05/09/2009 May 9, 2009 7-Night Eastern St Maarten... Watch Out!

Well I have offically gotten my grandmother to book her trip to Orlando, but she hasn't booked here flight back yet. She is using 2 different airlines and one airport coming and going. It's a bit complicated, but it's what she wants. To MCO on USAirways and from Sanford/orlando to GSO on Alligiant. She is going to book the other half of her trip at the airport tomorrow, baecause if you do it at the airport they won't charge you some stupid 13.50 convience fee. She only lives 5 miles from the airport so I guess it's worth the drive out there. I will have to call in teh next few days to get her on the Magical Express from the airport to All Star Music.

I need to call DCL because if those times are right for dinner rotation the one that I told them that we prefered will be way too early. I am not sure I will be ready to eat at 5:30 everyday.

OK an you guys and gals help me out. I wanna do door signs for this cruise and I have never done it before. That's right 6 prior cruises and no door signs. I am not that good at doing things like that. Can you tell me how you do it? I need help. Hope I don't sound too clueless!:rotfl:

We also requested a table alone the other day via our Travel Agent. I guess DCL may read our thread and just seat our two active three year old carrying gangs at the same table!
I have a funny story about the first time Dylan sailed with us and dinner- but I think I will leave that for a later day discussion!

Feel free to sneak your DS into the club Sunday before youth dinner and he can go with my DS and they can eat all the chicken fingers Mickey can supply with the club!
:yay:

Dylan does take a nap majority of the week days. Weekends not so much. However, when on vacation we pretty much go with the assumption that is out the door!:scared1:
But the sun on the ship can do a pretty good job of wearing young ones out at the Mickey Pool (at least it did with our two girls) so we may be able to get him to lay down for a short nap mid day maybe once or twice, if we are lucky!
Even when he doesnt take a nap he still runs strong at home till at least 9pm!

So..question. Does DCL take requests from families wanting to be seated alone? The reason I'm asking is cuz I called my travel agent a few weeks back requesting for a table for 4...but she told me that DCL doesn't take such requests. She told me to contact the Maitre d' if I wanted to make changes once on the ship. Should I ask again??

I believe you can print your door designs on magnetic paper and then just put them on the door. There are several ppl on the boards who will also help with designing and customizing cruise magnets. ;)

Yes
I used "Publisher" and just used clips od photos, cliparts etc, copied and pasted from various sources...then printed A4 photopaper...laminated...and used strips of sticky backed magnetic tape that I found in Lidl accidentally! Was going to order from Ebay till i found the Lidl pack. Haven't seen it again though. i think DIY stores/craft shops sell also.
Many people recommend you personalise in some way...as folks do like to play up and "move them about sometimes"! Some reports of really covetable ones "going missing"...but we had no problems. I kept a special one for Pirate night on the inside of the door..and put that one out on the night. Loads of threads on this on the main board, and lots of helpful people will offer to share pics/ideas.

Here's mine from last year!

Please give youself LOTS of extra travel time to the ship! I was reading a thread where people were talking about the rules of not being allowed to board after a certain time and some people missing cruises due to various issues that caused them to arrive a couple of minutes late!

Thanks Scottie,

Both my DH & Me work on Friday if i can leave early i will but ther's not much we can do. I have done many WDW trips this way hopefull my guardian angels will be with us and i hope to get to the ship around 10:30 or 11:00.

Last year we went to WDW and we left Charlotte, NC @ 10:30pm drove all night pulled in to Chef Mickeys @ 9:10am Sat for our 9:40 ressi. It was the only time they had since we did a last min trip. It's crazy but you do what you have too:scared1:

Happy to hear she is booking those flights finally! :thumbsup2

Yes, this will be our second cruise in which our TA placed a request with DCL for a private table. I am sure you could also ask when you get on the ship. No promises they can honor your request but you should be able to have it at least noted on your reservation prior to arriving.

I called my TA to make the same request and she said she would note it on our reservation but no guarantees that it will be honored. I am going to call DCL directly in a few weeks to make sure the request is there.

Lyn sounds like our door sign pro! :thumbsup2

Here is a link to one of the large threads with magnet info and samples

People on the may 2nd cruise are reporting room assignments as of 3/31/09. So keep a look out to see if the upgrade fairies are on our side!

I will keep my fingers crossed for everyone... just please ask Mickey to not upgrade my rooms... we are looking forward to giving the SPH rooms a shot this time! :)
However, If they need to bump us up to the Walt Suite we may be able to accept!:wizard:

:wave:Hello everyone!

I just got home from getting new clothes for our cruise :cool1: Got some cute stuff, all on sale:thumbsup2

Under 5 weeks til we go....:cheer2:

Yep me too!!! I have been shopping for the past year. SHHHH Don't tell my DH!!! Tomorrow its back to the mall to hit the Disney store. I want to get the girls some new swim suites, flip flops, sunglasses, Disney bucks for their easter basket and then its off to find myself some new stuff, a formal dress, sun dresses, and some new shoes! Man so much to do and so little time!!! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

If anyone is looking for swimsuits for their girls and has a Costco near them, you may want to check the clothing section of your store. Our Costco has a nice selection of girls Speedo brand suits for around $12.00 in a variety of bright color patterns. We picked up a couple for our DDs for the cruise.
