05/09/2009 May 9, 2009 7-Night Eastern St Maarten... Watch Out!

Jeremy and Steve - I want to thank you for your info on DL. We really ahve no idea what to expect from DL since the furtherest west we have ever been is Vegas. We were just thinking that since we have been to Florida a few times that we would try something different with Cali. I am just not sure after what others have told me that this is the place we want to take the kids for their first trip to Disney. Maybe it is because we are use DW? You never know, we may end up booking there after all. It still is a while away before we are planning our vacation (2011).

I do appreciate all and info I can get for new places we have never travelled.

Ok I have updated the FE list again and you can find it on pg. 120 post 1793. Please send me any updates or changes ASAP! I will update this page again about 4 days before we go. If for some reason you have changed rooms once we get on the ship I would ask that you pass out your gifts on the first day and maybe attach a little note with your new room #. If anyone has an idea as to how to pass the word on a room change once on board please post.

That sounds like a good idea on how to pass on word of your room change, if it occurs after the last few days before the trip. I think someone was planning to try for an upgrade purchase at port so they would have a room number change at the last minute for sure!
Maybe something like taking an extra sticky post-it note pad with you and then writing your DIS name on it and your old and new room number(s) and sticking it in the other participants FE the first night or on their door if its not out yet?

So the Disney Mail Fairy finally visited Albuquerque, and we got our cruise documents. :goodvibes Now it seems real. Too much still to do, and I don't know when I'll have time to finish, but it will get done.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm building a playhouse for my daughter and I promised her it would be up before we left, so I'm hurrying to finish it.:)

Time is really flying now for sure... we have all been wishing for this to happen but now I come to find out more each day that we need to purchase, get a task done, pay a bill, etc. before we leave! Time, please slow down just ever so slightly!

Hold the door to the playhouse open... my kids are on the way over! :yay:

Looking forward to our cruise!!! Any recommendations for shopping with young kids

Not real sure, but we will have kids in tow when we hit the shopping areas in St Maarten and St Thomas. I think we are going to have a stroller for our youngest to help navigate the stores and streets. I think we are going to whatever area has a variety of stores and is closest to the ship in both ports. I am sure my daughters will want to visit the Del Sol store and likely one of the low cost t-shirt stores too.

Dis Name: DisneyKricket...
DGM Linda
DM – Stacey, DD – Kevin, Daughter- Allie (4), DGGM- Alice
Room 2598

I'm not sure who is who? How many adults and how many kids?

Thanks!

Valerie
I believe this is the info for DisneyKricket, one of our cruise pals who found our great thread and the FE Exchange fun a bit after the list closed:
Linda is the grandma to Allie, who is 4
Stacey and Kevin are Allie's mom and dad
Alice is Allies great-grandma.

I think they have two rooms, but have opted to have their FE just at room 2598 to focus efforts on Allie.

Someone please correct me if I am off on the above info!:)

The vacation bug has taken a hold of everyone in our home. Our son who is 3 has mastered the travel plans for the first part of the trip. He gave me the following rundown this evening while we were watching the premier of the new movie on the Disney Channel (Hatching Pete)…

Daddy, just not too much more time left until we have grammy and gramps drive us to the airport and go on a plane to Florida. Then we get to meet grandma at the airport in Florida and go to the hotel with the pool on the top to swim. After we sleep at the cool hotel a man will get us in a big taxi to go see the ship.

I cant wait for this vacation to start!!

That is all correct Scottie...
I am the Gramie to Allie, Stacey and Kevin are Allie's Parents (Stacey is my daughter) and Ms Alice is Allie's Great-Grandmother... (Kevin's Grandma), we are just doing Room 2598 that is the room Allie is in. I am in room 2600 with Ms Alice...

Hi everyone, I updated the site and map. If you are participating in the FE exchange, please check the main page and the map to make sure I got your cabin number correct.

We have most of our clothes packed. It's too chilly here to ever need all the shorts, tank tops and sandals. Our daughter has been having fun loading and unloading toys in her little pink suitcase we use as a carry on. She wheels it around the house and even wanted to bring it to daycare this morning. Too cute!

Steve,

Thanks for putting the map together. That is going to be so helpful.

Hoping to get most of our packing done this weekend and finish up our last shopping. We can't wait to start our trip. We leave on the 6th for WDW.

Can't wait to FINALLY meet everyone.

Have a great weekend everone!

That is so cute!! Sounds like you have a budding travel planner in your family! :)

I did it! Packed all my stuff for 17 days into a carryon size suitcase and 1/4 of a small backpack.

I didn't even really have to skimp on things I need, but it did take much longer because I had to scrutinize each item (Do I really need this? Am I bringing something else that will fulfill the same purpose? Do I have a smaller size of the same item?) I'll have to do a small amount of laundry one time during the trip, but it's worth it to me to save those airline baggage fees.

For all those who are flying on airlines with baggage fees, there is hope! It can be done! ;)

I would love to stay at GC but it's way too pricey and as for Pardise Pier, I believe Disneyland Hotel has a "more magical" feel to it. At least that's what I've heard. ;)

Just stayed at Paradise Pier and we loved it. It is a bit further away than the Disneyland Hotel, but if you cut through the Grand Californian, it is not a bad walk at all. Also, you get a great view in to California Adventure. No matter what you feel about that park, opening your window and seeing inside any Disney park is pretty awesome to me. Also, the rooms are a bit larger than the DLH ones. It was larger than the moderates at WDW. I also didn't feel any less magical...it felt no different than the various themes at the WDW resorts.

If you can get it at a good rate, I would definately recommend it over the hotels on Harbor (although I have my list of places over there I like as well...)

Anyway, that is my 2 cents. That and about $4 will get you the Drink of the Day on the Disney Magic...

Yes, he is also a walking TV Guide... can tell you the channel number for way too many channels! And the funny thing is we limit his TV viewing.:confused3
