05/09/2009 May 9, 2009 7-Night Eastern St Maarten... Watch Out!

We are flying in on Friday the 8th and my son really wants to go to Disney Hollywood Studios for the afternoon / evening to do the Star Wars ride and some other stuff. Anyone know what resort at Disney is best to stay at for Hollywood Studios, because its easy to get to etc.? I would rather a nice relaxing afternoon but its his birthday so how can I say no :) Any advice is appreciated.

You could consider somewhere like Boardwalk, Yaht/Beach Club or Swan/Dolphin if you want to be close to Hollywood Studios. These resorts offer a walking path over to HS and a nice boat ride option. The walking path would be closest to BoardWalk and Swan/Doplhin I think and the boat has a stop near all these resorts above. Nice pools at all these resorts if you are considering swiming too. You would also be close to the Epoct Entrance with this resorts in case you wanted to sneak in there for a bit.

Hope you guys have room for 2 more cruisers!!!!!

My Mom and I will be joining you on this cruise.

This will be our 7th DCL cruise and we are excited to be cruising with Steve, Amy & Emma (airtime247) again. We met on the DCL Panama Canal cruise in May 2005 and were tablemates and I think my Mom and I are guilty of chatting too much at dinner and kept Steve & Amy (Emma wasn't born yet) from getting good seats at the late evening shows :lmao:

Welcome Aboard!!! pirate:

Hey everyone....after much thought, we decided on a Land/Sea instead....I hope you guys have a great time.....take care and have fun!!!!

Mary J. :flower3:

For fun, I was messing on the DCL site and checking pricing for our cruise. I noticed our cat (10) looked to be about $500 more then when we booked. I guess the ship is filling up!

This will be our third time to sail DCL over Mothers Day. On past cruises (4-nighters) DCL did not do anything too special to celebrate the big day. I think one cruise they may have given my DW and MIL a rose. I always make sure to sneak DWs gifts in the suitcase so the kids can give her something special for this well-deserved day!

This is what I was thinking of doing also. The tricky part will be that DW is also celebrating her birthday that week. I have tried to tell her that the cruise should cover both but she is not buying it. :confused3 Maybe I should just send her shopping with your crew on St Maarteen. :scared1:

Well apparently some of my crew couldn't wait until next May to hang out with Mickey so we are taking a trip to Disneyland over Thanksgiving. I have heard it can be quite busy so hopefully we will survive. DW has been before but this will be the first for DD and I.

Lucky you! I just transferred my two rooms over to family for our trip that was scheduled to WDW over thanksgiving. With the crazy cost of airfare I couldn’t justify doing it then the cruise a handful of months later. No way was I canceling the cruise!:thumbsup2

Enjoy Thanksgiving in DL!!

I have used that birthday/moms day gift claim on a past cruise and it kind of worked for me... but I still found myself buying a gift :confused3 :)

Yes, feel free to send her shopping with my DW and DMIL... she can take my place and I will stay on the ship and relax!:happytv:

I must admit, I am starting to get antsy and cant wait to purchase airfare soon!

I have also started looking at hotels near MCO more so I can decide which one we want to book for Friday night before we set sail.

We booked our flights a couple of weeks ago. We decided to stay at Pop Century the night before and try to get a few hours in at Hollywood Studios on the Friday since my son will be getting in free for his birthday. I was able to get a one way rental car at budget for Friday / Saturday for 45.00.

Just checking back in. It's been a long time since I posted on here but I plan to check it regularly now. We've been busy in trip planning mode for other mouse-related trips but are ready to start concentrating on the cruise.

We're glad our friends Elaine (Mickey&JoshNut) and Margaret are now joining us. We're actually in 2070, right next door. It's a small world (or ship) after all! Count us in for the fish extender exchange too. We still have our original FE at home. It was a lot of fun to do on the original Repo cruise.

We still have no idea which excursions we want to do and what would be fun for a (then) 3 year old girl.

Welcome back! We will also have a 3 year old with us and have decided to do Magens Bay as our excursion. We figured with our diverse mix of ages everyone could enjoy that stop, including the littlest one.

Hi there.. We will probably be staying at home the night before the cruise. We live in West Palm Beach area now so it only takes us about 2 hours to get there. We may be moving to Orlando early next year so it will be even easier for us to get there if that happens. I can't wait fo rmy grandmother to finally go on a Disney Cruise with us. :cool1: It will be sooooo much fun...

Lucky you moving to Orlando!
My MIL who is traveling with us lives in Cape Coral. She decided she would just jump on a plane this time and meet us at the airport in Orlando and then we would use a car service to get us all around. Well I was checking airfare yesterday from Ft Myers to Orlando and it was over $300 for a ticket- a bit crazy for such a close distance!

Yeah it seems the closer you are to somewhere the higher the price... I was trying to My Grandmother a flight from Greensboro, NC to West Palm for Thanks giving and accidently put in Ft. Lauderdale to Miami... It came up 500 dollars.. OK I know no one would do that since it is a 30 minute drive but still I couldn't believe it. I guess it is cause you would go to DC first and then come back to Miami....

As for the move to Orlando keep your fingers crossed. Our future is now in the hands of my DH's boss... :scared:
