I guess I have always been a console guy going from some triangular shaped thing that had pong to Atari to Nintendo to Sega and finally to XBOX. I have played PC games :surfweb: from time to time but alot of them take a decent time investment to play and my adult ADD kicks in  or the kids/wife take priority. :rolleyes1

So... the real reason we don't have kids finally comes out! :lmao:

I have heard alot about World of Warcraft but our 10 year old computer can't cut it. :) Maybe one day.

- Bill

Yeah, that's the problem I'm having now. We always have a couple of back up computers laying around, so I'm on one now, but it's waaaaaay too old to play Warcraft. DH has decided he "needs" a new gaming computer when NVIDIA puts our their new card next month, so I didn't see the point in buying myself a new one now when his hand-me-down will run anything I want to play just fine. That's how it works around here. He waits for the 6 year old computer I'm on to die, then decides he gets a new one and I get his old one. Rinse, repeat.

So...I feel like such a newbie. Is my family the only one who's never cruised before?

And seeing as you're all so "experienced" ;) I'm checking my reservation online madly--with a GTY room, I still have to wait for about a month to get a room assignment right?

Off to tuck in ds and wrest the book from his hands.

Wow...does "experienced" mean old? :lmao: We have only been on one cruise but it left the impression of four. Most things that we have learned we learned on this board. Hopefully your trip will be magical and you will be one of those "experienced" folks whose entusiasm will be helping the newbies of the future. :goodvibes

By the way, I forgot to mention it but Happy Thanksgiving JoAnne! :thumbsup2

I don't think you're the only first timer here. :)

I'm still in a GTY too and have been obsessively checking every day to see if I've gotten an assignment yet. I'm not sure how they work in terms of when they do them. I do notice they still have the really good deal on the cat 12 gty though, so it could be that they're waiting for more "final" numbers before they start the shuffling game. :)

This is our first GTY (I gave up our room assignment for $770) and DCL told me that we would know about two weeks before the cruise.

It's not a big deal. We're on the ship and I can sleep on Deck 9 if I have to. :woohoo:

Thanks Bill, we had a lovely "turkey day". I made the mistake of trying to assume what the craft was that 4 yo dd made in preschool...looked like a sunflower to me, all gold and brown...it was a turkey. Then I went to hang it on the wall and put it up backwards. :confused3 I must be the dumbest mommy at preschool. Fortunately the craft the 7 yo brought home was quite recognizable so I didn't get in any additional trouble.

"Experienced" is a term of endearment. ;)

I'm good with the whole gty thing, I know it's going to mean some kind of upgrade for us (can't fit all of us in a Cat 12, I know that much), I'm just greedy and want to know how much of an upgrade! And, curious to know where we're going to end up on the ship. Two weeks out, Brack? groan. Well at least I've logged in so many times I've got my ressie # committed to memory...

Julie, I've been curious about our great deal too, and I see it's not quite as great as it was, CAA is offering $650 for first 2 in a cat 12 now, we got it for $599...but it's still a deal, so they must be still trying to sell cabins. It's all good, right??

And will SOMEONE tell me when the new season of Law and Order is starting?? I see SVU is just about ready to go but I like the original, and Criminal Intent. I can't even find a hint on NBC.com!!

Coastgirl: Criminal Intent moved to the USA Network, and the first episode will be Thursday night--I think. If not, it's next Thursday. And, BTW, we were all first timers once! This will be our seventh DCL cruise, and we're looking forward to it as much as we did to our first!

Pfishgirl: AC Moore in Shrewsbury had lime green T shirts this weekend, 4 for $10.00, and they had them in all sizes. I would imagine the one near you will have them too. They're a nice quality. I haven't tie-dyed anything since my college days, so I can't help you there!

I'm calling it an early night tonight. Maybe some sleep will help. I think I'll probably pay a visit to the doctor tomorrow, since now I've got a fever to go with the coughing, sneezing and sore throat.

Beth

Thanks, guys :flower3:

From the other posts I read it sounded like they were going to the thing like SWA is doing... still having boarding groups, but then adding numbers to them as well.

I really don't mind what time we get on the ship except that, since we booked so late, I haven't been able to book Palo online so I'll need to do that relatively early the first day.

When you enter the terminal and head up the escalators they give you a number. Supposedly the numbers are by the time you arrive. However, last year we were there at 10:30 and got a number 6. There were folks entering at the same time given 2. Seemed the person at one escalator had a stack of numbers and the person at the other escalator had a much higher stack. But, we had DIS friends who gave us a nubmer 3 because they were invited to board with the suites by another DISer. ;) :goodvibes Love the DIS

I keep checking the DCL site to see if anything is changing, more rooms selling out, etc. and it looks like they're still offering the same price on that site... so maybe CAA is just trying to make a little more profit? ;) I've always gotta do quick math to figure it out anyway since DCL automatically adds the transportation and insurance and other websites don't. As Dolly Parton would say... "We're not trying to comparing apples to melons here." :lmao: :lmao:

Oh no :sad2: Don't let it turn into some kind of infection! Hope you're feeling better soon. :flower3:

Oooh.. ok. So this is before you get to the check-in counter all together. Was there much of a difference between the boarding groups? Is it worth sending DH up one escalator while I go up the other? :lmao:

 Take care of yourself the cruise is getting closer.

You'll get onboard before it sails and that's all that really counts. :thumbsup2

Hmmm.... well then I guess I must be the "old hag" :confused3
This is our 2nd Magic & we have done Wonder 6 times so far..

September 27th 2008 will be the 3rd time on the Magic..

You may not know your room number until right up to cruise time. That's ok though, any room is good! We are all 12GTY now, Spoiledbrats had DU move everyone from 11 to 12 GTY. Save $700 dollars a room X3. :thumbsup2

So, for the list, Spoiledbrats3, both Stafford rooms are all GTY now.

Yep! In a lifeboat would be fine if they just give me a pillow and blanket! :lmao: ;)

This will be number 7 on the Magic for us so we must be "ancient".:lmao:

We had a wonderful evening yesterday. DD and DSIL came to our MH and we played SkipBo...DD won 2 games and I won 2 games. :) The boys did not do so good! :lmao: The sun came out today so Dennis and I took our new collapsable bikes out for a 2 mile spin. We had a really good time, the bay was lovely that we rode by. Although we never got any photos! Dennis' camera would not work. We put in a new battery, put a card in it, but he kept getting the CF error message, which usually means there is no card in it. We will probably have to get him a new camera now. Sad, huh Brack!!

This will be number 10 for us. 4 - 4 days (first was on the Magic way back when both she and the Wonder were doing 4 days) 5 - 7 days and 1-10 day. So, the Wonder 3 times, Magic 7. It is addictive! :woohoo: :dance3:
