»»June 16, 2012 Father's Day Cruise on the Fantasy!««

I looked at our cruise on DCL, my cat. has gone up by $3000. and we're 9 months out! :scared1:

Welcome new families! party:

I am sincerely sorry for all the loss of special loved ones in a few of us cruisers' lives in the recent few weeks. I hope the young family can recover and move on from lossing their mom; and Becky, love the whole "enjoy the time and moments with your family" idea.

Just checking in... been very CRAZY w/ getting ready for my classes (kids are being added and changed almost on a daily basis), trying to prepare for 14 or 15 BOYS out of 20 registered in my class :scared1:; plus getting the boys off to school!

All is well, still looking forward to the cruise, and, now, back to blanching~ Carrots yesterday, corn today.

Have a GREAT week everyone!

PS... love being a wedding crasher ;) as for a flash mob :dance3:, can't dance and keep rhythm one bit :rolleyes1.

We have two cabins. The price is almost $5000 more total now. I told DH we saved $5000...he didn't quite see it that way, lol.

Wow! Same for our 2 cabins. I am now the family hero for booking on opening day. There is no way that I would pay $5,200 for an 8C for 2 people!! And the Cat 4 prices. Yikes!!! A 4B for 2 people is $8,000. There just aren't enough exclamation points for that.

We cruise on Oct 1st on the Magic and are going to book 2 dummy dates - I need to be on the ball for 2013 like we were for 2012 with booking right away!!! I cannot bear those price hikes!!!! I am hoping for Alaska in a Nav verandah, so may only do 1 cruise since it will be such a costly vacation with airfare and such.......we'll see. Not that I can complain with 3 DCL cruises in 2012 :thumbsup2 Better to have 2 dummy dates than none at all!!!

Have you guys been watching the progress of the Fantasy?? She's looking great!!!

Is it better to book a dummy date as soon as the next round of dates come out, or wait until our cruise and rebook on board with the booking discount? We'd love to do a cruise in 2013 for our 10 year anniversary.

Pick your date and itinerary and book it immediately when 2013 opens. Then re-shop it onboard next June. If prices have remained stable since booking opened (yeah, right), then the future cruise CM will re-price it for you with the 10% rebooking discount and OBC. Otherwise, you thank your lucky stars that you were smart enough to book at the beginning before prices skyrocketed.

See below - I would not wait until June 2012 to book for 2013 if you are looking to cruise during a peak time (spring break, summer, holidays).

I would do this :thumbsup2

Actually, this sometimes happens & it all depends on when you want to sail. We waited until our Aug 2010 cruise to book our Oct 2011 cruise. The price was the same as the day the cruise was released (actually, it was the same until very recently and has only increased $200 total for our same cat). We were even able to snag a secret verandah room. In comparison, we all know how this cruise pricing has gone!

Edited to add: We didn't book this cruise until our Jan 2011 cruise. I don't know what the price difference was, though. Also in Jan, we booked a dummy date, which we eventually moved to the Podcast 4.0 cruise when it was announced for Dec. 2012. We are planning on re-shopping our Feb cruise when we board the Magic in 18 days!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello All. Been quite a while since I've posted. Got good news and bad news:
Good news: we're still cruising Father's Day weekend.
Bad news: we have to withdraw from the FE and SE.
I don't have a small kid anymore - 13 yr old son . . . going on 27.

Have fun . . . still hope to meet many of you on the cruise!:thumbsup2

So decision has been made, I will be driving down the Sunday before the cruise by myself with 3 children. DD can not get 2 weeks off, so I decided I still wanted to go down and spend some time at the parks before the cruise:rotfl2:. I think it will be a lot of fun just me and the kids. DD said he will fly down on Weds. or Thurs. and he is just going to go golfing, don't want to buy tickets for him for only 1 or 2 days. So golf away. Getting really excited and kids still don't know.

Ugh, you had to go and burst my bubble. :headache: I teach Special Ed K/1st, so my math skills don't have to be too sharp.:teacher:  It's going to be a long year....:faint:

LOL Sorry :confused3 It would be a little more depressing if you arrived at the boat a whole month early though right!? :rotfl: Well maybe not...extend your vacation a month before you even get on the boat...hmmm maybe that's not such a bad idea anyway

I cannot believe it!!

Work has kept me so busy, I feel like someone who has been working, looking at the clock, and trying to figure out where did time vanish!!

Silverfox: you were right re: 5K. I saw a recent Navigator on Barb's site (aka Inkoggnito), and the race indeed starts at 9am. So yes, by the time you're done etc, and you take a shower, get breakfast, it can easily be 11am. I will follow your cue, and run on the threadmill while looking at the gorgeous view of the Castaway Cay bay! (too bad the pirate ship is no longer there!).

I'm going on a 4 NIght this October (Oct 23). I'm really hoping that the 2013 dates will be released!! I plan to book one or 2 cruise, assuming I can convince Stephen for the 2nd cruise! I'm interested in Alaska and the Med, if DCL goes back there. In the latter case though, factoring the airfaire plus all the excursions (I read on another thread that each excursion -if you count excursion cost itself plus incidentals- can easily cost 400-500$ for 2 people), I'm not sure I could swing 2 cruises. Maybe i'll just stick to the Caribbean. Easier to leave out of PC, plus we can always pair it with a few days at the Parks!

Hope everyone is going well!!

Hi everyone. Been following things on Facebook, but haven't posted here in eons. Updated all my tickers today and thought I'd show them off :)

:welcome: to all those who have joined us in the last few months! Sorry to see so many others have dropped out, and that others have been having some very trying times. I lost my job yesterday and I'm a little worried. I knew for the last 5 weeks it was coming and had some very good interviews last week - I'm pretty sure one of them is going to pan out. But being a single parent and all, just the slim chance that they won't is a little daunting. I work in very specialized field and have a stellar reputation - the last time I was unemployed it was for 7 days. Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

Prayers and best wishes being lifted up for you. DH is in a very specialized field, with government contracts, and has been home (i.e. out of work) since late March.:scared1: (Needless to say, money is beyond tight) Glad you're still hanging on to this cruise. Lot's of time to pay it off, if you haven't already (guess I'm trying to convince myself!) :thumbsup2

Thank you so much - I wish the same for you. Since it's only been a few days, I'm not making any rash decisions. I'm in a good financial position and my former employer is paying for my health insurance through the end of the year (that was an unexpected surprise that they shared with me earlier in the week.) Now if something doesn't pan out in a couple of months, the cruise may have to be postponed. But, boy my kids (and me for the matter) would be really disappointed. So I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure it doesn't come to that!
