04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

Anyone else not do their online check-in yet? I don't know why but I never feel like doing it so it is always a last minute thing. And considering Disney has almost everything stored I don't know why I always put it off...

I am lucky to get it done by the cutoff! Since we are flying several days before the first cruise that won't be a problem this time. But I can't even begin to think about that yet...I'm still trying to figure out how to deal with work. The list there is neverending...

We're close... we are in 6620

No, I really need them. Because they are linked to my reservation and I have no idea who they are. I am going to have them unlinked tomorrow. Unless they are someone I have met in the past and don't recall, which I doubt, but I am old and my brain is feeble, so it could be, but I doubt it

So, I am sitting at work, trying to catch up on a magazine pile from hell between drunk sittings....

In Wired from Feb 2011...a nice little blurb about Club 33!!! on pag 26 for those who have the issue!

Our Docs came today from our TA, Had a shot of nice scotch to celebrate!

We're doing Club 33 on Sunday the 24th and don't really want to have to rush that :confused3

I live here and still have not gotten into club 33! Hoping one day in the future!

maybe if there's a bus-type tour of San Fran sights between then that would be cool. Any suggestions? (We don't usually do excursions on our own EVER...we trust Disney to do all the planning!)

The guys and I are planning to get a Muni pass from the SF Convention & Visitor bureau to ride the Cable Cars all day and to take the BART trains for some fun trips. The Muni pass is good on all cable cars, buses, and Electric buses. Lots to see and do that way.

Enjoy Club 33 - I loved it....took about 200 photos! Make sure to take an empty card if you haven't been before this...

I was booked using DCL transfers for my first cruise (Gr Ca to port) and after I found out the pick up time - I canceled...for 5 dollars more - I booked through a private company and I set the pick up time. Do a google search - there are a couple of companies that will do pickups. When you pick the time, remember that they think you have to be where ever 2 hrs before (based on flying I guess). I have an 8am pick up for 10am delivery to the port. Prepaid, tips included...I will see if I can find the phone number. If you can get a group - (about 6 people) the cost will be even less.

PrimeTime Shuttle - 58.00 with tip.

Everyone has been to Club 33 but we who live here! ugh! We are taking Primetime from the house to the port too. They have always been very reliable and the reason they plan the 2 hr window is because you never know what Freeway is going to be blocked or jammed with an accident and they don't want you to be late. This is Los Angeles and my 20 mile drive to work can vary from 30 minutes to 90 minutes! LOL:scared1:

I know I am late to the planning but I have a question. Has anyone found a reasonable price hotel near the port with inside entrance to the rooms, shuttle to the port and maybe even shuttle from LAX to the hotel? I know, not asking for much am I - lol.

I am arriving the night before so don't have time to visit DL (I know that area and the hotels).

TIA - I am finally able to get excited about this trip.

I am a collector... not a hoarder..... :rotfl:

DL1957--No it is not but the new one isn't far away. Bonzie here is a link to Google Maps if you want to include it in your list. :)

The old Disney Store was on Post St @ Powell which is "B" on the map (link above). The new Disney Store ("A" on the map) is @ 39 Stockton St, right next to the Apple Store and visible (the sign anyway) from Market St. It's a block down and across the street from Neiman Marcus. If you are at Union Square it is just a couple of blocks down. Very convenient if you plan on riding the Powell St cable car line...Stockton St is a block away from the Market St cable car turnaround.

If you have any logistical questions let me know. Like the Starbucks at the Corner of Powell & O'Farrell is open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. :) Used to be open 24hrs but then the economy tanked... ;) Or maybe that the In N Out Burger by Fisherman's Wharf is open until 130a on Friday/Saturday. The F line street cars end just down the street from In N Out, and the other end is the Castro, where there are many bars...anyway...that was a long night. :drinking:

Thanks for the info I know exactly where you are talking about. I will be out there next week for the Giants home opener. Looks like there are two of us living in VA that are very familar with the City!

Good Morning Mateys!

I remember awhile back, there was some discussion as to whether or not we would have a curfew while docked in San Francisco. Here is the 'official' answer my TA received from DCL:

"During the 6-Night Repositioning Cruise (6SA) on 4/27/11, the itinerary includes an overnight docking in San Francisco. At this time, Guests will be able to disembark/embark the ship while in port 24 hours a day. Guests should check their Personal Navigator once onboard for more information

So Debbie’s clients should be fine, they’ll just want to check the Personal Navigator they receive on Thursday night as it should include any information they’ll need to know about returning to the ship during the overnight in San Francisco."

Woo Hoo :woohoo: San Francisco, here we come! :yay:

We are at the Clarion in San Pedro , I seem to recall there being a Days Inn next door. Best I can recall off the top of my head.

Also... on another note, DD had her Gtube surgery yesterday. Last night was horrible, but today she is starting to act more like herself. Now we can actually think about the cruise instead of surgery planning.

Pixie Dust for fast recovery for your DD!

Happy Birthday Elaine! Have a great day!

Thanks Scott- I'll check the Clarion tonight when I get home.

I am staying 3 nights (Sat Sun Mon) at the LAX Sheraton. I booked through priceline for I think $60. I do a combo of hotwire/priceline and reading on biddingfortravel so that I don't overbid. There are several hotels in the "LAX" zone that a nice (4 stars or something) like Sheraton, Westin, or the Marriott where I'm staying via DCL the night before the cruise. I paid DCL about the same amount for 1 night as I paid for the other 3 nights on priceline.

Very familiar would be an understatement. :) If I only owned a flat there I could visit more often! We visited last month, we'll be there on the cruise, and then I'm there in June, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov for long weekends (3-5 days). I so wish I had a kitchen when I'm there...to be able to cook with all the great foods from the Farmers Market would be awesome. Can't wait for Aug/Sept when salsa is back in season (Happy Girl Kitchen Co). I can eat that for a meal!
