Just got back and wanted to pop in and say Hi  will catch up tomorrow because I am drop dead tired from this crazy weekend, we had a show saturday then drove to dallas for my cousins welcome home party, he is on his third tour in Iraq and was awarded the bronze star and purple heart so we went down there to tell him how proud we were of him. Sure am glad I only have 3 pages to catch up on.

Hi there..

I got home from work and decided to decorate the house for Halloween.. I know we will be away 24 - 28 and Trick or Treat here is on the 30th.. The 31st is always our Annual Halloween Parade.. 70th anniversary this year..

It was warm enough outside to hang up the spiderwebs ad bats and put out the jack-o-lantern over hang lights for the train track..

We have an LGB train set that runs around the whole perimeter of the house like the ones in Germany in Epcot.. the kids LOVE & EXPECT us to have them ready for Trick or Treat..

I already bought 4 bags of reeses, 2 bags of lemonheads, 3 bags of blowpops, 4 bags of snickers, and 3 bags of KitKats oh and 2 bags of Sweet tarts.. We generally have 100 + kids no matter how many other houses get..

We love Halloween and every year we have people over.. Noone gets invited they just show up and I'm ok with that cause I'm always prepared..

edited to add... look i made the 5555 post

We live 2 miles out of town, rural, no neighbors. We get NO trick or treaters. I miss that.

Shore days. We're not really planning on doing much, maybe a few hours to shop/explore in St Maarten; maybe, maybe some beach time in St Thomas...so, here's my question. If we plan to take advantage of staying on the ship, when are more people going to be OFF? Does everyone rush off first thing and start trickling back after lunch or do people have a leisurely morning and stay busy at port through the afternoon? Or am I overthinking it??

Most of the excursions are in the morning so the ship has less people onboard in the morning. I was surprised but there are still a few people left on that do not go off at all. We didn't on our last cruise except for the two stops at CC.

Wow, Bronze Star! Thank him for serving for us when you next talk with him, please!

We moved 6 months ago and I still have boxes I haven't gone through. What's really sad though is that I still have boxes from the move before that - TWO years ago - that I haven't gone through yet. And you figure, if I haven't used it in that time, throw it out, right? But most of it is DH's gaming stuff. And I still can't find our snorkeling equipment from the cruise 2 years ago. How can just two people have so much c**p???

We moved from OKC to Baltimore 16 months ago and we have a basement full of unpacked boxes. :confused3

The worst part ...... we moved unpacked boxes from when we moved to OKC from Dallas six years before that!

We've got to get rid of some this stuff before we retire. :confused3

I was VERY surprised at the music that was chosen for tonight :sad2: ALL RAP and UNCENSORED !!!!! :.

Rap is the one type of music I simply cannot stand. I would've gotten a headache after a few minutes of it. :sad2:

I know there are a bunch of us late-comers waiting to book Palo. We haven't "signed up" for brunch or anything with the group. Is there still "room" anywhere (I think Wendy's is full?), if not, maybe we could build another group, and how do we do that if we haven't actually got a time? Pick a time and all try to book it when we get there and hope for the best?

I think most people who don't go ashore, will probably sleep in. So if you're looking for some quiet time on deck, the morning would probably be best. I'll be one of the folks sleeping in, except for CC!

You need 12-14 people to request the private room. And that is done by fax ahead of time. You may still be able to get a sitting, so it'd be worth it to try. I don't know if they do dinner or high tea in there, but I'm guessing they would. :confused3

Can I come to your house??

I swear we are walking billboards for DCL...

Me too! I think people think I'm crazy.

drove to dallas for my cousins welcome home party, he is on his third tour in Iraq and was awarded the bronze star and purple heart so we went down there to tell him how proud we were of him. .

Please tell your cousin welcome home! I hope he wasn't seriously injured.

Busy, busy!

Jasmine had her first real soccer game on Saturday (Thursday was a scrimmage). They lost, but only by 1 point. The team was actually getting better throughout the game. Its frustrating to sit on the sidelines and not be the coach. Especially when I've coached 3 of the kids previously, and I know they can play better than that. Jasmine played goalie for the first time, and did awesome. She blocked every attempt, and kicked the ball all the way to the other half of the field!

Saturday night we had 2 more girls over for a total of 4. And Sunday I spent 2 hours on the phone with Dell support troubleshooting my computer. They are finally sending me a new motherboard and power supply.

Then we worked on Jasmine's research project on Jaguars. Hopefully she doesn't have a lot of homework tonight!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Only 7 more Mondays before we can dump the kids at the Kids clubs on board. :cheer2:

(Uh, I mean drop off the little darlings for their special playtime, yeah that's it! :thumbsup2 )

Hi, everybody!

Wow, I never got online all weekend! I had forgotten how much yard work goes with having a house! We had downsized from a nine room house to a two-bedroom apartment several years ago. Just a year ago we "upsized" to a huge house on a half-acre of ground, with lots of beautiful old trees. By the time we moved in, the trees were bare and life was good. I spent this weekend outside doing all the things I had forgotten about, and now my back and knees are paying the price! I'm glad to be in the office to relax! I had to laugh--we're still unpacking boxes from the "downsizing" that we never needed in our apartment. I just found my Christmas stuff, so I'll have lots of things this year since I bought all new last year!

We live on a tiny street that no one knows is there. No kids around except for Shannan--the neighbors say they haven't had trick-or-treaters in years! You can't even see our house from the street because of the trees, so we probably won't see anyone at all. However, my DDIL is busy decorating anyway!

We've only cruised once when the ship wasn't decorated for Christmas! In 2005, they were decorating the big gingerbread house while we were on our back-to-back four-nights. When we boarded it hadn't been started, and after eight nights it was almost finished. It was fascinating to watch each day as more things were added.

Our excursions on the islands are both early AM--around 8, I think. We'll be back aboard by noon, and will probably head out after a bit of lunch and explore around the port area for a while, especially since I know I'll be safe from those "pesky townsfolk" who won't be on St. Maarten after all! They did reschedule their trip, and I hope they enjoy the island in January. I'll enjoy the peace and quiet here!

I'm another walking billboard--and now my boss is getting ready to book a DCL cruise! He's tired of hearing me talk about it and seeing my pictures all the time (they run as the screensaver on both of my office computers), so he's going to check it out for himself.

Well, I have to get some work done now that the boss is back!

Later---

Beth

Wendy, guess what? I finally printed my magnets! The one you designed for us is very nice. Thanks again.

Your reward will be great in Heaven. ;) (That's what a good friend used to tell me everytime I did something nice!)

That's funny. Yep, they at least owe you an umbrella drink! :goodvibes

One of the things that came off the truck today from our stuff in storage was a big orange rubbermaid container with our Hallowe'en stuff. Hooray! Now I don't have to buy it all over again...it was getting to be a close thing! I am totally stocking up on pirate-themed Hallowe'en stuff, though. pirate:

An umbrella drink would work.. :lmao:

Congrats on you Halloween box.. :cheer2: I was looking at some of our stuff and the Brand new stuff still in packages that I got for half price last year will be sent down to the Florida house on our next Driving trip..

Now I need to find a way to keep the Cat away from the dangling skeletons mobile that hangs over the dining room table.. :sad2: He knows he is not suppose to be on the Table..

Oh it was not happy times. :furious:

We ended up having to use a disposable camera and the quality was....well, less than magical. :wizard: At least the memories are crystal clear. :goodvibes

Friends of ours had a brand new palm held video camera that they saved up a year to buy.. The very first trip they used it on, in Disney World, and oops off the bench onto the ground.. and 3 pieces broke off.. :sad1:

That is so funny you mention that as we said that same thing to someone at a birthday party today. I swear we are walking billboards for DCL as we have given many people the lowdown and shared our excitement and addiction with them. :)

- Bill

Yup, I agree..

For the September double dip we are booked on, I brought in 4 more rooms.. I'm so close to selling out the ship.. :rotfl2:

My cat is driving me crazy lately. The other night she came and jumped right on me at 4am in the bed. Last night, she kept using her scratching post. Between scratches, she'd meow really loudly. I woke up this morning and the small trash can in the living room had been knocked over. These are the times I remind my husband that it's his cat. :headache:

Stacy, on the main forum, you'd mentioned something about being able to take the cruise even though you're working retail during the holiday season because it was booked before you took the job. How did you bring this up? I was thinking of getting something part-time between now and December for a little extra spending money, but it seems like going in and saying "and yeah, I can't work December" might turn a few employers off. :rotfl:
