08 DEC 2007 - 7 Day Eastern Magic Part 2

I have a few "dress code" questions! About packing light, are shorts/tank tops/sun dresses fine for day time on the ship? My step mom was telling me that i would need to dress formal on a cruise ship at all times, but that seemed a bit strange to me. It is a vacation after all!
Also, to any other cruise brides or past DCL cruisers: We are going to Palo after our wedding, does this mean I can wear my wedding dress? :bride: It is formal after all!
Thanks for all the help!

Back in "the day" before cruising became so popular and mainstream, one was expected to dress to a certain standard. That's no longer true today.

On sea days, tank tops and shorts are fine. If you plan on eating outside by the pools, a swimsuit and cover up will get you through the entire day.

There's one formal and one semi formal evening - plus Palo. These are fun occasions to dress up. Wear whatever makes you feel dressed up. And on your wedding day, definitely wear your dress! Just don't be surprised when you have folks congratulating you everywhere you go. And the waiters will totally make a fuss over "the newlyweds." I think wearing your dress to Palo would be a great way to "do up" your wedding.

We were originally going to have a big wedding in orlando, but i just couldnt get excited about it. We originally wanted a disney world wedding but it just wasnt in our budget. The great deals (599$:woohoo: ) made us decide to elope and celebrate later. I work better under pressure anyways!

When are you getting married? I don't remember if you already mentioned it. Is it before sailing, or on one of the islands?

Helloemi:

We are all so excited about your wedding, and the DIS ladies of the thread would like to throw a little bridal shower get together for you.

How about around 4pm on a sea day? We could make it a "happy hour" before the first dining seating? I think this is a pretty slow time onboard.

I don't know if we'll all be able to make it at the same time, what with the kids activities and such. But please let us know when you are available, and we'll set something up.

We won't take you away from your Fiance for long, but just wanted to help you celebrate your special day!

All this Wedding talk is getting me extra excited about our cruise.. :cheer2:

Where does it take place? If I'm not being too nosey, it's just I never knew you could get married on the actual ship.. :confused3 I was told it would have to be on one of the Islands.. :bride: :groom: Ooohhh this sounds sooooo fun.. Congrats again and I am soooooo Jealous

Wendy, when I try to print the cruise info (DISmeet & Secret Santa/Mickey) on your blog I get 5 blank sheets. How do I get the info to print?

Lets see.... We live in Tampa. Moved there from Chicago last year. I start work for the Disney Reservation Center in Tampa on Saturday  (did somebody say discount!:woohoo: ) My DF jokes that i would have to make 10 dollars an hour more at any other job to make up for the discounts at Disney! We have been dating for almost 4 years. Last year we got engaged at Cinderellas Royal Table on December 11th at the christmas party.

Honestly Im not too sure of where it takes place on board! They told me that they do the ceremony the day before CC so that either the Captain or the Assistant Captain can marry you. I know that there is a concierge who directs us where to go, so if it wasnt for them i would be lost to my own wedding! I thrilled to have people on the ship sharing in our excitement seeing as we are eloping.

helloemi and helloemi's DF: You're such a cute couple! And how great to get married on board! You'll have the most awesome time! Especially with all these perfect strangers helping you get ready.;)
