awhile back we asked to be included in the Brunch at Palo's - I did not see our name on the list on the blog - is it too late??:confused3

We are a "roadtrip" family too! Bill wants to get an RV when he retires to travel the country. I admit, the DVD player in the mini-van has been a lifesaver on many trips. I can play "I Spy" for so long! We aren't telling the kids about the WDW trip in a couple of weeks (they know about the December trip). We plan to just wake them up around 4 am and carry them into the van. They love roadtrips and staying in hotels (so do Bill and I). So, they won't fuss too much not knowing where we are going. I can't wait to see their little faces when we pull through the Walt Disney World Gate. :cool1:

I meant to comment when you said you had planned to drive to Niagara Falls...that was you, right? From Texas. That is something dh would undertake. We've rented rv's a couple of times, though not for huge roadtrips, but it really appeals to both of us, dh for hte driving, me for the lack of packing and unpacking!

Really cool to have that surprise pending for the kids. I might be able to keep it that long!! How long a road trip IS that?

Yes, Liam will love meeting Stitch again, won't miss that! I remember him signing Liam's book then "licking" it. :rotfl: Little rascal.

Yay! I'm still a little misty eyed from watching it last night. I might watch it again this week. :o

Lilo and Stitch and Monster's, Inc. ("Boo!") are the two Disney movies that really make my biological clock start ticking loudly.

We've watched the series so much I forget how sweet and funny the original movie is (the sequels--some better than others), but it's made it to the top of our dvd pile lately, that's why I have the dialogue committed to memory.

LOL. I didn't get to WDW til I was a mom, and it was marvellous seeing the delight of the kids. If you're already into it, you are going to LOVE taking your own kids.

I just heard the rumor about possible Alaska sailings in 2009 and Transpacific in 2010!

I've got a waitlist in for a Cat 3 for either Europe or Panama Canal in 2009. Can't wait to get a final answer!

We have already planned a 2009 cruise and will book it onboard in December. If they do have an Alaskan cruise in 2009 we may book it too! :woohoo:

Oh and Bill and Jennifer, think about if you want to buy into more than one resort. I was going to buy 200 points at SSR, but now am going to just buy the minimum 160. Then if I need more points, I'll buy into another resort. That way I'll have 2 places to choose from at 11 mos. out. I talked to the guide about this. He said he owns at 2 resorts, and will probably purchase a 3rd. One reason is that then each membership can be willed to a different person. (One per kid). But for reasons of usage, you can combine all of your points. Cool huh? :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 That's good advice!

We have 200 points at SSR but as soon as we can afford it we'll buy into another resort for the minimum number of points. It's all about options! :teacher:

baseball and basketball are much more my kind of sports. My boss is a former NBA player, so we often talk basketball in the office. He's still friendly with a lot of people in basketball.

Beth

Who is your boss?

As a DieHard Tarheel I live, breathe and drink basketball! Especially college basketball.
:yay:

I was always curious why people had signatures with more than one DVC property on it. That makes sense to buy into more than one to have the priority booking. (Thanks Wendy!) However, would we have to buy 160 point for each additional property?

- Jennifer

No you can buy less. 50 points if you finance them and 25 if you pay cash is the minimum but read Angie's next post.

But be aware you can't combine points at 11 months. You can only book at 11 months up to the amount you own at that particular resort.

You learn something new everyday! :teacher:

I knew that there had to be a catch somewhere.
:confused3 :rolleyes1

Posting all by myself again. :surfweb: This must be the time of day that everyone is working for a living and when I leave the whole crew comes out of hiding to post. :confused3 :lmao:

We had to put the roadtrip up north on hold until this Spring or Summer 2008. We've made the roadtrip from TX to MA a few times. We've made the roadtrip from TX to FL almost as many! The first couple of times, we went by maps and the internet. This last trip we finally invested in a navigation system. It had us go a different way than the internet and it worked out to be quicker and a better drive to Orlando. I may give Bill a couple of hours break here and there, but for the most part he is the driver and I'm the navigator on our roadtrips. Hey, it just donned on me with the new navigation system, I've been replaced! :rolleyes1 "Technically", it should take us a little over 19 hours to get to WDW from our home. But, we have children that don't seem to realize what bathroom breaks are for. It never fails, as soon as we leave a stop they have to go! We usually sleep in a hotel one night on the way and back. We've found that if we stop a little into Florida the first night, we are a little over six hours away for a lesser drive the next day to WDW. Last time, it worked out great for Bill. He was not overly exhausted the first day at WDW from all the driving. :goodvibes

The first roadtrip we took to WDW, Bill drove home in one night! :scared1: We got into LA and he got his "second wind" and wanted to keep on driving home. That was a crazy night. Sometimes after a trip, you just want to get home. Bill vowed to NEVER drive it all in one shot again. He was so tired the next day. :confused3

We drove the whole way and back when we lived in Dallas. When we moved to OKC we drove it all the way and back for the first several years. One trip we stopped at the 1st Florida rest area and slept for about three hours until dawn!

We don't drive all the way any more; not even from Baltimore. It's too hard and we are too "old" for that. :guilty:

:thumbsup2 I'm backkkkkkkkkkk! I just finished some homeschooling work w/DS7. I am so happy he is embracing the whole homeschooling idea. You never know how things will work out until you jump in and "just do it". :cool1:

Palo--as of two minutes ago there are no reservations available on line for any meal. I'm still trying to get High Tea, but it hasn't been available at all. Has anyone been able to book High Tea? Perhaps for some reason it's not available at all for our cruise.
Beth

I have been trying for High Tea for over a month.. No such luck.. DCL told me to show up at the cruise and go deck 3 forward to Rockin' Bar to try reserve there :guilty: But I am running directly to the spa to try and reserve a Hair appointment for Formal night..

I know that is hard for both of you. :teacher:

I'm glad that I don't have to worry about. My biggest concern in that area is making sure my false muttonchops stay glued on during Pirate night. pirate:
