DS & I went to staples today after I picked him up.. and I swear you people are SUCH a Bad influence on me :rolleyes1

I spent $50.. On a Lime green hard 3 ring binder, a Lime green soft 3 ring binder to travel with, a Lime green 3 ring folder that has pockets and can travel if needed... Sheet protectors, 2 Zip 3 ring binder pocket things, and some Lime green pens to write my Dis' stuff down with :sad2:

Oh and guess what??? as we checked out, the woman gave away free samples of Staples brand Stickey Post It Notes... and guess what color she gave me?? ::yes:: Lime green !!! :woohoo:

Thank Goodness DH won't get a detailed bill about the Colors of the stuff I bought.. :lmao: He'd ban me from here for sure..

OK, everybody--

After a great deal of soul-searching and budget crunching, I have made a gut-wrenching decision---

We canceled our Cat. 10--

and reserved the Cat 12 gty!

Welcome to the 12 gty club!!! :rotfl:

I think just in this group alone we have more people in 12 gty than they actually have 12s on the ship. SOMEBODY is getting upgraded. :lmao:

and reserved the Cat 12 gty! Jim and I may have to share the bathroom, but it's only the two of us, and the extra money will enable us to rebook while on board, or to treat ourselves to something wonderful for our anniversary. I think we deserve something for staying together for 35 years!

So if you'd like to remove our room number from any lists and put us in the Cat. 12 gty, I'll update if/when we get a room! We were already booked on Deck 2, so the only thing we will lose (maybe) is that split bath.

Beth

Split bath just the two of you--just tell him to move it! ;) I know, easier said than done! (And who said women take all the time in the bath??) Me, I dream of the day I get my own at home and don't have to wipe up anybody else's toothpaste in the sink or...whatever.

Yep, spare money is good. Nice to dream about ways of spending it. :thumbsup2

Really sorry to hear about ddil, best wishes you have good news to share by Dec...

I'll pass the good wishes along to DDIL. Their insurance will pay for six rounds of treatment each year. The problem is purely mechanical, so sooner or later it will work. If October doesn't work, she's going to skip November and December. She doesn't want to travel that soon (it would only be two weeks) and won't be back in time for Dec.

We're getting back quite a chunk of money. Of course, it will all go back to Disney somehow, but it gives me even more opportunities to travel. Now all I have to do is explain to Jim that we have to share the sink!

What does everyone else use to fight seasickness?

I can usually get by on a little candied ginger and Bonine. If I'm still feeling it, I'll sip a ginger ale too. The carbonation seems to help for some reason.

My sister went through fertility treatments for two years. She finally got to the point where she said "no more" because she just couldn't stand the heartbreak anymore. She got pregnant on her own two months later. :cloud9:

Blessings to your DDIL and DS. I'll be looking forward to hearing their good news!

Seasickness, what a concept...

I am an experienced "ferrier", having lived on islands for most of my life. (Six hours on the north Atlantic to get home for Christmas in college...and back again...and so on...) I never really got sick so haven't considered it for the cruise, but one never knows with kids. (They have done ferries too, but not as much.)

What would be appropriate as a "just in case" to carry for the kids?

(ETA, this conversation today is reminding me of morning sickness...hated that, for sure. Wouldn't wish anything similar on someone on vacation! Hard enough to bear when you know you're building a baby in there...)

Where can I buy candied ginger? Is it a hard candy? I want to get some. I have ginger capsules from GNC.

It's not hard like a lifesaver. It's kinda more like a gummy chew. I believe it's actual ginger root that they've taken and candied with sugar. I've always just gotten it at the grocery store. If you have something like a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, they'd probably be more likely to have it. If you don't have anything like that where you are, I'd be happy to pick some up and bring it along for you :)

ETA: I just did a search and found this site: http://www.gingerpeople.com/bulk_candied.html The kinda I usually get looks like what they call the "diced" variety.

Oooh, Judy - I just found this website too: http://faq.gardenweb.com/faq/lists/herbal/1998041519004507.html

It actually says that candied ginger isn't good because the sugar ruins the B6 vitamin in it. But it does recommend chewing on raw ginger. I'm guessing you can get that in the produce section of any grocery store.

That site also has other suggestions for nausea and motion sickness.

Julie, thanks. We do have Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. I'll buy a small quantity and have it with if I need it.

Answering my own question, kind of...I drank a lot of mint tea for morning sickness. (Mint calms the stomach like ginger.) I may try my kids on that, caffiene-free, easy on the body...if anyone else is in to herbal tea, it might be worth trying.

I like now brand ginger tea but can't find it any place. The store I used to buy it at closed.

Julie:

I was thinking that same thing about the Cat. 12's when I decided to change. We were already booked in 2109, which is just down the hall from the 12's anyway. We're sound sleepers, and DH is a bit hard of hearing, so a noisy cabin isn't a problem. That extra cash is a great anniversary present for us! And I would imagine that the Cat 12's go to all the same islands as the Cat 10's:rotfl2:

What :scared1: I'd have to move.. or put up a Candy stand near an active town :lmao: I love halloween more then Christmas

I know! For a couple of years we had a friend that lived in town and I would go to his house to pass out candy. He moved to Idaho......no more seeing all the cute munchkins at the door for me. :sad2:

Angie How is your Brother doing? :guilty: I hope is is getting a little better each day :wizard: I'm so sorry for his loss and ALL your family's lost.. It is such a shame and to happen right before Holidays :scared: That is always tough..

Thank you for asking. He told me he was going back to work today, he needs to stay busy and keep his mind occupied. Saturday, the day of the service, would have been her birthday and today is his birthday. I have to remember to call him tonight as I know this will be a tough day for him.

We used Bonine on our cruise and it worked like a champ. We just had to take it BEFORE we thought we might feel any sickness. You can pick it up at most any place over the counter.

I think the Whole Foods here might carry Now brand teas. If you're going for ginger, check for the tea too! :thumbsup2
