~ºoº November 27, 2010- Western Magic! ºoº~

Did they give you any reasons on why they say the swim in Cozumel is better than Grand Cayman? The one in GC is a new excursion that Disney is offering, so maybe they haven't got as much feedback? I've read posts from other DISsers that loved GC and for us, it's a bit more affordable, so think we will be trying it. Only 9 days to make my decision before my booking date!

Sorry for not responding sooner. I've been working on FE gifts and I've almost finished the adult ones. Now for the kids...

As for the dolphins, they didn't give us a reason. We were originally planning on GC. I'm sure both are great so I would just pick the one that you want unless someone can give you better feedback. I'm sorry that I don't have a better answer for you.

I am so conflicted about the excursions! I think I may just do the dolphin swim at GC, it has gotten good reviews from people here on the boards, but I may still look into the others a bit more. DH is not thrilled about getting off the ship in Mexico and not sure of his reaction if I tell him I'd rather do dolphins there than in GC. And, only a few more days to make up my mind before my 90 day mark - yikes! :scared1:

Today is the first day of my vacation week! Not going anywhere (probably will hit the 6 Flags near us as we have season passes) but just took the week off before the kids start school on the 2nd. DH was off with them Monday and Tuesday and now I'm off starting today and go back to work on the 2nd when they start school.

The rest of the time to our trip will really fly by once school starts...school means sports and then Halloween and then Turkey day and then WE SAIL!!!

I'm conflicted too. We'd planned on staying on the ship at GC but I read that 9-year-olds love the turtle farm. It sounds like such a tourist trap to me, but then I wonder, should I take my DS9 if HE would love it?

Just popping in to say Hi. Things are crazy here with soccer starting up for the fall. Dropped my DS off on Tuesday for his first day of High School.

Lisa: I would take DS if you think he would like it. The reviews I read are mixed but it always seem like the people that are haters are always the loudest. My son had just turned 9 when we went on our first cruise and he was always up for an adventure.

Hope all is well in everyone's world. Only 95ish days for us (my counter quit this morning). May you all have a MAGICAL day and a great weekend.

We were going to do the turtle farm in GC but DH and DS4 are going on the submarine ride. I'm taking DS2 shopping on my own. We showed DS4 pictures of both and he picked the submarine ride but he was VERY interested in the turtles too. Good luck deciding!

I'm not telling anybody what to do...but you might want to check reviews for excursions on tripadvisor.com -- sometimes you'll find very recent reviews that are quite helpful.

Lisa - thanks, I did check out tripadvisor and there were mixed reviews. And, I just realized that tomorrow is the 90 day mark so I really need to make up my mind! Guess it will be my goal today to figure it all out. Of course, DH is working today, so will need to make a list and then go over it with him etween bringing DS to a birthday party and bringing DD school shopping tonight.

It's always something! So happy that we are 3 months out....the time has definitely flown by. We don't start school here til Thursday, an dI'm off of work til then (woo hoo! :cool1:) So, I'm enjoying this week with the kids and just doing fun stuff.

Just wanted to check in and welcome the new cruisers! I can't believe we're at the 90 day mark.:banana:

School started for us last week and soccer, football and fall basketball are keeping things busy. The time is going to fly now!:scared1:

Tonya - I was happy to see your posts. I'm so glad that we will be cruising together again!!!! My sister in law and her family just moved from Ohio to Poplar Bluff Missouri. They love their neighborhood and the people they've met, but said they have never been so HOT!

Lisa - We did the turtle farm excursion through Disney in '06 and our kids were a little younger than your son. They loved it. We got some great pictures and it was enjoyable. We also did the stingray city excursion and it was one of the best memories of our trip. I would highly recommend it.

In Cozumel we did the dolphin swim at Dolphinaris two years ago and that was a highlight of that trip. It was very well organized and clean. A lot of water time with the dolphins. We booked through disney but others on our trip booked directly and it seemed like a better deal.

I'm so conflicted about what excursions to do this time. I know DH and I want to do Palo but not sure what day.

I hope all is well with everyone!! :)

I am starting to freak out. I got some good reviews on dolphin discovery in GC from here, and mixed reviews on trip advisor. I told DH that Disney recommends the one in Cozumel and he pretty much freaked out on me that he is NOT comfortable going into Cozumel. When I preseed him on why, it more relates to Cancun than Cozumel (a high up politial figure was assassinated by drug lords) but he is just freaking out.

Add to that, when I go onto DCL it is telling me to make a payment and I paid DU on 8/11 (already posted to my card and all) and if they haven't sent it to Disney for me to make my reservations tomorrow, I am going to be VERY unhappy. Of course, I didn't check until just now and while I sent them an email, I am not holding my breath that they will get back to me.

So....I really want to do SOMETHING in Cozumel, even if we do dolphins in GC. I think I may just book something and then we can cancel if he still feels the same way 3 days before we sail (I believe that is the cancellation timeframe).

I do NOT need this stress, that is for sure!

Forgot what else I wanted to say....

I checked the port list and we will be with a bunch of other ships in Cozumel and Grand Cayman, but it's only us in Key West.

In Grand Cayment, the Oasis will also be there. We were docked next to it in Nassau last year and it is just HUGE. I can't even convey how big that ship is. It would take me more than a week to remember how to get back to my cabin!

I'm surprised the Wonder didn't tilt to the side as everyone (crew included) were gawking at that monstrous ship.....it was like that Nescafe commercial (anyone remember that???)

I think it's Cozumel where we meet up with the Oasis. All of your sentiments still apply.

Darcy,

I'm sorry you're feeling stressed, but don't worry yet. Your payment may be fine. My cruise planning page asks the same thing and I called DCL earlier today to verify that they received our payment. They said it was ok and I should be able to book without problems.

I like your idea of booking something for Cozumel and then cancelling if DH doesn't feel comfortable.

Maybe you should have a cocktail - it will put you in the proper frame of mind ;)

Hey Gailyn
WE are thinking of booking Nachi Cocom in Cozumel. Join us!

 Logged onto the DCL website and actually got into Palo reservations and all of a sudden I "timed out" and haven't been able to get back in since!!! That was almost half an hour ago. I'm thinking I'm gonna be up late tonight. :sad2:

So, I almost had a Palo brunch and the system hung up and now it keeps saying to try again in 20 minutes, sigh... I almost had it...

Well, if we are all in the same boat so to speak, then perhaps the openings will still be there in a bit.

I got Palo dinner for 11/30 at 8 PM and booked the dolphins in Grand Cayman. I also booked a 1/2 day tour "Cozumel highlights and Mayan Ruins" and we'll see what happens there.

Now I'm heading back to bed!

Good luck everyone!

CK Cruising - youare right, the Oasis will be there when we are in Cozumel. It is truly something to be seen!

Well, got my Palo brunch, and some nursery time, two excursions, and Alone Time, although not exactly when I wanted it. Was going for my facial, and had it selected, but unconfirmed and now it booted me again. Going to bed now though.
