For those of you who are doing Rome totally on your own (i.e. taking the train) has anyone pre-purchased train tickets?? I went to the trenitalia website to look at schedules etc and it looks like you can only pre purchase express train tickets but it doesn't let you purchase tickets for the regional trains which is what I was looking at. Does anyone know if you can only purchase these tickets at the train station??? I can't imagine these trains would be sold out. It seems that most people on previous med cruises have purchased tickets at the station without any trouble, but I'm a little nervous...any info would be great!!

I just went back to see who was interested in navigating from LaSpezia out to Pisa on our own, together, by tender and then train and this is what I came up with:

Palermo: Thoughts on the different excursions?

We are doing the Village of Cefalu, a very pretty medieval seaside village.Would love to do this on our own, but have heard the trains are not reliable ?? Palermo is a large dusty city...wanted to see the Sicily from the Godfather. Thought about the beach,but the beaches in Olbia look much prettier. Actually, there is a nice small beach in Cefalu.

Castaway: What are the GIFTS this year??????

Anything new this year to tell???

Let me know if anyone else would like to come along to see the ruins. Is everybody ok w/ 8:30 meet ? What about meeting in Diversions ?I'm not sure if there is a DCL shore exc group meeting there. Does anyone have a better idea for a meeting place ? GINA

How is everyone printing or checking in for their return flight? Do we check-in online or inline at the airport?

I would hate to get to the airport and find I could have avoided lines.

My latest count is 85 people on the list in 26 staterooms. I did what I should have done before and put all the information in a spreadsheet and let EXCEL do the calculations. By counting it in my head I was off on my numbers.
