07/22/2006 - The Oh-Seven Double-Deuce Double Dip Desperados!

Welcome Savagefam, the more the merrier!

I have been having dis-withdrawl. I haven't been able to sign in on my home computer since Saturday and I can't use my work computer. I worked all day on Sunday trying to fix it, removing cookies, etc. to no avail and then alas today I am able to get back on. I guess someone sent me pixie dust.

I don't know what we going to be doing. To tell you the truth we have been so busy that we are just looking forwad to relaxing. Deck chairs with a book sound great right now. However, the beer tasting has some possibilites.

I've mentally been packing so I think were good. That is until it is really time to pack then I'm sure I'll find something I missed.

:cool1:

DBinMV, now I feel old :sad2:

My kids are just starting college and I have a while before I am eligible to retire. But my mainframe work is paying for this vacation :cool1:

7/22 - please get here soon before I lose my mind :bounce:

There is a rocket launch at Canveral the day we leave:

July 22 STEREO
A two-year mission to provide a unique and revolutionary view of the Sun-Earth System.
Launch Windows: 3:11 - 3:13 p.m. and 4:19 - 4:34 p.m.

So we can watch it go off during our meet. The last time we cruised, another rocket went off and they delayed the life boat drill and made announcements so people could come on deck and watch. It was really great!

wow, that's wicked awesome! it'll be really exciting to see that. hopefully they won't postpone it or anything.

the rockets are rarely delayed except for really bad weather. the shuttle sayd July at the earliest but I am not getting my hopes up to see that go off. :surfweb:

I feel old...I have one who finished college last year, one still in college, a jr in High school and a 4th grader...keeps us on our toes...

I hope the launch goes off while we are there, that would be awesome. DS took part in a space camp here at the base a few summers ago, where they built and launched their own rockets....it would be so cool to see one happen from the ship.

Oh, sorry, Joan...not my intent. :goodvibes ...just trying to point out another point of common interest in our group.

Re: the dessert buffet, I could have sworn it was on Thursday night when we were on the 7-Day Mexican Riviera last year, but I don't see it on the navigators, either. Bummer. I don't understand why they would cancel it - it seemed really popular.

pirate: pirate: AAAARGGH....where be the desserts, ya bilge rats? The Desperados will be a plunderin', says I.... pirate: pirate:

(Yes, work has been um....frustrating lately)

Wow,

So many posts today. Welcome Savagefam. It's never too late to join in. I forgot about the dessert buffet. They did have it on the DD. I remember reading about it in a trip report. (Thursday I think).

Very cool about the rocket launching. Thanks for letting us know.

About packing, clothes, and losing weight. I'd lost 18 lbs. since March 1st. Then we went on 3 trips in 4 weeks. I've lost the few lbs. I gained but have hit a plateau myself. I'd love to lose 8-10 lbs. before we go.

I can't think about packing until I finish unpacking. Been back from the beach a week (trip with DH family), but I got strep throat which knocked me off my feet.

Formal night clothes. I have a little black halter dress I just bought for 1st May trip to a wedding. It's short but dressy. I know I can wear it for semiformal night, but I like it better than the long dresses I currently own. I can't see buying another long dress. Is anyone's formal outfit short or are you all bringing long dresses? Are DH wearing tuxs? My DH owns one, but isn't sure if he wants to bring it. We wore formal clothes on a different cruise and were the only 2 at our table for 10 in fancy clothes.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'm gaining weight just thinking about the buffet.

Seeing as how this is our first Disney Cruise, I was wondering if anyone had any advice/experience with younger children...especially ones in the nursery. We have a DD (5) and a DS (2). I'm sad he has to be in the nursery because I think he will be bored. He is used to being with older children. And also, do you ever get to book more than your 10 hours once you are on the ship? DH & I wanted to go out dancing one night, but we used up all our hours already. Thanks for any advice. :listen:

Is is close to turning 3 or potty trained. If so they will usually let you try the club on a trial basis. i've also seen posts where people were able to go over 10 hours in the nursery if other people hadn't reseved time. Be sure to check often while on board.

Thanks to a friend of mine in Maryland, I have formal and semi formal covered without spending a dime(ok I need shoes). The semi formal dress is a short black dress with jacket, and formal is a long gown(black velvet and satin, strapless)

First time in a long time I have had a dress this pretty. I think all of us in my group(ok just the girls :lmao: ) are wearing long dresses for formal night. DH is wearing a suit, not to sure what I can get DS'S into, I am hoping for at least a tie on formal night, but that might not go to well with the 9 yr old.

First off, congrats on the weight loss. What a great accomplishment. Now, as far formal night, I'm planning on wearing a short dress, I don't own any long dresses, and with the trend towards less formal I think I'll be fine. I usually wear slacks, not too fond of dresses or skirts, so thats what I'll be wearing the other nights. DH will probably be wearing a suit, he doesn't own a tux. I'm hoping I can get my 13yo DS to at least wear a tie!

We're really looking forward to our cruise! I can't believe it's almost here. I'm busy trying to think up what to put in our "state gift bag". Looking forward to meeting you all at the DIS meet.

Suzy

Thanks for your input. I tend towards dressy pants, too. But I recently found a couple of dresses and skirts I like. DS and DD like to get dresses up. DS will wear a seersucker suit with a bow tie and Navy jacket the other night. DD will either wear a princess dress or a white dress

Please Welcome our 30th group!!!! :yay:
Savage Fan!

Woot!!! 37 days!!!! :yay:

OK, I have a question....

I am making something very small for all of us(nothing major, just something to keep me busy)

Now heres the question...do I include all of the non DIS cabins as well, or just us DIS'ers??

And how do I get them to the ones I don't have a cabin number for???

aw that is too cute! i love seersucker suits and bow ties! those princess dresses are awesome, i only wish they had them when i was little...

Hi there! Here is our information if you still need it. The Savagefam will be in room 6555. Not sure if you need names, but I'll give them to you anyway. DW (that's me..heehee) Dustielyn, DH - Billy, DD - Shelby(5), DS - Jackson(2)

Thanks for the info, and welcome to our group!!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know, I just came home from our local Target.

In their dollar section at the front of our store, they had bins of neon green glow necklaces and green glow sticks for 1.00 each. Didn't know if anyone was interested in these for maybe the deck party at night. Won't take up much room in the suitcase, and cheaper then what Disney would want onboard. They also had personal fans for 1.00.(batteries not included :rotfl2: )
