list for our house. We have 36 confirmed, 45 most likely. I do 2 20 lb turkeys and a ham. Plus 20 lbs of mashed potatoes, buckets of gravy and stuffing. I will make a couple of salads, 4 pumpkin pies, 2 pecan pies and 2 apple pies. Dinner rolls, cranberry sauce (the canned stuff), peas, and candied yams. Pretty traditional. We have had Thanksgiving at our house for years. It is the favorite holiday of most of the kids in our family. The interesting thing is that it is the ONLY holiday that they don't GET anything, but still from the 30 something kids down to the little ones, it is their favorite. We move our furniture out so we can set up tables and do sit down. No buffet. My mom has crocheted tableclothes for me for all the tables so they match. We have mismatched china that I have picked up at yard saled and such over the years. We started small with just 12 of us. They went forth and multiplied!

I will be having Thanksgiving dinner with friends here in Orlando. One of my brothers goes each year to his wife's family. My other brother is too far for me to drive to, and his home isn't power chair friendly.

But I am looking forward to spending this year with friends here in town esp since will be my first Thanksgiving without my mother. For many years I have always gone to her house for the holiday.

My mother died in August and I still find myself picking up the phone to call her only to remember she isn't there.

To all those that have lost loved ones, and holidays are or can be difficult, my prayers and thoughts go to you too.

A few times my mother came to my house in here Florida for Thanksgiving. We all laugh about one particular year. She bought and brought a Turkey for she and I to have. Ok, sounds nice right? Well it was nice but she brought a 20 pound turkey for two people, and we both only eat white meat. So the dark meat was thrown out and I have turkey left over for a month LOL.

I asked why on earth she bought a 20 pound turkey for just the two of us. She said it was on sale LOL.

So although she isn't here this year I can look back at the times she was, we spent together, and laugh about that 20 pound turkey that was on sale. LOL

:grouphug: It is nice that you have those fun memories of your mom.

My mom called tonight and said she does not think she can make it for Thanksgiving this year. :scared1: But, after listening to her I understand and am MORE than ok with it. She is 84 and is going to WDW and on this cruise with us. She lives 2 hours away and coming for Thanksgiving is at least a 3 day tiring ordeal for her. So, she said that she is just afraid that doing a trip here Thanksgiving week and then just one week later going to Florida might just be too much for her. So, I said, yep stay home, I'd much rather have her spend the 2 weeks with us. :thumbsup2 I gotta say though....the kids are NOT going to like this. :scared:

Where is everyone tonight?
:confused3

I'm here. :yay: I just got through modifying our cruise excursions online after watching a wonderful Cowboy game. :cool1: My laptop battery is just about dead so I am going to log off for now. Have a good evening/morning!

 Hi, my dis name is mommyoftwinfants and I am a disney addict which paved the way to becoming DIS addict where I read coastgirls post about a great deal on a cruise which then led me to become obsessed with this thread, and unfortunately the side effects of that are talking to yourself and chasing imaginary pirates

But I do love your countdown timer. I don't really like mine cause it doesn't seem to make sense the way it counts down. But I love seeing the days go by on yours!
