Trying to reach the next pirate is great fun. However the purpose of the thread is for us to meet, get to know each other, and share information. The pirate game (as Brack has pointed out) is a teambuilding exercise. But the team was being lost in the game, as it had become difficult for some of us to keep up with the thread when there were so many pages posted in such a short amount of time. It was almost as if we had to start another thread to actually share information about the cruise. Multiple, short posts during a "pirate run" are a far cry from the long posts that were taking up pages in the thread. I'm glad someone spoke up, and if that person hadn't I would've very soon. It was not meant as a personal attack, rather a chance for us as a group to determine how we want to manage our intereraction. It's ironic that the main component really necessary for us to come together as a group is openness and honesty. And you have already made it clear you are not comfortable telling us who you "really" are. Its hard for us to get to know you when we don't know if any of the information you give us is true or false. (This is a personal decision for you, so I am not criticizing. However, its unfair to call others cliquish after you were welcomed into the thread just as all the rest of us were.)

And just because someone makes an observation, it does not mean they are making a personal attack against another poster. This thread will become cliquish if other posters who are seeking information, are openly ridiculed or told to stay off the thread - that is absolutely uncalled for and simply not allowed. Personally, I believe we need to be especially tolerant of those who are new to the board, and have not had a chance to become familiar with all of the nuances and protocols.

And finally, why would a message in bold to another poster concern you???? I'm sorry but I simply don't understand why you believe that every comment has something to do with you. I believe the comment you were referring to was addressed to me. My immediate thought was that the other poster was apologizing for sending me a PM about DVC to distract me in the middle of a pirate run! I thought it was hilarious! In fact, since she has my stateside phone number, I may get a phone call next time we're both going for the pirate. That is all about exploiting tecnology - NOT worrying about you.

A word of advice, the best way to fit into a group is to observe how the group currently interacts. If you are not comfortable with that, then perhaps that is not the group for you. However, if you feel that you can live within the norms of an already established group then by all means jump in!

Ok, I don't know if I should speak up or keep my mouth shut.. But the more I keep my mouth shut the more it is going to bother me.. so I will say what I need to and get it off my chest..

I do NOT want this thread to close.. All we need is someone to complain to a Mod about the attitudes here with some of the people's posts here and we will be shut down.. and IF that happens.. I for one will be extremely upset.. We put alot of work into this thread..

ok even though I have had the cruise booked since January (sorta - started out in September and moved it to this one in April) I have finally made our plane reservations!!!

now to figure out if we will rent a car, take the ME and DCL transportation, or just walk (only kidding)

Well it comes across to me as this "The short posts are far more important contributions" than what others are choosing to post in the run for a pirate. I find that to be quite rude.

And just because someone makes an observation, it does not mean they are making a personal attack against another poster. There is a difference between openly welcoming someone to a board and the calling out by said new person of a specific post which has nothing to do with asking questions. That is what is absolutely uncalled for and should not be allowed.

Nope, not addressed to you. It was not of concern to anyone who was not included in the PM to be have to read the bolded words of YOU KNOW WHY.

Oh the group absolutely is for me, there are just certain members of the group who are not. That is ok too, as that is how the world works. Not everyone in "the family" is going to like each other.

Oh and thanks for everyone's input and info about what to do coming down - hubby really wants to see the shuttle go up so we are planning hoping to see it but if not we will still go down there as I assume there is something to visit ??? will check on that later - he is really wanting to do that.

So here is what we ended up doing:

we fly in from Memphis at MCO on December 5. (still have to get hotel). Will do dinner and something disney that night. On the 6th rent a car and go to where the shuttle is ( it is late and I cannot think ) and then on the 7th do Epcot and CP - the 8th go to the cruise - on the 15th go back to disney and on the 16th fly back to Memphis on the late flight.


Oh and I still have to find my hubby's Magic Your Way Ticket from almost 3 years ago! They still have days on them - not sure how many - but they do have days I know as they were 10 day tickets and we did not even stay that long! Mine and the kids I have but his I gave to him so i would not loose it and now we cannot find his. But I will go to the safety deposit box this week and see if it is there. And if it is not there he will go through his desk when he comes home on December 3rd - as I will not touch his desk because I will not get things back in the correct place.

Actually I posted that I was getting cigars and planned to meet at the cigar function. I knew the brunch groups were full so I didn't decide to try and get in yet only make my own. And I think the only other one that I didn't mention was getting lime green shirts for the initial Dis meet on deck 10 for sailaway. I knew my daughter would be in the OC with at least a couple of posters on board so there would be meetings. I know our faith will preclude our participation in some of the planned events, but that is ok too. I am sorry if that was read as standoffish.

There are as posted before a couple of personalities that just do not click with me personally, but that was not going to preclude me from saying hello and introducing ourselves in person. It is just online where we must be vigilant and careful.

Now back to our regular thread with news of the day etc.

We had to call the illegal watering hotline on our neighbor today. We are under a crisis as far as drinking and washing water are concerned. What do I see yesterday but our neighbor across the street washing his Navigator.

Today was the last straw after I answered him when asked that yes we were under a total waterban even as he was planting 150 new annuals in his front lawn and then after our walk was seen watering them in.

Some people I swear.

My only concern would be... For 10,000 .... We may need to give 10 depending on who *cough* Brack *cough* has the Higest level of Pirates..

Meaning... As it stands right now at this moment.. if any of use were to get 10,000 and 5 We STILL wouldn't beat Brack... Sooooooo when we get down to the last few We will need to make the "Bonus" amount enough that someone could beat the Top Poster's Count..
