04/27/11 DCL's WONDERful LA-VANCOUVER REPO ON THE WAY TO ALAKSA

STANLEY PARK INFO

The walk from Canada Place to the entrance of Stanley Park is a little over 2 miles - it's definitely doable (and it's a beautiful walk if you do it along the water), but Stanley Park is a really big park, so you'll be walking a lot once you get there as well. For example, the famous Seawall that surrounds Stanley Park is is about 10km (over 6 miles) and between the different areas can be quite a big walk.

While you could take a taxi to the park, I'm not sure of the availability of taxis within the park. My DH says that he sometimes sees them at the major attraction areas (Prospect Point, Klahowya Village, Vancouver Aquarium, Rose Garden, etc), but I wouldn't necessarily count on them if you're there mid-week (unless you took one of the local taxi's phone numbers with you). There are also hop-on/hop-off trolley tours and horse-drawn carriage tours around the park, so you could look into that as well, though you'd still have to get to the park (they have a stop outside of Canada Place, but I'm not sure if that would take you to the park). The website for the hop-on/hop-off trolley tours is: http://www.vancouvertrolley.com/tour/stanley-park-shuttle

This might help, there are lots of ways to get to Stanley Park including walking.

FE exchange for Repo cruise Roster by room...

Uh Oh! Do you remember the last post where the list is by DIS Name??? :confused3 I know someone asked for this to be by cabin name for distribution but I was using it by DIS name until we set sail! :rotfl2:

Never mind... I just got everything updated. Thanks! :thumbsup2

P.S. I show Minibear 7620 as Canceled

If not... no worries, I will go through this list and update my roster. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Yes, I do remember your roster by DIS name.

As I understand, we have rosters for different purposes. You keep a universal roster for pre-cruise DL, Repo, B2B, & Alaska.

I have been organizing a limited roster, which is repo cruise for those who wish to participate in the FE exchange, and to that end, has always been sorted by room.

I'll send you a PM so that I can send you my spreadsheet with my roster.

I know, right! :confused3

That's what you get when everybody helping here is a volunteer!

Here is what I think:

Ken's list: Custom lanyards for Repo, Alasaka, or both (B2B)

Georgie's list: Universal roster for Repo,Alaska, or both (B2B) including pre-cruise DL visiting.

Laura (my) list: Limited roster for the Repo Cruise for those who wish to participate in the FE exchange.

Does that help at all, or just make things more confusing?

And... in the beginning, we tried for just ONE list to dispurse information from there. But... when updates started coming in... Well... now we are all trying to play catch up.

That's why I'm trying to keep just
ONE PAGE (click) with links to the lists... That way we can read posts of fun things and information, and not just lists.

Key in on the TRYING part! LOL!

And now, on top of all that, we've lost an hour and my brain feels like it's already working overtime! Too Funny! See everyone soooon!

I got our airline info from DCL today. This is the first time we have booked throught them for air because DH cannot get off work until the day we leave. This was true of his old job and actually started a great job last week.
Anyway I am glad I was able to get my Palo reservations because our flight does not get into LAX until 12:10 which based upon my experience in the area means at best we will not be at the port until 2:30. Anyone else coming in on the 27th from the East coast with this time schedule from DCL?

We aren't using DCL air, but we are using DCL transport from Disneyland to the port. I'm really hoping they have a departure that won't get us there until around 2:30 on the 27th, since I'd like to spend as much time in the park as we can. They said they won't know about transport times until closer to 30 days out. So, hopefully you won't be the only late arrival! We aren't trying to get Palo or anything though. May try for a brunch or tea on the Alaska portion, but not worrying about it on the repo.

We're trying to figure out if we want to do Alcatraz on our own or through DCL. Does anyone know how to get from the port to Alcatraz (or where I can find the info)? Has anyone booked the Walt Disney Museum through DCL? We're thinking about doing that through DCL then Alcatraz on our own..or maybe just a hop-on hop-off trolley tour on our own.

From what I heard we can walk to the pier where the Alcatraz boats will leave from.
I booked Alcatraz on our own through

boarding is at Pier 33

:welcome:

Feel free to respond ... telling us a little information about you and your travel party. How many people ... rough age range ... where are you from ... how many cruises have you sailed ... what itineraries ... any cruises OTHER than DCL (we won't hold that against you) ... any special events being celebrated?

Will you be doing the REPO only, or the ALASKA cruise as well?

Will you be staying in DisneyLand prior to the REPO cruise?

DISboards lets you send PRIVATE MESSAGES once you post 10 messages ... accordingly ... you may want to post the above information over multiple messages.

See page 1 of this thread for LOTS of useful links and information.

Welcome aboard - lots of fun stuff going on. We have several lists going, including my free lanyard and name badge list. All I need is the first names of everyone in the group and if your are doing just the April 27 repo or are you also doing the 1st Alaska cruise.

Getting to Alcatraz is almost exactly the same doing it on your own or doing it through DCL. If you go through DCL, go to a meeting point on the ship. If not, skip that step.
Either way, leave the ship, walk to The Embarcadero (the street along the waterfront), turn left, and walk 1/10 mile to the ferry terminal.

If you use DCL, you'll be limited to just about an hour and a half - but I haven't been to Alcatraz in so long that I don't know how much time you'll really want on the island. If you do it on your own, take all the time you want.

If you do it on your own and also want to visit Sausalito, it is easy and cheap. Halfway between the cruise and Alcatraz ferry terminals, across the street, hop on an F line streetcar and ride about a mile to the ferry building. The ferry is $16.50 for an adult round trip, and the schedule is available here. You won't ride a bus across the Golden Gate Bridge, but you will enjoy a beautiful ferry ride for a lot less money!

Any guesses what the ship will do Monday night? We are scheduled to leave Victoria at 5:30 so we could easily be in Vancouver before 9. I wonder if we'll dock early or spend the night wandering the Strait of Georgia.

You would be surprised about how slow that ship can go in circles. :rotfl2:

Hey everyone...I have been trying to merge the FE lists with the lanyard lists...(for my own reasons) I have some folks with multiple cabins - so which is the correct cabin(s)??

yensidfan listed as three..6062,6067,& 7512...not sure which is correct
CastawayCayFans - I have 6131 & 6609
Coastie And Mate - listed in 7020 & 7520

As I said - I am not a keeper of any lists..just trying to merge the two for both cruises...so any assistance is appreciated!
