01/04/05 4 Day Magic Roll Call

Julie, my cousin booked through DCL directly and I went through a TA. All I needed to do was give the TA her full name and they were able to link the reservations. No problems what so ever.

Hello, All!
This is our first cruise-my DH, DD 8, DS 7, DS 4, DD 17 mo. Plus my in-laws, my sil and her DH and their two DS 5 & 3. My in-laws are taking us all in memory of our Grandma and we are getting SO EXCITED!! My 4 kids don't know yet--hoping to tell them Christmas morning. Haven't gotten any cabin info yet from in-laws but my eyes about crossed from reading all the tips and posts on the DIS forums! We will be at WDW on 1/1 before leaving on the Magic. Staying at the Poly. This is my first time back to WDW since they were building Epcot so I can't wait!

Does anyone have a suggestion as far as what to do with a car seat from my little one? We'll have one for her seat on the plane but I'm wondering what to do with it for the rest of the trip. Any suggestions would be great!

See you in January

Hi-Welcome. We have a DD who will be almost 8 and a DS who will be a little over 3.5(he is very chatty). We look forward to meeting you all.
We just got home from Hershey Park, Pa. What a great weekend for Halloween. The weather was in the mid 70's and the leaves were so beautiful. I will read through all the post's later. Time to go unpack.TTYL-Gail

Hi everyone.

I finally got to speak to Debbie the reservation manager for DCL. The poor women was out recouping from surgery and I must of left her 4 or 5 messages.
Because the cruise is only 4 nights Debbie can not give us the private room that holds 14 or two large tables for brunch. the reason is that the brunch is only offered once during the cruise. the reason she could of done it on the 10night thast we were originally going on was because it was offered 3 times on that cruise. Even on the 7 night it is offered twice. When it is a 4 night cruise-It goes to the congiere or used as overflow if they over boook the room for brunch.
Debbie was nice enough to offer the private toom for Dinner at Palo's either the 2,3,or4th night of the cruise.I would be responsible for paying for the room. If we are intrested in doing this I would need a Confirmed yes from all that are intrested and would have to put the tab on my room number. Debbie will not split up the room numbers as you are reserving that room for your use. It is the same fee they charge for dinner.
The last night would be nice as we would have all eaten in all three restaurants on the cruise. I do not have a time yet as it all depends on whic night we would pick.
If you are seriously intrersted please pm me or e mail me at gail17@optonline.net
For all you new cruisers this is an adult only restaurant. The children would have to go into the children's program, Flounder's Reef nursery during the dinner or if you have a built in babysitter that would work.
I would need to finalize this pretty quick as to the night we want so no one else reserves it.

:wave2: gail

Dinner sounds like fun but I can not commit to it. So I guess that you will have to count me as a no.

I hope that everyone else has fun.::yes::

It is a wet, dreary day here and I am glad I am counting down the days!!!!!!!!!

I am paying off our cruise today. YAY!!!
Yesterday in the mail we got a list of things to do in Nassau and at Castaway cay.
We are thinking about doing the catamaran thing with the snorkeling. Has anyone done that and is it worth it?

What good things are there to do in Nassau?
We are also staying at MK the night we get off the ship, so we are excited about that as well.

We are in a catergory 6 room with a balcony. I hope we are on a good spot on the ship. It looks like our room is in the middle by the elevators. At least it will make it easier for our 10 year old to find our room. We also have the late dinner seating. The DH is now thinking it's to late. I thought it would be better, that way if we are doing something fun we don't have to worry about stopping to eat.

I haven't gotten any info on excursions yet? Has anybody else received any.

I am sure that your room will be great Dorenda . Enjoy your verandah!

Yes, we got ours almost one week ago, and we haven't even paid for our trip in full yet! We're paying it off tomorrow. :Pinkbounc

I'll be doing the "finally paid off" dance on Friday. I've been sending in a little bit at a time, so the balance isn't bad at all.

I haven't received anything about excursions, but maybe that's because I booked with a travel agent. I just went on line to the DCL site and got the information from them. It's much more exciting to get something in the mail though. Makes it finally seem real.

Dorenda, it's really hard to choose which dining option is the best. Even if you have late seating, it means that you go to the shows at 6:30. We had the 8:30 seating with an 18, 14, 13, 10 and 8 year old in May. It actually worked out perfectly for us. The 8 year old decided to skip one night with us because they were making flubber in the lab and she didn't want to miss it. Otherwise, we had plenty of time to see the shows and do some dancing in Studio Seas before dinner. After, the older kids would either head back to the teen lounge or go to the movies. I think you'll be fine and if you get busy with something, you can always skip your assigned restaurant and go casual with pizza, chicken fingers or the buffet.

As to your Nassau question, my DD18 and DH did the catamaran sail and snorkel. They had a great time and saw a lot of fish. DH said that he felt a bit nervous with some of the younger kids on the tour though. The catamaran is a fairly open boat and probably best for ages 8 and up.

YES, YES, YES!!! We are going on 1-4-05 Magic!! This is our first ever! I'm so excited. It's not easy planning a 10 day land and sea with 4 busy kids' schedule but I did it! :hyper:

Welcome magicmaker1. Glad to have you aboard with us.

How old are your kids???

Hi, Dorenda.

I booked the late seating for us this time & have been having reservations about it. However, after reading all of the posts on the below link, I have decided that late seating is best for us. We have done both before & liked both, depending on who was sailing with us. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the warm welcome. My kids are DD 14, DD 12, DD 11, and DS 9. This is our first real vacation--ever(how sad is that). I just hope I'm not expecting too much and then will be disappointed. I know the parks will be packed the week after Christmas to New Years but I just had to be there for the holidays!!

I'm doing the the dance. Got it all paid off today. Now we have to decide what extra stuff we want to do.
We are in the 6pm seating for dinner. ( I though we had the late one). We are in room 6062.

Since we are arriving a day early we are going to rent a car and drive to the port and when we get of the ship we are spending the night at MK, so we though it would be easier just to rent a car as there are 6 of us travelling.

My only main concern is that my 17 year old son won't have anyone to hang with and will be bored.

:wave2: Dorenda, we are just down the hall from you in 6083.

We have early dinner seating too.

We also have a 17 year old but a daughter.

What kind of a guy is your 17 yo son???? Shy, outgoing, blends into the woodwork or stands out in the crowd????

I wouldn't worry too much about him. This will be our daughter's 5th Disney Cruise and she has loved each and every one of them.

Make sure that your son goes to the 411 get to know each other time in the teen club on the first night. That is when they will find others to hang out with. They may find they don't like the planned activities but they might find someone to just go to movies with and hang out around the ship.

I'm betting that after the first night at dinner you will see very little of your son again until it is time to leave the ship. That is how it always seems to work out for us. ::yes::
