When you give out numbers (phone numbers, etc) and have to say 0, do you say zero, oh, goose egg, or nought? I notice I tend to say oh. I'd rather say zero, but my mind goes southern on me.

I think it depends on my mood or what I am giving out. I was just thinking about this and in terms of my phone number I thought zero first, but then when I thought about my address I thought oh.

Working in a job where I usually need to be very specific about things, I tend to say "zero" most of the time. Our world has become quite "alpha-numeric" on us and the distinction must be made from the letter o.

I must confess, though, that I sometimes do refer to "zero" as "o."

I'm so confused... Oh well, back to work...

My job involves the remote support of a mobile data logging system and I have to provide a lot of advice and instruction to our users, who are calling on cellphones. Because of this, I have to use the phonetic alphabet and enunciate numbers so there's no ambiguity with the alphas.

This is just a long winded way of saying; ''I use zero''

EXCEPT: when giving our phone #, the area code is 508...then I say "oh". Seems like everyone around here says area code "five, oh, eight".
