Great advice re: 5K. I thought that it was early morning, like 8:15am? And isn't it roundtrip, such that you'd be back to the ship before 9am (assuming one runs at -or- less than 12 min/mile). If you have any additional info on the 5K (or to a thread that is discussing this), I would be most grateful!

Well, back in Aug 2010, it was at 8:30am, and it was round trip. In Jan, it was 9am. Scuttlebutt on the DIS is that it's now at 9:30am, but the only ship going to CC is the Dream. 9:30 is awfully late in my opinion. Let's say you start on time, are back to the ship by 10am. Maybe you want to run up to your room and at least get changed, and eat a banana. You are looking at 10:30-11am getting out to enjoy CC. I decided to go to the gym instead, shower, eat breakfast with my fam, and be off the ship 8:30-9am to get a full days worth :thumbsup2 If you Google CC 5K, you'll get links to the different threads. That's the easiest way to search the DIS.

That's just my opinion though ;)

Just joining in! We got off of the Dream on the 12th--Double dip 5-day--and LOVED every second of it! We decided by day 2 that we would book the Fantasy on board. :lovestruc Love the 10% discount and a $200 OBC.

It's me and my DH in cabin 6076. We'll do the FE, but I just won't tell DH until about 3 months out. :rotfl2: He delivered most of our gifts and I had almost a suitcase FULL this time!

Let the countdown begin!!

We will be your next door neighbor! (6074) We had the same cabin on the Dream, and loved it. Looking forward to seeing you :)

Was wondering if anyone in this group plans to do the Castaway Cay 5K Fun run?

My DH and I will be there, maybe with our DS (he'll be 9-almost-10) at the time. I'll hate it if cuts too much into our Castaway Cay day, but we're determined. :) Continuing to say that we'll do it will also keep us active while on board.

I see that there are a lot of us on the 6th floor. We'll be aft, in 6690. :)

We want to join the fun! I booked this in November of last year. Seemed like forever, but now that it's less than a year away, I want to start dreaming.

Hope all our East Coast friends are safe. Nice morning at Disneyland, but pretty hot. We've had mid-upper 90s this week, which is warm considering we've had such a mild summer.

Hi, everyone. Sorry to be MIA, but we have had a crazy 2 months here, and I'm just coming up for air. My DH found out his job is being transferred to Dallas, TX, so this has been a major decision in our lives (we are in Atlanta now). We have decided to move, but we can stay here through the end of school since the trio are in 5th grade. Then our basement flooded with raw sewage (backup in the line in the street that broke our backflow valve). We still have construction going on, and it's been 4 weeks. My neighbor age 42 died 2 weeks ago of cancer and left 2 young girls and her DH. I've been organizing help and food for them. Needless to say it's been stressful around here.

I will try to get back on and update all the new members, etc. And I guess now we will be flying to PC for the cruise. May try to go to WDW before the cruise.

Rough news all the way around. Awful to hear about your neighbor. I've worried about spending a lot on $$ of an something like a cruise, my friend told me "You should enjoy the times with your family while you can.." Case in point. Make memories for your children.

That's our family motto. DH had a kidney transplant 3 years ago and we're all about making family memories now. My dad died last week and I have so many fond memories of our family vacations. I want to pass on that legacy to my kids.

Becky, I'm sorry for you loss. Cherish your memories of your dad.

I am really sorry about your dad.

Unfortunately we have had to change our plans so we won't be sailing with you all - Please adjust the "who's sailing" list to take us off. Fortunately, we were able to move to the Dream for Thanksgiving 2012 - which we may or may not do - just awaiting the 2013 itinerary announcement to see if something jazzes us more.

It's been nice getting acquainted. Bon Voyage.

Welcome to our cruising group!!! You'll have a blast, everyone here has been great and getting to know them has been a real treat.

We were in your shoes last year, we'd never been on a cruise before; DCL or other. We did a short 3 nighter over Halloween last year to test the kids out on it...needless to say we bribe the kids with good behavior to see when we can book our next trip on "The Mickey Boat" as it's known around our house (This cruise is still a surprise for them).

Hopefully you can find a lot of information from the DISboards. I know I spent countless number of hours "not working" at work looking over the DISboards for info. Also if you have access, there are some great podcasts done here by dreams unlimited on this site. I listened to as many as I could find for advice. And finally there is all of your cruise mates. many of these people have been cruising for a lot longer than I have, and have a wealth of information on DCL and cruising in general.

Glad to have you on board :)
