04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Hello all...

Dunno if anybody has mentioned this before...but if any of you will be tooling around the Union Square area while we're in SF the new Disney Store is on Stockton St near the Apple Store/Market St (visible from Market St).

This store is 2 stories tall, nice. Anyway, it has "city specific" merchandise which is to say they have shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, key chains, magnets, etc. that have San Francisco and familiar things like the Golden Gate Bridge along with your favorite Disney characters. We were fortunate during our visit earlier in the month and many things were on sale.

So if you want something that says both San Fran and Disney...there is your place to go!

Oooo....that sounds great! I have my DD a Minnie shirt from the Florence Disney Store that we got during our Med cruise trip last year. I love that they do stuff like that. Kind of like Hard Rock for kids, lol.

I've officially started a packing pile. Its getting bigger. I think since we'll be in April this weekend, I can legitimately start putting a few must haves in the suitcase. That's not crazy, right??? We leave the 22nd for Disneyland, so it really isn't that long before our trip begins!

Don't know if anybody has looked, but the character call on reservations is back up. It had been MIA and my travelling companions found it today. We are getting the call from Mickey before we leave.:yay:

Does anyone know if there are any special activities planned b/c this is a Repo cruise? Is there a pirate themed night? Other parties? Sorry if this was already covered somewhere in this thread!

Pirate night will be on SUnday, after we leave San Fran. DCL does not consider this anything special, but they may surprise us with something unique to this sailing.

:goodvibes I just got off the phone with DCL and got a list of the movies on the Repo! Here it is;
Alice in Wonderland
Prince of Persia
Toy Story 3
You Again
Secretariat
Tangled
Tron the Legacy
Gnomeo and Juliette
I am Number 4
Mars Needs Moms
African Cat
Looking forward to seeing you at the THEATRE!! Karen and Ron:3dglasses

Thanks! We are looking forward to seeing a few of these for the first time, and some we will enjoy a 2nd! Hmmm lots of kids movies on a Disney cruise? :lmao: I like that some of them are also shown in the room so you can get room service and veg if you want.

Sounds like fun! Thanks!

I'm about a day or two from totally freaking out. In 4 weeks I will be off work for 3 weeks (I get to come back to dental work!). I have so much office work to do I need another person. The thought of being gone that long...normally I wouldn't care...but the last time we took 3 weeks off was a Panama repo...I think my job duties and responsibilities have increased about 200% since then.

At least work is quiet leading up to our depature...spring break here so the office should be calm. Plus we get that Friday off which will be great for last-minute packing!

Sorry about your stress! Take a deep breath and just get through one day at a time - You are not allowed to think about "when you get back" You are going to be ON VACATION!!

P.S. I wanted to ask - is the blond dog in your siggie a Chug or a Pug? We have a 2 yr old Chug - so much fun and such a good dog!!!

The SF Disney Store is way more magical than the Santa Monica store. I've been to both...Santa Monica is *very* small. Stockton St is the one to visit if you had to pick. Plus there is nothing special to buy in Santa Monica, vs SF. :)

I guess I'll have to pack my SF Mickey sweatshirt. Hmm, from the sad but true files (then again I'm in good company here) I'm pretty sure I still have my original SF Mickey shirt from 10 years ago when the store was in its old SF location(s).

Is it in the same location that the previous Disney store was that they closed down a few years ago? sue

Not crazy at all, I have already started putting things into suitcases!

My notes say it will be on Saturday? I think we at sea on Sunday. I could be wrong?:confused3

Packing officially started last night.....toiletries that are being saved for the trip are being laid out, we finished and packed one of our fish extender goodies last night....clothes that we know we need bu twon't use between now and then (tuxes, ties, dress shoes, shorts for DisneyLand, etc.) are laid out and ready to go into suitcases...binoculars (thank you Adventures by Disney!!) are set out, door magnets are packed.....it's starting to become very very real!!!:thumbsup2

DL1957--No it is not but the new one isn't far away. Bonzie here is a link to Google Maps if you want to include it in your list. :)

The old Disney Store was on Post St @ Powell which is "B" on the map (link above). The new Disney Store ("A" on the map) is @ 39 Stockton St, right next to the Apple Store and visible (the sign anyway) from Market St. It's a block down and across the street from Neiman Marcus. If you are at Union Square it is just a couple of blocks down. Very convenient if you plan on riding the Powell St cable car line...Stockton St is a block away from the Market St cable car turnaround.

If you have any logistical questions let me know. Like the Starbucks at the Corner of Powell & O'Farrell is open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. :) Used to be open 24hrs but then the economy tanked... ;) Or maybe that the In N Out Burger by Fisherman's Wharf is open until 130a on Friday/Saturday. The F line street cars end just down the street from In N Out, and the other end is the Castro, where there are many bars...anyway...that was a long night. :drinking:

Wow... I've lived less than 2 hours from SF for over 25 years now and not heard of so many fun things to do, even though I've been there several times. One day we may take the ferry over to Saulsalito. Not sure what else. Contacting some old college friends who still live in the Bay Area to see if they want to meet up somewhere while we are there. Also...not sure if the DCL tour of Alcatraz is different, but when you go there on your own the tour is selfguided with everyone wearing little headsets, or at least it was when we went.

Also... on another note, DD had her Gtube surgery yesterday. Last night was horrible, but today she is starting to act more like herself. Now we can actually think about the cruise instead of surgery planning.

Anyone else not do their online check-in yet? I don't know why but I never feel like doing it so it is always a last minute thing. And considering Disney has almost everything stored I don't know why I always put it off...

If any DISer is in cabin 6631, please PM me. Or if anyone knows the passengers in 6631, pleasee PM me.
